This.

L4D still top any others clone around. Such an amazing game. Wish they did remaster last gen because playing CO-OP on Xbox 360 even Xbox 360 being a weak machine was so fucking fun.
To this day I still play l4d and l4d2 split screen on xbox 360. The first one has a better balance and I like it more but #2 has the melee weapons which feel great to use.

I’d love it MS did a game boost update to make it 60fps on series condoles.

I'm confused about the video title. Turtle Rock Studios laid the foundation in the first game and Valve built upon it in the second. How did Valve "carry" the franchise exactly?

B4B isn’t the worst game. But it has the absolutely fatal flaw of being a co-op shooter that requires thinking. I don’t want to fuck around with nerdy card shit when I’m 4+ beers deep on discord with my bro’s. I want to be shooting zombies and giggling like a fool at all of the retarded mods that I have installed like Homer Simpson Chainsaw, Whichney Houston, Surprise Motherfucker pipebombs, etc etc. L4D2 is the most perfect beer and bro game ever made.

Valve made good zombie games, Turtle Rock didn't. Turtle Rock made it seem like they were the creators of the good games, when most of the L4D team is still at Valve.
I'm still confused by your post though man. Turtle Rock Studios made Left 4 Dead before Valve bought them. As for Back 4 Blood, it's understandably dogshit but was anybody surprised?

Can you believe L4D/L4D2 runs splitscreen on Xbox 360 with 10 MB eDRAM, and B4B not only can't be played splitscreen on next gen consoles, but require constant internet connection?

A Fucking Idiot
Absolutely bloody fantastic video that sums everything up just perfect. I played 4 mins of B4B and noped out as I could tell immediately it was janky and missing all the special sauce that made L4D what it was.

90% of games nowadays are cheap af anyway, not just B4B.

It's videogames we're talking about yet interaction hasn't evolved a bit since ps1 era.

One of best games for mods, even the fan campaigns have more care then B4B.

I recently finally got a headset for my Series X and have been wanting to jump into B4B. Tried to find a lobby for newbies and no luck. Seems like I missed the boat on this one. I realize it's not up to original L4D standards but it would be nice to jump into the game with like minded people. Too late?
What headset if you dont mind me asking ? Been looking to buy one for my series x as well so want to gather some experience.

Been finding B4B pretty fun myself. Not found it especially buggy, and honestly the netcode is way better than the last few CoD's which is a huge bonus.

Yes and also we went from 4 player split on goldeneye 64 to 0 splitscreen on a lot of games xD

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
It's rare to have people actually acknowledge and appreciate in-depth design like this nowadays (just look at all the trollers trashing BOTW likening it to Ubicrap or dissing From Software in favor of Bluepoint over a PS3 game's 1:1 remake). Great video, even if it may come across as a little mean.

Still Turtle Rock made a pretty good game in Journey of the Gods, maybe the excitement of the VR medium or the financial security of a project funded by Oculus made them experiment and work things out in better ways. It's still a small scale project fully linear with some padding but very nice.

I do wish they made a bigger better more epic less padded/flawed sequel to that game instead, oh well.

lol at the end changing the steam page description.

For real though, Evolve proved that Turtle Rock are quite incompetent. Hey, let's make a glorified cat and mouse game where you spend most of the match just running around in circles in a large map.

It’s like Gears vs Gears 5 all over again.

Couldn’t even bother getting through the demo of this. No atmosphere, and clearly it is the detail that always is a sum of its parts - so obvious when presented like this.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Most of the people who laid the foundation went on to work at Valve and the studios is still updating the games.

while the Turtle Rock Studios now comprises of only selected individuals who worked on L4D games, but a larger part are new hires who previously worked on Evolve.

Recently bought B4B on sale and I've been having a blast playing solo, cleared both Recruit and Vet difficulties. Throughout though I kept feeling like something was missing, simple stuff like dismemberment which is in literally every zombie game I've ever played as just one example. I've never played L4D, just finished watching this vid and wow, give me a remaster collection of these games *now* 🤯🤯🤯.

Back 4 Blood is a mess and I just don't think Turtle Rock understands what made L4D so great. The simplicity made it enjoyable and it all of the unnecessary junk (loot, rogue lite card system, etc.) just detracts from the experience. The infected designs are also a massive step down from the L4D analogs. To a much lesser extent, I felt the same way about L4D2 with respect to the new equipment and special zombie types. L4D will never be topped and more specifically, the No Mercy campaign will never be topped. It had something that a lot of the other campaigns failed to deliver, which was fair level lengths for both the zombie and survivors.
I only played the demo beta for B4B, but...I agree with every single point made in this post. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Even though they ported all the L4D1 levels into L4D2 -- which I do appreciate -- I still just prefer to play the actual L4D1, at the end of the day.

There's nothing wrong trying to revive a good franchise though. Since Valve don't give a damn, at least there was a team to take over and try their best.

L4D is better yes but it does not make B4B hot garbage either. It's good fun with its fault, that's it.

I only watched the last part with the credits. Wow. I didn't follow this game to know they kept plugging Valve as the key PR point to sell this game. Talk about misleading gamers. But that's video game companies for ya.

It's like EA promoting Bioware an an RPG behemoth, yet going by what people say all the key employees and founders left the company probably 10 years ago or more.

I had been searching for a while to find one perfect for my needs and ended up buying the SteelSeries Arctis 9X wireless headset. The thing is not cheap. Retails for $200. Traded in my PS4 so I paid nothing. Comfortable and great sound. Also doesn't look "gamery" so that's nice. It connects via the same wireless protocol as Xbox controllers. Has Bluetooth as well so you can answer phone calls while gaming. Retractable mic is nice touch too. Look into it.

Whatever headset you end up with, make sure to purchase the Dolby Atmos app. It automatically utilizes its game mode but I find if you change the sound profile to movie it's far better. Their game mode sounds a bit hollow while movie is much louder and more full. There's a free trial to play around with it so I definitely would if I were you. I ended up paying about $11 after the free trial.

This physics tech is impressive even by today’s standards, specially when you consider that L4D could have hundreds of zombies at the same time.

As for B4B, even Vermintide and Deep Rock are better at Left. 4 Deading than this wannabe

This isn't made by the L4D creators. Its by Turtle Rock, which ironically is a shell of what they used to be. B4B was on GP, so I dodged a bullet. Didn't enjoy it much.

I enjoyed Back 4 Blood but holy shit I just forgot about those details in L4D. Goes to show how so the Source engine was SO much ahead of its time and kinda sad that Valve did not do more with it in gaming. L4D2, Half-Life2 are masterpieces.

My reaction to playing B4B: "Oh, this is grea..no it isn't"

Good thing it was on Gamepass. The video is truth.
