How Xbox Was Finally Proven Right in 2021

I do work there. I picked 8 (yes 8) of those Switches off of the floor myself for in store pick up. Series X resupply always sells out in a day. PS5 resupply always sells out in a day (once it is dropped online). Switch resupply lasts 3 days tops, however selling out in a day is not unusual. Series S resupply consistently lasts a week+. And this is a Target in a major city (Pittsburgh) not some small one out in the boonies. I just checked online and that Fortnite+Rocket League Series S bundle is still available.

"little made up story" lol. Was it really that hard to believe? People predicted Series S would be far less desirable than the top of the line consoles the day it was announced. I even stated from the beginning that my story was anecdotal, however citing the fact that the Series S is still very much available in store around the country made me confident that my experience was not at all unique.

Based on what the market is saying, Series S sells primarily because it is the only thing left not because it is "affordable." There is no reason for Sony to copy that when they are selling everything they make as soon as they can make it.

You say PS does not have supply and that with the S MS is "is able to sell consoles and grow their user base" and yet the PS5 continues to widen it's units sold through gap as time goes on (at least from the data I have been able to find, MS will not give us the numbers themselves). PS is doing just fine, their strategy is working for them. They are making those cross gen games for one simple reason: money. The PS5 has sold more than the PS4 or PS3 (and for about 8 months, the PS2) did at this point and they had hardly any cross gen games that were not sports games. Jim wants to sell to that 100 million+ base because he can, not because the PS5 has not sold enough. It is the second-fastest selling PlayStation in history, that makes no sense. There is also the fact that it has PS5-only first party games (Demon's Souls, Returnal, Destruction All-Stars, Rift/Apart) so it is clearly at the publisher/developer's discretion. And I would say MS is the one with supply issues. I believe they put in a smaller chip order than Sony did and up until 2 months ago I almost never saw a Series X in the building after launch, whereas PS5s would drop in at least once a month.

Still waiting on the receipts for that "gaining marketshare" claim.
Lol. My bad. You work at target. I figured, what are the odds this guy works at target. You got me. I'll eat crow.
Is the ps5 still ahead of the ps4 launch aligned? You also have to take into account that the ps4 only launched in a few counties at first whereas the ps5 was a worldwide release. It was several months until the ps4 was available in Japan! But I think in the next several months the ps5 will fall behind the ps4 launch aligned. Sony just isn't able to produce enough due to chip shortages. If they had made a lower end console that wouldn't be an issue. And again, they already have a port studio and they're making more and more games for pc so down porting to a lower end console isn't much more work for them. They got the people to do it!

Series s obviously doesn't have the same demand as the xsx or ps5 but ms is able to supply a lot more of these units and they're selling!

Significantly better because it has some new powers? It is the same combat with like 10% new things and it make the game even more easier than before.
Vanilla spidey has more costumes with superpowers to balance things a little.
Sure morales was a lot of fun, but not better than vanilla unless you really love morales and his chipmunk voice.

Yeah not when i'm playing an open world game, i don't buy these games for a short campaign.
Especially when an expansion like morales cost 60 euros here in europe.

Witcher 3 dlcs are both big and incredibly well done.

Yes, I REALLY like Morales more than Peter Parker (Peter is great obviously). The gameplay was better (minute to minute) and it had less "fluff". And the story was better.

Seems basic enough. When you look at November with PS/Xbox being roughly neck-and-neck, that's a very important thing for MS. Even though consoles aren't the end-all be-all for them, I think it's important that they compete in their best market, their home turf if you will. At least to the point they did last-gen (at worst a bit behind but still very competitive). Not sure if they could do that with the XSX alone, the bigger chip and all that would probably leave them with significantly fewer units to sell (even if they were selling those out in an instant). The XSS is doing its job by allowing them to survive this part shortage with a decent amount of units out in the world, plus it offers a nice value to end customers, a win-win.

Once we start getting current-gen only releases, demand for XSS will only continue to rise. The little device is a raging success IMO, it never needed to be the most sought after.

Forza Horizon games are set in completely different countries, I would think that everyone can actually quite easily remember what country each is set in, so to say they are " low effort" is quite disingenuous. It's well documented how much work Playground Games did on location for each game, to just dismiss that in the way you have shows no respect for the developer.

