jfc its literally hours away. the amount shit threads that have been popping up about halo today seriously need to be locked. they are clearly being posted by people who just want to shit on the game. post it in the OT at least, thats why the OT is there. we dont need 17 other threads crying about every little thing you dont like

The game doesnt unlock for another 5 hours. For all we know the console isnt letting the disk version boot until there is like an unlock patch at 6pm UK time, if you get what i mean.

Every gaming platform requires some sort of online requirement these days, so its pretty weird singleing out one game

It's an offline single player game that seemingly doesn't even have the full game on disc, Unless it's just waiting on verification, but only having 15GB of data makes that unlikely

Pretty unique. Especially for a flag ship FP title

In a pedantic way your right.
But anyone trying to game on a PS5 or xbox series without an online connection is going to run into problems.

Its 2021, You might aswell complain that games require electricity if your going to complain about needing the internet.

It's not really pedantic. I can't think of any other big single-player game that doesn't have the full game on disc.

There was that case with the Spyro or Crash trilogy I think, but that's it.

There’s the same thread on Reee and the fake outrage in there is hilarious.

Some people convinced themselves for an entire year that Halo would end up terrible. They probably had folders full of Craig memes in preparation for the troll party. Then the MP came out and the game play was highly praised, so suddenly non-gameplay impacting cosmetics became the most important part of Halo. Now the campaign is being praised and has a high MC score, so we're hearing things about "biomes" and this now.

Based on their output over the last couple of days, Eurogramer seems to be one of these people.

Yeah they’re latching on to anything they can. Game is releasing in a few hours anyway so they’re gonna have to find something else asap

This is literally worse than most Switch download schemes.

The disc is only Mortal Kombat 11. All of the "Ultimate" content is via a download code. The PS4 version isn't like that, it has the full game on the disc. But for some baffling reason WB made the PS5 disc just MK11 and all the Ultimate stuff a code; meaning it's not possible to buy a used version of this game. It's basically an Online Pass.

Isn't the ultimate stuff just DLC in the first place? This is the base game not being on disc. Pretty different from that

Not having the full game on disc is shit. Period.

Not only because you need to download the rest. But if you uninstall the game, you'll have to download it again everytime.

Maybe if you go somewhere with no internet connection and you want to play the campaign, you are fucked

It's not a deal breaker or anything, but it's not great

I buy all games digital, but there's a reason why people buy on disc to this day

This is next level bullshit. In my 30 years of gaming I can't recall a situation where I couldn't play a game that I bought on a disc.

I preordered Halo Infinite on Steam but this morning I decided to go to my local game store and pick up physical version for Series X to start playing early. The piece of shit doesn’t work. It even prompts you to preorder campaign once you get to main menu for another 60 EUR which just adds insult to injury.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck :messenger_hushed:

I'm wondering why the physical version evem exists other than maybe just something for people to buy as a Christmas present?
MS are both the console preservation kings and dunce at the same time, they make a good job of making sure you can play some of the old games on their console... on the other hand they release a disc game that doesn't work until you download a stupid patch.

Physical discs should "just work", especially on a console.

Imagine the day when the servers are decommissioned or MS/xbox gets bored of keeping patches for old games around? I say this an old timer who has seen a lot of online DRM systems go over the years... Like you can make the argument for services like gamepass/psnow/etc. the games expire anyway when you stop paying, so if they discontinue the service this is just part of the deal.

physical media needs to die. there's no need for it anymore. so now you need internet to activate the disc, internet to patch it, internet to add DLC. when servers go down you won't get patches/DLC anymore so i hope once you install it your drive never fails. or you'll be playing whatever is on the disc (if you can even activate it again lol).

people who buy physical media like to pretend their little pieces of plastic aren't affected by the digital future but they are. the day i lose access to my digital games the only thing your disc will be good for is sitting your coffee mug on it or seeing how far you can throw it.

i really hope next gen both MS + Sony abandon discs completely. also the amount of plastic and paper that is used is shocking. there's really no need for it and that would be a huge amount of waste avoided.

I mean this has been going on for years now, and with the state games launch in these days, does it really matter?, as you wont be able to patch them in the future anyway.

Besides like i said in my earlier post, the console maybe stopping the disk version from booting until the unlock patch is downloadied in 4 hours. People can try later if you can boot the game from disk when offline.

What other game you could buy on a disc and not be able to play it for an entire day?

Why are people defending this shit?
