Deathloop is a superb game...why do people want it to be bad so bad?

You’re full of shit. This game didn’t get good scores bc of pandering. They were genuinely good characters. Some Gaffers really need to get their head out of their assholes
Only the 2 main characters are any good. The supporting cast was not at all. For a game that is supposed to be focused on several high value targets, they did basically nothing to flesh out the characters whatsoever. Prey has such better characters and storytelling, it's not even funny, but I didn't see Prey being praised to the heavens.

I was a big hater because I though the game was a roguelike. Gave it a chance when I saw it go a sale not to long ago. Game isn't a 10 out of 10, but it's a great game.

The disease of hype and expectation?

Idk why. To me it just doesn't look like my style of game, but it looks competently made. I don't hate or feel threatened by it somehow 😄.

Probably just a vocal minority that sees it as some kind of competition to another game?

I really liked it, but it was my least favourite game by Arkane compared to the Dishonoured series and Prey.

It was also my least favourite aesthetic of theirs by a really large margin.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
Deathloop is a good game no doubt, but not "GOTY" game for me imo.
Im still half way in the game.

Because it’s divisive.

I platinum’d the game, I was intrigued enough.

But the AI is dogshit, almost ruins the game for me. It‘s not about difficulty (even tho that was an issue too, its easy) The enemy encounters/scenarios all feel the same.

Also the visuals were also underwhelming. And has unusal long loading times for a PS5 game. Everything else was pretty great.

It was a good game. I enjoyed it. But it was also a huge disappointment. Could have been amazing.

I was legit laughing at the dialogue from the Visionaries so I disagree on supporting not being any good. Also the stories they told in the journals were whacky and funny too

Ever since Deathloop was revealed people have been seemingly wishing it was bad. After it released to critical appeal people seemingly stuck to their guns claiming it's bad or undeserving of praise. Why do people want to dislike this game so much? It has some of the best level design of all time and a really fun gameplay loop where you can play it for 15 minutes or 5 hours.
Maybe somebody else asked already, but why do you keep making threads about this mediocre/over hyped game? Your last one got locked. Are you trying to bait people into saying shit that gets them banned?

It's not a matter of wanting it to be bad or fail. It's a mediocre unpolished flawed game that certainly shouldn't get a higher rating than the likes of bioshock or portal.

I'd say it suffers from Get Out critics syndrome. Similar to that movie, it's a half assed, cobbled together, mishmash of other peoples ideas that for some reason critics feel the need to rate as a masterpiece. I can't for the life of me figure out why modern media would need to lie about such things. Most people don't like being lied to about things they pay money for.

Salt.

Xbox fans want it to be bad since they can’t play it.

Playstation fans want it to be bad since it’s a Xbox Game Studio game and a sequel won’t arrive on Playstation.
Why would xbox fans want a game owned by Microsoft thats eventually going to Xbox to be bad?

Yep, we're not as pitiful as some people. The games success on Playstation is success for Xbox because Microsoft owns the studio, and it's always a good look when the teams succeed.

I've seen you make multiple threads trying to push Deathloop onto people, if people don't like it and dont think its good why are you trying so hard to change their minds?.

probably because of mediocre graphics and tidious advertising, was showing everytime on sony presentation when people were expecting gow2 or mgs remake etc

This all the way. Deathloop was promoted everywhere all the time so much that it became a meme. This is mediocre looking, niche genre shooter that was promoted like it was system seller, while it's clearly not one. I didnt even played it and I'm already tired of it, all because of all this promotional footage they were shoving down our throats at every occasion.

Let the sales do the talk.
Yeah, about that, looks like it's the same under performer Arkane game as always.

so first of all, it is nowhere near "superb"
it is decent. it's a decent game with a cool concept.

one big issue with it is the AI. you can trick the AI so easily that it completely destroys part of the gamedesign. you can stand in a room, shoot so that enemies around you get alarmed, and just shoot one after the other as they just mindlessly run around the corner.

the next issue is console specific, and that is that it plays like absolute ass... at launch the FOV was an issue (they fixed that now thankfully) and was so narrow that it was just 'Motion-sickness: The Game'. and which hasn't been adressed yet is the god awful controller aiming they have that is basically the worst I know in recent history. So at least for me it was literally unplayable on PS5, so much so that I switched to PC where thankfully a friend of mine who I have in family share on Steam bought it so I was able to play his copy.

so yeah. great concept, mediocre execution

Sales speak louder than TGA nominee. No ones is taking game awards seriously.
Games that are able to maintain their original price point after 2-3 years are the truly what we called a good game.

Cracking one liners and being brash counts as "good characters" these days, instead of actual character development and proper motivation. That's the problem.

this game made me sad, I just couldn't get into it, I really tried but felt like it was fighting me at every level,
and those moments when I was starting to enjoy it, it seemed to sabotage itself with a multitude of needlessly frustrating mechanics,
I think there is something great hidden inside this confused collection of disperate pieces, but I couldn't get to it

Because unless you have a PC you need a Playstation to play it at this point. It’s just how it goes. Look at any timed exclusive, the ones being left out are always salty. Do you ever see Playstation fans rave about how great The Ascent looks? It’s mostly about downplaying and concerns or talk about how it’ll be better or cheaper or less buggy later etc.

Because it is GENUINELY bad. So bad that they're "fixing" the shit AI MONTHS later.

