Is the Halo community extremely whiny or am I missing something with infinite?

a lot of them are stuck in the "good old days" when Bungie made Halo. 343 could make the best game in the world and they'd still piss and moan because it's not Bungie.

i never got into the games until last gen when Halo 5 came out. maybe the Bungie games were good when they came out but i didn't think they were that special. I much prefered Halo 4 + 5. I'm not saying they are perfect games cause there definitely are flaws but i loved playing 4 + 5 and was hyped for 6 but due to the whining of the hardcore Halo mob it pressured 343 to ditch Halo 6 and what we've got now is Infinite. I'm excited for Infinite. Aint shitting on it...haven't played it but i do have it preordered.

they are a fickle bunch. they shat on 4 + 5 (especially 5) and cried for a more traditional Halo game and now it seems we're getting it they ain't happy. I shit you NOT but i have been seeing quite a lot of people hitting out with shit like "i actually quite enjoyed Halo 5. don't listen to the hate". seriously...after all that fucking crying they are saying Halo 5 is a good game now? fuck me.
I enjoyed H5 as well, but look what we got back then on Day 1 compared to what we'll have December 8. That's why people are upset.

Was hyped for halo since i want a nice Arena shooter i can play with my friends. I knew i dont get a UT/Quake/Titanfall but what i Played on release date wasnt for me at all. Some of the worst shooting ive felt in years with bad Performance and good readable but mediocre graphics. I played on pc.

So yeah its not for me, but i probably am not the right Player for Halo. I dont See what people enjoy in halo but i didnt See it before so my biggest hope would be, that the traditional fans enjoy it.

Feels like a generational thing to me. My buddies and I are having a great time, we grew up with Halo 1 while we where in our teens.

Feels like a lot of the whining is a bleed over from kids that got started playing Fortnite or Call of Duty. If in the same sentence you can say, I'm having a great time playing the game, but the cosmetics situation makes me not feel like playing, you, you have the problem.

It's like if you aren't rewarded by a quick dopamine hit or have that constant carrot on a stick you just can't fathom playing for the sake of playing. It's mind boggling how this has evolved in gaming culture.

I feel like map/modes complaints are valid, that's at least understandable, but the cosmetic shit is such a non-issue considering nothing expires and you can unlock it at your own pace if you choose to do that.

People can be upset without being pathetic whiners.

If the game doesn't have enough content for you at launch, don't buy it. Wait for sale / more content.

Maybe I missed the trend or I’m a boomer now (maybe both). But never in my life I enjoyed unlocking stuff or a Progression system. Just give me everything from the start and if the game is good I will play it. I don’t give a f about skins in a ego shooter or weapons skins because most of the time I won’t even notice them but I don’t understand why the fans are so outraged ?

you got one of the best MP shooters of the year for free. If you don’t want to spend money , you don’t have to. It’s not like they buy better guns with the money…

it feels like infinite matched all expectations gameplay wise...but people are making it seem like the core game is affected because cosmetics are expensive.
i agree with everything you said. the only thing i would add is them launching with very limited game modes and matchmaking options. otherwise, the core game is absolutely awesome.

When other players are motivated to ignore the actual game and ruin it just to chase stupid cosmetics that is a problem.

I agree. I've always loved Halo's campaigns more than its MP, so...

But at the same time, I think it's important companies are held to the fire when they screw up, because sometimes the games are better for it. Battlefront 2 is a prime example of this.

You're only going to hurt yourself trying to comprehend the thoughts of men in their late 30s and 40s that still think Halo is cool.

Can't stand the word "community" anymore. A bunch of people playing a videogame does not constitute a community. As someone else said, stay away from specific game subreddits. It's nothing but whiny babies. Why developers listen to them (looking at you Bungie) is beyond me. You will never please them and they will ALWAYS find something to bitch about.

Halo is hype and disappointment. I bought Halo MCC at launch to play coop with kids in my life over Christmas. That game was totally broken and I missed that opportunity. The kids are now grown up and I will never forget about any of it.

I picked up Halo 5 just to play the campaign, and it blew my mind how mediocre or short it felt. That's OK though, I liked 4 so Infinite might be good. Halo Infinite multiplayer on the One X stands as a slow, bloated F2P shooter lacking game modes, maps, and features. It's only early, so I don't care much.

