I genuinely do feel sorry for anyone who could look at a game that looks like this and not be impressed where we are at graphically. its one crazy looking game and we have had a few this year. Games are looking amazing!

It might be a good idea to actually watch the video you are commenting on. Alex literally said he switched straight to 60 FPS mode after booting up FH5. Discussion of whether 30 FPS mode could be worth it came from John/Richard.

Forza horizon 5 can't be "the first next gen game", not by facts and not by opinions.
why? simple, forza horizon 5 isnt a next gen game, it is cross gen game. Because it is available on xbox one too.
Basically the same if ratchet & clank would have been released on ps4 -> it would not be really a next gen game either.
Does it look like a next gen game on series x is a different deal, and it can be discussed from different viewpoints and by opinions.
IMO it looks good, but it probably looks much better IRL vs. youtube, like games usually do. So it probably looks like a next gen game, while it is a cross gen game.
At least to me, next gen literally means a game tailored to next gen (current gen now) system, without having last gen version available. And how games look, it is separated thing from gens.
When I will buy series x, I will get flight simulator + forza 5, so it is good enough to me graphically.

Your memory is failing you. Jungle in Forza Horizon 3 looks great on PC but this is next level stuff. And running on a console. I can’t even imagine how it’s going to look maxed out on PC. Bonkers.

This is the benefit of gamepass.
I got to play Flight Simulator, The Ascent, Prey because of it, games I would have never bought for various reasons. Turns out Prey is GOAT material.

The fact that no one can agree when next gen visuals started or if its started at all, just proves how shitty this generation is thus far.
Imo there have been a couple of standouts like Flight Sim's environment or Ratchet's somewhat gimmicky dimension shift, but still very limited in terms of seeing a full video game that looks next gen from the ground up.

Not to derail, but I thought Prey was awful at 30fps. When MS worked their magic and boosted it to 60fps…game changer. One of my favourites from recent years.
We will probably see better FH in the future, but FH5 is not something an XBOX or PS4 could handle. FH4 is good but environments are flat in comparison.
I really want to see the Xbox One version and see the differences.

It deffinetly looks good and looks like next-gen, no questioning that at all. My point simply being that there have been other titles before FH5 that did this, therefore saying first true next-gen seems a bit far reaching for me.

The more I look at that image, the more i am expecting Nathan Drake to suddenly appear and attach a winch rope to a tree.
More of a response to both posters: never said FH4 matches up to FH5 (objectively it should be a better looking game), simply that in practice the differences weren't night and day just sitting back and watching footage. The biggest visual change (having gone back and looked at FH4 videos) looks like vegetation both in terms of complexity and density. Beyond that, yeah I would need a DF doing a side by side comparison to show where improvements have been made in the engine, because as someone on the outside of game development the differences aren't gigantic to me.
None of this is a knock on either title and is in fact praise for the developers that it seems like there's little space to iterate graphically for them since they've done such a good job on both.

Outside the car models, almost everything else is upgraded like lighting, textures, foliage, rocks, dust storm, smoke effects, terrain variety, particle effects, reflections, paint quality, draw distance, water quality, tessellation and character details.
yeah, its as impressive as the graphics and doesn't get enough praise.

I love how this guy takes his driving seriously. He makes sure he doesn't bump into anything and stops at intersections and treats it like he's driving in real life.
