Maybe because I played fh4 on my lg c1 and 3080 at 4k 120... I got used to how it looks and last time I even noticed how old it is starting to look.

I'm mostly with you. I think FH5 looks great and that's what we have come to expect from Playground Games but it seems more like an evolution than a revolution. Then again, I still think the patched version of the original FH looks great.

I forgot what preview I watched, but the person who played said it was very noticeable how fast the game loaded, and that it didn't waste time on showboats and transition screens.
Likely the same if not a moderate improvement upon how FH4 loads. Aka initial load screen and then transitions to races takes about two seconds or whtever

That's a relief. It's amazing how quickly I've gotten spoiled by load times on PS5. Booting Animal Crossing gets me so impatient.

I also play on the same screen and on a 3080 ti and i have over 200h on FH4 and i can clearly see how much they improved it over 4. And 4 was the best looking racing game of last gen thats stil easily in the top 10 best looking games in general.
I mean look at those, how is this not impressive
And don't forget what we have seen till now was all on console, the pc version will push things even further.

Please get your eyes checked because FH5 is on another tier compares to FH4.

Give us a screenshot like this showing you're logged into your gaf account and actually have a 3080. A lot of people always say this, and 90% of the time they don't actually have such a GPU. As you can see I have a Ryzen 7 3800X, 64GB of RAM with an RX 580.
edit: Forza Horizon 5 is a clear and obvious leap over Forza Horizon 4. To claim it's merely a refinement can't be taken seriously. The environmental complexity from a texture, geometry standpoint and lighting alone are on a different level.

Game looks great. Idk if I'll buy it at launch as I'll be busy with SMT 5, but that looks amazing. That being said, I can see how some people say it looks the same if you don't really pay attention. Overall fidelity is the same, but the amount of detail is greatly increased.
I just hope there's plenty of dirt racing. Not really crazy on the street racing in 4.

I think they said the 30fps felt good, considering it's 30fps. Richard even went ahead and called it "filmic". I'm almost certain they said this to adhere to preview press guidelines set by MS. Or maybe the 30fps mode is that good (unlikely).

Based on what I've been seeing I really just might play this game at 30fps with how good it looks. I guess it will come down to how much better the game feels at 60fps, but according to what DF said about the 30fps mode, it appears like it might feel/look smoother than what it actually is due to the quality of the motion blur.

I can't believe DF is praising 30fps. I think one of the fps snowflakes of DF scolded me for thinking spider man was smooth despite being 30fps."next gen graphic" began with Demons Souls back in 2020.
Also, reading the article, I find it hilarious that they mention how good the "30 fps" implementation is....
If this were a PS game... 30 fps in gran turismo... I have a feeling these guys would be saying very different stuff.
Imagine having next gen hardward and excuse a racer with 30 FPS WTF!!

I think he needs to post pictures of his rig again but this time with his bare ass exposed, "bender" written on his left cheek, not right, in red sharpie, not black, not blue, and certainly not purple. Since I'm a feeling reasonable, he can select the tip size of the sharpie.

The middle finger was a joke and I edited it out because I had doubts that some would think it was funny, but you captured it anyway so......well there it is.
But no, I know exactly what you are getting at. The things is no one is beholden to show you anything. Why in the world you think anyone would actually do that for some internet nobody is beyond me. And I say that as an internet nobody myself. So your experiment was a failure from the get-go because you are effectively calling others liars and expecting them to prove they are not. Yeah....good luck with that.

So what is the actual resolution of the performance mode? Even a first party MS studio can't help but lie about this. When people found out there was a 4k/30 quality mode they started asking what the performance mode will be. To which the developer tweeted "also 4k/60". Obviously, it was going to be some form of dynamic res, so why not be truthful and upfront about exactly what res it will be?
Based on watching preview comparisons I'm seeing a big difference in felicity between quality and performance. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case and that the performance mode would have the same settings. The res looks like 1440p now ...am I right?

It looks worse dude it's literally got lower settings than quality and resolution might be lower too. Your mistaking fluidity for graphics.
It's supposed to be 4k they drop draw distance and object density/detail to get the increase in framerate, some effects maybe running at a lower res even in quality mode. Have to take Microsofts word until someone pixel counts it at release I guess.

You can fake a paystub pretty easily. I'd recommend asking him to apply a glue stick to the right cheek of his bare ass so he can easily affix his W-2. And so that we know it is his ass and his W-2, he'll need to apply a little of that glue to his left cheek to affix his social security card too. Now when he write "bender" on the unoccupied space on his left check, we can't use a red sharpie since that will clash with the blue from his social security card. Blue isn't going to work either as it isn't the right pigment. We are going to have to settle for plain old black. It's a sacrifice on our part, but it is for the greater good.

Why don't you look at the video? They say the Xbox One version will feature dynamic res as a first for the series and that both modes run at native 4K on XSX. They are scaling other things instead of resolution on performance mode

And just because I make good money doesn't mean I want to be ripped off by paying way more than market value for an item I can likely pick up later for the proper price, or better yet, me waiting to not get ripped off could end up with me getting an even newer RTX 4000 series chip or the next AMD series GPUs. I purposely bought cheap for the RX 580 for strategic reasons because when I built my PC last year I wanted the cheapest and most acceptable placeholder until I saw what the next AMD and Nvidia cards were like. I pretty much spent on what I felt I needed on pretty much all else. If you see the timing of most of these purchases below it didn't make much sense buying an RTX 2000 series at that point.
If you locate for me a fairly priced RTX 3080 or RTX 3090 anytime soon, link me immediately, and I'll buy it and show you that pay stub too.

Resolution is exactly the same for both quality and performance modes.
And frame rates are actually a big part of graphics. Nobody plays still images. But yes performance mode does have a few things scaled back (like a few blades of grass and what not).
We just have to give the wizards at Playground alot of credit. The framerate of both modes is locked in and people can choose whatever suits them.

All seriousness, if you actually do find one properly priced 3080 or 3090, notify, dm me, whatever. I actually thought at times about just buying a gaming laptop with one already inside of it, killing two birds with one stone since I been looking to upgrade from my current laptop also, but that doesn't exactly solve the issue of me wanting a proper gpu upgrade for my main PC.