Graphics - terrible
Sound - average
Gameplay - okay but the same as dishonored, ai drags it down
Buggy
Level design - good
Story - terrible

The fact this game is leading in GOTY nominations says a lot about the gaming industry.

Let me guess. You turn off online matchmaking because " I dont want GAAS in my game..waaaaahh"

Ngl, when I played Deathloop, at first I was like "wow this game is so cool and creative, I love time travel plots" etc. But then I stopped playing it after about 5 hours and never had any motivation to finish it.

It's missing something but I can't quite put my finger on it. I remember having similar problem with the first Dishonored way back when, and attempted to play it several times before it clicked in and I was finally hooked.

Dishonored 2 and Prey were brilliant, though. Fell in love with those games from the very first playthrough.

Not a fan unfortunately. Tried for a couple of weeks and it started feeling like a chore repeating scenarios. Just not my jam.

Did you play or finish it? If yes, did you play Prey or Dishonored series? Compared to those Deathloop is 10 steps below and Prey got a 5 from IGN while doing pretty much everything better. YOu could argue they gave it due to perf issues on PC but Deathloop was unplayable on PC at launch due to mouse aim stutters and u had to use a controller and the pefroamnce is still pretty bad even post patch. The AI is far much worse than Dishonored and Prey, the level design holds no candle to Dishonored 2's top missions like Clockwork mansion and the only thing you could argue is the story stuff/characters but pandering and inflating the score due to poc is very shitty.

Prey got an 8 from IGN.

Yeah its bit stange when Microsoft are making money from PS5 game sales. I guess its been happening with Minecraft too for a while.

I played it and just found it WAY too easy and generally boring. Can imagine it being fun in MP, but I don't really play MP, so...

I wouldn't say it's a terrible game, but without a doubt overhyped.

it really is. I spent a good 50 hours in there and go the plat trophy myself.

I think most of the negativity around the game stems from the fact it's marketing made it seem a lot more complex than it was - many were expecting Hitman levels of replayability when the reality is you have to complete the loop a certain way every time.

There is also a loud minority off ass hats that don't like the fact it has black / female characters and all of that shit, but we wont go there. I personally related to the protagonist quite well, but hey it's not for everyone.

From some casual observations on this forum and Reddit over the past few days/week, I have seen people wanting CoD Vanguard, Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 to fail as well. Now you could say 'yeah well those are different games', but the point is the internet is becoming filled with nonsense with people wanting games to fail for the most small minded reasons. I wouldn't worry about it - enjoy the game. I will certainly be trying it when it comes to game pass and couldn't care less Playstation got it first

Because it's different than previous games by the studio, roguelike is not as popular, heralded as being worth less or lazy.

Also because they got acquired by M$, hence for some, soldout.

And, as a finisher, because Arkane has never put a bad game out. And after a certain while that happens people start antecipating a fall from grace. You can notice the same pattern with From Software's Elden Ring.

Do some research? how about you dont tell me what to do.

I googled "IGN prey review" how can I do more research then that?

Logically, why would I say ign gave the game a low score when they "didnt". It was obv modified, I had no reason to lie or come up with some bs, thats why ur reply was useless.

"Prey sucked and was a commercial bomb. Deathloop fixes everything wrong with it. Listen to me, I'm a professional game critic and fancy lad and I know what I'm talking about."

Some narratives invite schadenfreude.

What time is it?
Modern Arkane games just don't click with me. I powered through the ups and downs of Dishonored mostly because I love stealth games. I fell off of Dishonored 2 and Prey really quickly. The art style in their games is really unappealing. The leadup to Deathloop was really weird as it was hard to get a feel for what the game was about (I'd hate to elevator pitch it). After watching some reviews, I was left pretty cold:

-aforementioned unappealing art style
-rogue elements (I can't wait until the industry moves past this trend)
-AI and physics seem fucking awful

It's $24.99 at Gamestop for Black Friday but I can't muster up any excitement as it will be on Game Pass soon enough.

See I really enjoyed the game, the most of any Arkane game in recent years.

But let's not pretend like it's perfect, I don't even understand the universal praise.

Like the game is great but it's nothing special. It's repetitive, the story is meh (the ending is truly laughable), the AI is some of the worst you'll come across in 2021 and so on. When I finished the game I had zero desire to jump back in.

Just wanted to add that the game just recently (as in yesterday) upgraded the AI so that it isn't a complete embarrassment anymore.

Just look at some of the things that the AI was incapable of doing until now:
NPC BEHAVIOR
NPCs now react to bullets passing close by, such as headshots that miss
NPCs now react when another is assassinated close by
NPCs now hear better and react faster to nearby footfalls
NPCs under fire no longer move to take cover if the player is too close
NPCs can now deduce the direction from which a grenade was thrown
Numerous other small fixes and improvements to NPC behavior, reactions, pathing, and placement

The AI was absolutely braindead and severely reduced my enjoyment of the game. It was like playing baby's first immersive sim at times lol

Did they test the game properly with the changes to fix maps and enemy placements? Like, is the game more fun because of the changes or obnoxious? I doubt most will care to try it again until it is released on gamepass.

I would imagine they did their due diligence, but I can't say for sure because I uninstalled the game shortly after getting the best ending. I only became aware of the patch because it was in my Google News for some reason.

Because it's made by a Microsoft owned dev. If it was a "real" Sony exclusive, everyone here and in the media would make it like the best thing ever since Hookah was invented.
