LTTP: Ninja Gaiden Sigma is really bad compared to Black (played the recent collection)

Grabbed this collection on Switch thinking it was going to be the same as Black and wow they killed the flow of the game badly. Making you play all that added Sigma crap with Rachel. The worst part is she is clunky to control compared to Ryu. Terrible version of the game I wish I could get Black again instead.

everyone wishes they rereleased the original versions and not the Sigma crap, I'm just happy that the originals are backwards compatible on Xbox and run at high resolution and locked framerates now, so that's kinda like a remaster I guess, and most likely the only way to play them for the foreseeable future (I think there was something about missing source code or something)

Honestly both sigmas are awful, as much as i hate 3 its alot better then both sigmas, even when it isnt gory as the original 2 just the enemy replacement and the dlc missions are just unnecessary and alot easier which just looses the charm of the first 2 games, without Itagaki team ninja should just leave ninja gaiden alone for another 10 years and reboot the franchise since hes never going to work on ninja gaiden again

While I agree Both Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 are superior to Sigma, I love Sigma too, there's a wider gap between Sigma 1 and Sigma 2 for me in quality compared to those.

Sigma at the time was great in the early days of the PS3, had to order a US copy of the game since it the only version that was not censored, it was interesting seeing a remake that early since the original, that also got a Black version, I had both original games for Xbox, so for me it was more stuff added, albeit some of the added content was dividing among fans, Rachel sections being mandatory for one, and offered the opportunity to Playstation users to experience that awesome game.

Sigma 2 is a travesty, no gore, fewest ennemies on screen at the same time for technical reasons completely ruined the game pacing and intensity of the encounters, you trade all that for a few neat additions, mainly new bosses and other characters playable in separates chapters, but the core of the game, 90% of the time you spend playing the rest of the game is fundamentally a downgrade.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is baffling, I didn't bothered with the vanilla version and went straight to Razor Edge months later, the problems for me are the story, the gameplay design ditching the essence mechanics and the weird steel on bone gimmick, bad bosses, but on the other hand the combo system and moveset is just incredibly deep, the gore is awesome, that I would savaged for a NG4 without a doubt.

On the recent compilation, we had the bare minimum and at this point I'm just glad the franchise don't collect dust and the more you let new players experience NG helps keep the series alive.

I’ve played all Ninja Gaiden games, probably put in more hours in the game than most people here (Ninja Gaiden Black 460 hours, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 363 hours), I like the Sigma games.

Whilst I understand why people prefer Black and NG2, I think people are way over exaggerating. In fact, personally I prefer Sigma 2 to NG2 on Xbox 360. However, NG2 on Xbox One X has now made me prefer NG2 over Sigma 2, but only just slightly, because I loved the Sigma 2 online coop, Momiji, Ayane and Rachel missions were also fun, in addition to the new costumes and weapon.

NG Black on the other hand, remains the best NG game ever.