Also claiming something is " rushed out the door" when it took six years to make and was actually delayed for a whole year whilst still reviewing extremely well is a poor take, I suppose facts don't matter when you have an agenda to push though.

Keep on trucking on that console war, kiddo. Maybe someday papa Microsoft will recognize you exist (they won't).

How is the story better?

- It's more concise and to the point. Every part was extremely understandable. I never felt lost in the story.
- It felt more NYC to me than the OG Spiderman game.
- The villian wasn't as good in MM, but I LOVED the relationship between Myles and the villian. To the OG's credit, the relationship between Peter and Doc Ock was super awesome too.
- I related to Myles Morales more.
- The pacing was better.

So i guess its a matter of you liking more concise and short stories more than the quality itself.

If you avoid the sidequest, the vanilla campaign wasn't that long, surely not on the latest 3 ac\days gone 40 hours campaign tier for open worlds games, it was more like 15 hours against the 6-8 of morales.

Sure, but the price reflected that to its credit. Much like LL.

You weren't paying $60-$70USD, you were paying $40-50USD.

Not for morales, i paid that thing 60 euros, exactly the same price of complete games at launch on ps4 if you buy online and 10 euros more than what i pay usually for complete games at launch in my physical shop that has an offer where if you just preorder, you pay 50 euros instead of 70.

I see, it was $50USD here and $70USD for the edition that included the Spider-Man remaster. Which reminds me, have yet to play them, so going to launch the remaster for the first time tonight.

Bitch you need to play horizon first.

Don't play the game a couple of days before the sequel, you can develop some fatigue if you do that, it happens even with the better brands.

You know what? Good point. Horizon did come out before Spider-Man anyhow.

It shall be done!
Just for the record, you are gonna break my heart if you are not gonna like the game...

Just don't do many sidequest if you are not that interested in the lore or if you don't find the combat loop fun (this is a combat based game so you solve quests like that most of the times except for the dlc where they are more developed), avoid to search metal flowers or viewpoints\collectibles, that represent the fat that you can trim without much loss.

fuck almost forgot some sidequest gave you companions for the final battle, so if you feel that some characters are more developed\interesting than others do their sidequests.

Try to read all the documents\audio log in the main missions locations, a lot of micro-details that make the story\lore great are there.
And read a non-spoilery guide on where to find the batteries for the techy armour (or just explore really well during the story missions), it is kinda useless on ultra hard imo but it is cool as fuck.

I sent you a DM so we don't continue to derail this thread. Just realized which topic we were in.

No quality matters too. I'd say half of it has to do with me just liking Morales more than Peter Parker too. Tim boots, bubble winter jacket, Harlem, etc. It's up my alley. With a sprinkle of more concise.

That's not a bad thing for spender to say at all. In fact its just what i was hoping. they will have more games that cater to older gamer crowds. Multiplayer is fun but it doesn't have the appeal it did for me 15 to 20 years ago.

It's all good.

According to VGChartz (yes, I know) it just passed PS5 in November and is ahead by just under 200,00 units. I never really saw the point of qualifying the PS5's launch compared to the others simply because it was better coordinated. Whichever sprinter crosses the line first is the one who wins, not the one that had a bad start but the highest top speed. Even then it could be qualified in the opposite manner that the PS5 would sell even more if production was not so constrained and that is a factor beyond any electronics designer's control.
But I think in the next several months the ps5 will fall behind the ps4 launch aligned. Sony just isn't able to produce enough due to chip shortages. I think we can just agree to disagree on whether or not PS should have made a Series S equivalent. PlayStations' strategy seems to be working for them. Xbox's strategy seems to be working for them. I doubt either one would go back and time and copy the other if they had the chance.

I replied because something happened today that reminded me of this thread. There was a PS5 drop today where we sold all of the PS5s we had built up over the past 3 weeks. At least 70 consoles, 8 of them Digital Editions, before 8:50 A.M. There are still 3 Series S Fortnite/Rocket League bundles sitting in the case for anyone to walk up and buy over the counter, there were 6 a week and a half ago.