Along with other big first party games from Xbox, they are all seemingly getting bogged down by extreme loading times compared to older games. It takes minutes to get in and out of a Halo match and jump through the menus. Once you get into a Halo match, the game is quick and you're back watching loading screens for the match details.

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
No matter how bad Halo is it’s better than the other fps out there, 343 showed guts and decided to save the franchise, that’s history. Bungie scored big with Destiny, (an average shooter) Master Chief is getting his moment and according to reports it’s getting great reviews.

"Forgettable" is how I would describe H5's campaign. H4 at least had an interesting story, IMO, and a couple of unique levels. H5 was just completely forgettable to me. No epic levels like The Ark or The Pillar of Autumn, or Two Betrayals. Just fighting the Warden over and over.

I did enjoy Halo 5's MP. I loved Warzone, and Warzone FF. For H4, what everyone forgets, is that the community was clamoring for a more COD style game. When 343 gave exactly what people asked for, people turned on them. I thought H4's MP was good, personally. H4 BTB was especially good, IMO.

Some of the complaints are valid. 343 has historically dropped the ball and haven't proven otherwise yet. The campaign better be a 5/5 for their sake.

Reach on the MCC picked up some strange glitches during the last update. Saying they historically drop the ball would be quite accurate.

Infinite isn't underwhelming tho, even with my high expectations...the main ppl moaning are the ppl that dont have access to the game.
Please don't respond to the Sony fanboy trying to cause some weird war in the thread.

Unfortunately there is fans from every generation of Halo and want / need different things to make it their type of halo of preferred

The biggest complaints are about the Battle Pass, Store, Desync and more.

To be fair, Halo has been a very frustrating series to be fan of the last decade or so. I'm not even just talking about 343 either, since Reach was an absolutely crushing disappointment for me.

As for Infinite, I think people would be WAY more forgiving of the other flaws if they would just let people play slayer. I don't even fire the game up anymore for that reason.

My GT is Crew 511A. You can check and see I played a fair amount of MCC and H5. There's no sabotage. If you can't see that this game is sorely lacking content, I don't know what to tell you.

When I first started playing Infinite, I liked it so much, I bought the premium battle pass. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Reach stuff. But unless 343 gives people a reason to keep grinding, I can't see BP sales continuing at the rate they are now. Core gameplay is great, but I can only play the same 2 BTB maps so many times.
Agreed, they will need to add more content which they obviously will be doing. As a F2P game, expecting it to launch with every possible feature and map is silly. It's free, come back when they add content, you lose nothing.

Different games, different engines, different era.

Halo reach used the same engine as Halo 3. It shared all the same back end technologies. Halo infinite is essentially a reboot for the franchise in terms of technology.

It's also hilarious because at launch people hated reach multiplayer.

You seriously just need to stop playing the game. You clearly hate everything about it, and it's not for you. Go back to MCC, that's what it's there for - people that want to play "classic" halo.
The worst people are people like you. You complain about people's legitimate complaints while having low standards and letting companies get away with putting less effort into games. You go as far as defending them.

It's only free to the people who never will or have had the intention of buying campaign. Campaign isn't free so why are you acting like your getting something in the MP that can make up for all the missing content?

They can keep their "free" because I'll be paying for campaign but instead of getting all the content I USED to get for $60 I'm getting a whole lot less. For those playing it via Gamepass, yeah it's cheaper that way but you a)don't own the game and b) are paying MS that $60 cost you wouldve paid for a standard Halo experience anyway.

This is the argument you will get from MANY fans of Game Pass. As it is on that sub service people wont really care for missing features as they "don't pay for it as it's free on Game Pass". Ah, the future of gaming...
This ain’t exclusive to GP. Some studios only put out 8-10 hr campaigns and no one complains. But Halo has to have everything at launch for some reason.

Its funny because almost everyone is LOVING the multiplayer gameplay..but they are extremely vocal and whiny about everything else. It will get fixed, but they have no patience .

I couldn't care a fuck about Halo. Never got into it and don't care one way or another BUT, Halo is a well loved and established franchise that deserves FAR better than what the fans are being treated to so far.

