  • Limits: 3 screenshots per post. If you have more than 3, make more posts or use thumbnails.
  • Spamming: No more than 3 consecutive posts of the same game. Link to an album of your collection.
  • Naming: Always include the name of the game with the screenshots. Not everyone is a game encyclopedia.
  • Compression: If it's visible you will be called out. Follow the JPEG guide below.
  • Emulators: Emulator screens are fine. However, you should list the emulator used.
  • Stretching: Do not post stretched screenshots. Do not take 2.35 screens unless you know what you are doing.
  • Spoilers: Please do not post major plot points from games released in the last 2 months.
  • Thinking: Think before you post. Is the screenshot really worth posting? Does anyone care about some ugly texture you found? No.
  • Feelings: Did someone hurt your feelings? PM a mod. Take your drama elsewhere.

  • Custom Resolutions: If you have an Nvidia or an AMD card, create a couple custom resolutions over 1080p.
  • Steam: You can tell Steam to also save lossless screens when hitting the button and choose and output folder.
  • FastStone: It's free and quite easy. You can resize a whole folder with different options and convert to .png/.jpeg.
  • Irfanview/Photoshop: Use one of these to convert to .png from .bmp, crop out black bars or resize pictures.
  • Zoner PS: Another Photoshop alternative, recommended by Angelus Errare.
  • Alo81's JPEG Guide: Everything you need to know about saving as a JPEG.
  • HDR+WCG Image Viewer: To manipulate HDR shots (.jxr). Easily convert your screenshot into .png without loss.

  • Imgur: The most used in this tread, almost no loss during the upload, simple to use.
  • Flickr: Two terabytes of storage and great for screenshot library management.
  • Lensdump: Free unlimited permanent image storage with almost no loss in quality.

theguides.jpg

  • Alo81's JPEG Guide: Everything you need to know about saving as a JPEG without getting shanked.
  • MrRoderick's Screenshot Compendium: A great thread filled with advice on advanced techniques for screenshotting specific games.
  • Nvidia Inspector: This guide covers how to force AA externally and the basics of using the program.
  • Radeon Pro: Pretty self explanatory, follows a lot of the basics from Nvidia Inspector.
  • SGSSAA: This guide on Guru3D covers how to implement Sparse Grid Super Sampling.
  • HBAO+ Compatibility guide: HBAO+ Flags to be used with NvidiaInspector to improve or add ambiant occlusion on many games.

This game looks amazing but watching my flatmate playing TR: Underworld last night really confirmed for me how much better the "puzzle climbing" is in the older games (Thats not even originals as well, its the 2nd trilogy). The character design is also so much better in the older games, even with so much less detail it just looks like a cooler character, regardless of her chest size.

I really hope they will reboot TR again and make it like the older ones, where shes basically an asshole James Bond but in Indiana Jones scenarios. She literally goes and raids tombs, takes lost artifacts and finds out all this new historical knowledge and then she just keeps it all for herself lol. Brilliant.

Tag, you're it.
So I've put a temporary header, if you want another screenshot (I think we could change it every month, as some sort of a highlight for a good shot) send me a PM !

Nice. Even Rise of the Tomb Raider still looks good now that you can really push the visuals with DLSS - and it's seven years old now. These are very technically impressive games.

RotTR looks more realistic than SotTR to me, both the environment and character models. SotTR is technologically more advanced but has a weird look to it, it's too colorful and materials kind of look like clay, the game just looks more cartoonish overral. I prefer how RotTR looks.

I think they do that because most people still have crappy (for black level and HDR) direct-lit or edge-lit LCDs and if you give those sets pure black it just ruins the average picture level (ie makes the brighter parts too dim) because it tries to find a balance where it doesn't make the darkness/black too grey.

You have an 48" OLED though don't you I think? You're fucking gravy mate.

That might be a reason. Thankfully they have that command to bring back proper black levels.
Yeah I game in oled in my face. Good games like this I turn off all lights. Even keyboard and case rgb and get immersed. You turn off the flashlight and the tv disappears.
Evil within 2 was one of best games to play like that!

Honestly I sell TVs for a living and there are some clips I can play on low end LCD TVs and it looks so bad because the TV doesn't know what to do and makes everything flat and dull but also makes the background pure grey/blue, like this one:

Watch that on your OLED, its fucking awesome.

Well done, this looks excellent! Kind of reminds me of RDR2 a little bit in some of those shots. Any chance you could share the modlist?
compilation trigger / merged files are script merges so they are not mods. everything else are mods.

Gameplay tweaks to make the witcher 3 playable in my view are, as the stock value's are dog shit.
- Over 9000 weight, so u can now hoard all your loot now.
- UnlimitedDurability, no longer repair your weapons, absolute worst thing they added into teh game.
- Travel from anywhere, ( does break quests at times as sometimes triggers are outside doors of quest area's where normally walk through, if you teleport quest breaks, nothing to bad tho, had it 5 times but could easily be fixed by reloaded a ealier save. Still massively improves movement in the game to the point u actually don't have to run around like a idiot for countless of hours
- removecamerashakeeffect, no longer wobble camera when u run on horse / gerald or ciri. super annoying in this game.
- Applyoil or whatever its called exactly, automatically loads oil so no longer have to manually do it. which is annoying as hell.

Things i heavily advice to get.
- AMM, basically can make your horse and gerald from the start look like how u want, all cosmetic as no stats will be adjusted. Really good. Instead of looking like a hobbo the entire game, u now look great. same for your horse. U can also disable it by 1 button whenever u want and reload it. its so simple.
- Tweaks, now run everything at 2-3 steps higher then base game settings and far more control over settings in general.
- Textures all of them, huge huge improvement over the base game, honestly with the textures on armor / weapons / faces / enviroment being on par with ac valhalla i would say, it really pushes the game into a new dimension.
- longshadows / true fires, incredible performance demanding basically cuts fps in half in the nights, but god dam it looks so much more better
- immersive lightning 2.1, base game looks like a cartoon, this will push it into a realistic natural color look. but still with colors. Lots lightning mods kill colors entirely. Game looks really good now ( only tested in base game as i am currently playing through the game myself, 94 hours in and just 100% cleared the main game, dlc tommorow )
- Combo blood, far more brutal kill effects blood everywhere but still realistic. Far better then the base game.
- E3 animations, far better then the standard animations. Really pushes the game upwards as the walking/running animation are a bit dated at this point.
- Meadows, more grass far more grass, your game actually now has grass everywhere and more detailed, sadly no DLSS so shimmering does happen unless u blur it a bit with mipmap textures, unless u want to dsr the game.

All with all this makes the game from janky outdated feeling, and outdated overly cartoony looking towards a more modern up to date game.

It looks absolutely amazing pretty much everywhere with those mods.

Nice list. Have to say, I chose some alternate (and a "little bit" more) mods here and there but everything you said is practically right.
