Your game of the year for 2021?

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
IMO, overall this has been a really bad year for software. I own a Switch, PS5, and a Quest 2. Across the board I could count the really great titles in one hand. The Virus is a big reason why.

I don't care for the franchise games like Call of Duty, Madden, Battlefield, etc anymore due to be being burned out on them ages ago.

My runner up Game: Ratchet and Clank: A rift apart. Easy to argue it's the prettiest game ever made but the more important part is it's just pure Fun. A story line that doesn't take itself too seriously, Silky Smooth 60 fps gameplay, An interesting Upgrade/currency system, it's simply a joy to play.

My GAME OF THE YEAR FOR 2021: This is a shocker but most will not play it. This game takes and old outdated game and totally makes it feel like a new experience. The original was GOTY when it released but playing this in First person mode along with being inside the world totally makes it feel like a new experience. I haven't had fun playing a game like this in a long time. A classic remade. RESIDENT EVIL 4 VR FOR QUEST 2 is my GOTY for 2021.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Most fun I've had all year and I don't care that is a remaster of old games. They did a great job packaging the three games into one and incorporating all the DLC.

Runner up is close between Ratchet and Clank and Psychonauts 2, but I had more fun playing Ratchet and Clank.

I don’t feel there’s many in contention. Returnal, Ratchet, FH5, Halo Infinite multiplayer, Metroid Dread and MH Rise are the best for me this year. Not a vintage year really, but not a bad year either.

I don't get the whole "it was a bad year for games" I see some people saying. I had a blast this year, some of those most fun I've had in ages.

Not sure I can pick a GotY.

If I HAD to it would be Metroid Dread. The other choice is Returnal. I might honestly swap them if I played Metroid in April and Returnal in October. I can't tell if there is a recency bias going on for me there. Either game is more than deserving though. Both of them just loaded with gameplay, gameplay, gameplay and all the production values that make a game top shelf.

I've had too much fun with Forza Horizon 5. It's by far my favourite game of the year, although I have enjoyed so many. It's been a great year. Ratchet and Clank was another awesome one. I haven't got around to Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2 and Deathloop yet.

I’m only considering games that I’ve completed. It’s a toss up between Disco Elysium and Far Cry 6, two games I played from beginning to end without wanting to play anything else. I’ve really enjoyed Returnal as well, but having not managed to finish it yet, it misses out on my GOTY. Shout out goes to R&C, F12021 and WRC 10.

Gotta admit, played mostly GaaS this year so haven't tried that many new titles.

But halo infinite is by far my goty for this year and probably also the next couple of years to come.

Halo Infinite is the only game that broke the WoW Shadowlands cycle for me so it has to be that, in honesty.

I have no clue when it actually came out but the best game I played all year was deadly Premonition 2. I bought my switch for Metroid but DP2 actually made the purchase worth it.

I had no idea this game would be as epic as it was! Only weakness was being on the repetitive side. Music and art are beautiful!

Runner up is another remake!

Same for me, actually. Even the runner ups. I loved jumping back into Mass Effect with practically no load times. Awesome experience.

Deathloop or Halo Infinite...im leaning deathloop but Halo multiplayer feels soooooo good. I still need to beat returnal tho so it may creep up.