It's a tough one, it's a great multiplayer, but it's nowhere near peak Halo. There is an expectation that it's gonna match the old games, and when it falls short, it feels like the franchise is still struggling to carry the Halo torch. Something all the 343 Halo games have done. But again, it's still a good multiplayer.

But what a fuck mayn, I can't even play slayer properly, I have to play these dumbass playlists.

This should never be uttered by a gamer. We should never have to rely on "they will fix it" as an excuse to safeguard the game. We should have no patience with games at launch, we should have expectations.

The game does seem to be perfect boiling pot for toxicity.

It's a long running franchise with a large fanbase so you'll have people who want everything to stay just like the "good old days" and will hate on anything different fighting with newer fans the prefer the newer iterations of the game, fighting with older fans that like some of the new changes but not all of them, fighting with people who will instantly hate anything 343 makes simply because they aren't bungie, etc.

And it's also the first big F2P entry in the franchise so you'll have people that hate the F2P model, people that like it, people that like it being F2P but also want it to be extremely content packed and with no microtransactions, etc.

I’m a die hard halo fan and I’m super happy with halo infinite so far.

Multiplayer is fantastic, battle pass sucks, optimization isn't great but campaign sounds good. Subreddit just blowing thins out of proportion since the only bad things can be fixed

I feel like the majority have been very happy with Infinite's multiplayer. I mean the only real issues I acknowledged revolved around progression/battle pass flow, etc.

Subreddits have just become such absolute shit. I've seen people just make comments that make sense but go against the grain of someone that was whining, and they get downvoted to oblivion. Attempt to converse with someone being super negative, and get called a ass kisser, etc. It's pretty obnoxious. It all just becomes an echo chamber of people bitching.

I was curious to check it out and see how bad it was myself, but seeing that it was locked tells me that it was certainly bad enough, lol.

Because Halo always HAVE had everything at launch. Why are we so willing to accept a downgrade in content, especially BASIC content that is absent like separate Playlist for Slayer or Rumble? His point stands, the only reason they are getting away with missing features is because it's on GamePass. This is exactly what people were worried about happening due to Gamepass. It's lowering the bar. The game isn't really free to play either. That's another thing that they're only doing because they know being on GamePass gives them a "free pass" with some of you. If your playing the campaign, either through GamePass or by spending $60 on it, it's not free to play either.

Remember, now 343's top priority is no longer on making the best Halo they can, it's on selling as much shit as they can with the BattlePsss and on microtransactions. Like every other game that's gone this route, it's going to ruin the franchise imo. We're already seeing the beginnings of it. Lots of decisions are already being made that are hurting the integrity of the game. Call me old school if you want but after the hype from release and the hype of the campaign dies out we are left with a "ten year live service plan" for Infinite.

The stuff missing doesn’t bother me personally besides not having a dedicated slayer playlist. An obvious more maps. Never cared for forge and always play co op later. The most important thing for me is that they nailed the gameplay and it offers me enough right now to want to continue to play it everyday. In comparison to other games that come out nowadays I feel it has a fair amount of content. Even if I paid for it.

What’s the gold standard nowadays in comparison?

It’s not gamepass either. I bought TLOU2 last year and still waiting for the MP. Did that affect its reviews? No it was praised and won awards

Old Halo heads want a fps game that isn't succesful anymore.

New Halo heads want a more modern game.

Somehow they took a come back moment for the series and went to war with each other like some Twitter console warriors. It's embarrassing

So true, well said.

It's nice to see that there will be MP content unlocked via the SP.

The answer is quite simple. Yes they are massively pathetic and whiney. I get banned from the halo reddit all the time for challenging those cretins.

They literally want to see halo buried or for some reason think halo 3’s model would work in 2021.

They get a polished multiplayer game, which is completely free, which had a smooth launch and will get lots of - free - new content, modes, maps etc. Honestly the community is absolute cancer. It’s a bunch of men in their 30s crying they can’t get all their skins for free. The fucking core game is free we dont give a fuck you’d rather pay 60 bucks like you did for halo 3 times have fucking changed.

Don’t get me wrong, some things 343 did arent great but i’m confident things will get better. And did I mention the game is motherfucking free to play?
