Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy officially coming to PS5 & PC

yeah it's crazy.
At least do fucking 4k checkerboard 60 or something.
If it's 1440p 30 on ps4 pro... it should easily be 4k60 on ps5.
I might play 4k30 myself if 1440p is still as blurry as it is originally
4K checkerboard and native 1440p are about the same pixel count per frame.

That's why Ghost, Horizon, Days Gone, and God of War are 4KCB @ 60 Hz, while Demon's Souls, TLOU2, and Uncharted 4/LL are 1440p @ 60 Hz. Native 1440p doesn't have the motion artifacts that 4K checkerboard has, but its not as sharp. None of those games could run at much higher resolutions, like 1800p, and still lock at 60 Hz. They're all just 60 Hz versions of the PS4 Pro versions bascially.

Until reading this thread, I honestly thought this remaster bundle included 1 through 4 plus Lost legacy. And in thinking that, I thought the $10 upgrade fee for people who owned the PS4 versions of those games wasn't too bad of a deal. Now, after learning it's just 4 and LL, not so much.

I just can't validate upgrading to a PS5 version when the "upgrades" are so relatively minor. I mean, I can just play the PS4 versions in BC on PS5 while leaving them on my 8TB USB drive, as opposed to eating up precious space on the sparse 2.66TB of PS5 SSD I currently have, just for a few (IMO) superfluous improvements.

I want native 4K/60 should be possible on ps5. No fake 4K CB crap tired of that.

Where is Uncharted 5? when that comes out I might then consider the PS5 more.....and hopefully by then there will be a PS5-slim instead of the current one taking over a whole shelf space....(well not quite...but you get what I mean..)

lol is this a joke? laziest cash grab ever. PS5 should be able to do 4K 60, it's not like they are adding any new effects or ray tracing or anything, wow.

Then we got Lost Legacy... I expect a new Uncharted 5 even if not Drake, or maybe he will have to come out of retirement because his daughter was kidnapped after he killed tens of thousands lol

Days Gone on PC at native 4K averages around 44 FPS on a AMD RX 6700 XT, which is a stronger GPU than the PS5 GPU.
Horizon Zero Dawn on PC at native 4K averages around 50 FPS on the RX 6700 XT.

Even with lower settings, the PS5 doesn't have the power to hit native 4K at a locked 60 FPS for these games. Its not possible for most of Sony's games to go from 1080p30 on PS4 to 2160p60 on PS5. Most are too heavy. That's why most PS5 games use 4K upscaling / DRS when running at 60 FPS. (Not to mention the various limits Sony has on patching PS4 games running in BC mode on PS5.)

Good lord no.

They pretty much concluded his story, if they are doing another game I'd imagine a prequel with Drake and Sully, or like Sam and Sully, heck throw Chloe and Nadine and even Cutter in there too. There's a lot of material they can play with outside of Drake and Elena.

Yes, but we were discussing about Uncharted "5", which for me would include Drake by default.

Nathan is such a fun and cool character though. I don't know why they retired him or suggested that he's done.

Agreed. Uncharted 1,2 and 3 had a light hearted tone to them and Drake was a very witty character, it's one of the reasons why i enjoyed them so much and it's something I felt other franchises like Tomb Raider lacked.

Uncharted 4 was a much more mature and serious game compared to the others which is why i wasn't a biggest fan of the actual story but nevertheless I still really enjoyed it.

If they can find a way to reintroduce Drake without making it feel like they're milking his character then that would be ideal but I don't see it happening. His story had to come to a conclusion at some point.

This isnt comparable because its utilizing settings not acheiable in the original game. Set this to equivalent PS4 settings and youd likely be running at over 90 - 100

Uncharted 4 was always gonna be Nate's last game, even when Amy Hennig was writing and directing it.

Naughty Dog have said they don't want to keep making Uncharted. It would be creatively boring.
I get that, but it was how it was written after Neil took over and overhauled the story (which I can read Amy's version)... but then there's the Uncharted movie coming out, so clearly Sony isn't done with Nathan Drake. They will probably continue with other studios in possibly LL styled games, and I hope it's not his daughter since we already have Tomb Raider, but prequels (side stories) of other adventures would be more ideal.

The Uncharted movie began over 13 years ago lol. They were just getting started with Nate.

"In 2008, film producer Avi Arad stated that he was working with a division of Sony to develop the film adaptation of Uncharted."

If Sony ends up doing more Uncharted games, it'll probably 1) not be by Naughty Dog and 2) star a young Nate not played by Nolan North.

Not to mention how Nolan North was sick of playing Nate and wanted to stop.

So if I only purchased A Thief's End, I will receive The Lost Legacy for $10?

Lol yeah. It basically was repeatedly cancelled and resurrected. Think it had like 8 different directors attached to over the decade and a half its been in development hell.

I hope its a fun movie but I have my doubts.
I remember that, and remember back in 2009-2010 Nathan Fillion had a Twitter campaign with his interest to play Drake. Oh what could have been.

Yes, you will get both for $10.

Comparisons like this completely ignore the obvious element of optimization. This is from a first party developer stop making these kinds of comparisons thinking you’re proving a point. You’re not it’s reductive and intellectually lazy.

Now, 3 hours later, you reply again to the same post with lazy bait.

I'm sorry you're upset about video games on the internet.

What does optimization entail? Set everything to very low?

You'll likely get a better experience if the PS5 ran at high at a lower or the same resolution.

Remember this guy in Uncharted 4? No? Well he was Enrique Gomez and his daughter is out for revenge against Nathan. You actually get to play as her too, and Nate during alternate storylines across the same timeframe. It's cray.

And that the Xbox Series S was a good decision by MS to make. Yet, they can't take it when they see these games aren't 4K\60 lol
To be fair, it was supposed to be the 1440p/60fps next gen machine, but some games are 720p/30 (Matrix Awakens Demo) or 540p/60 (Metro Exodus). I can't even imagine how the rest of this generation goes once cross-gen is over.

Bro why are you flexing how big your HDD is? Nobody cares and the size is irrelevant to your point.

On topic:
I'll probably have fun switching between the 3 modes but ultimately I'll likely settle on the 120fps one. I did for dirt 5 anyway.

Thats very high settings though. PS4 games typically used medium to high settings.

It's very simple. If the 4.2 tflops Polaris GPU in the Pro can run this at 1440p 30 fps then the 10.2 tflops RDNA 2.0 GPU with its 1.25x IPC gain should be able to do better than 1440p 60 fps. Especially considering the fact that there is an insanely powerful CPU in the PS5 and an laughably bad CPU in the PS4 Pro.

If a game runs at 1080p 30 fps on a basic ass GCN 1.0 1.84 tflops GPU and a 1.6 GHz CPU then a RDNA GPU thats equivalent to roughly 16 GCN 1.0 tflops should be able to run it native 4k 60 fps. Especially on the PS5 which has an IO thats supposed to make the synergy between the CPU, GPU and Memory so much better.

It's possible that they werent able to get it to run at a locked 60 fps similar to what happened with death stranding where it dipped during boss fights, but then again KojiPro went with 1800p 60 fps locked framerate which is 50% more pixels than 1440p. They also had the ingenious idea of introducing a widescreen mode like the order that increased the FOV and offered a locked 60 fps mode at native resolution. They also left the native 4k mode unlocked for gamers who dont care about some drops during boss fights.

THAT is how you port stuff. Especially when you are charging for it.
