Ideas For Games That Are So Obvious But Don't Exist

I'd like to see a casual massively multiplayer persistent factional area of control game done properly.
Something like ChromeHounds.
Planetside seems too hard to get into, and Eve is too much commitment.

Car combat battle royale. Roguelite game with DMC/Bayonetta style combat.

If there is a Battle Royale games.

At least a Mad máx style game with 100 different cars could be interesting.

Was already mentioned elsewhere, but a "The Mandalorian" game writes itself.

You're a mercenary that travels the galaxy doing odd jobs on different planets, you upgrade your ship and armor as you go. You gain access to different weapons and equipment, like blasters, jetpack, grapple hook, etc.

There can be a greater threat looming (Empire or other), etc.

There's a whole lot of Mandalorian lore out there to pull from.

It's Star Wars based, so the game is easily marketable. Possibility of Lego and other toys tie-in.

Makes sense for Disney because they can push Disney+ subscription.

It's so obvious that I wouldn't be surprised if the game is being developed as we speak.

Well now that Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and Battlefield lost their soul it is pretty obvious that consoles could use a new squad based tactical shooter.

Sony could really capitilize with a new SOCOM if it's done right

Open-world back to the future game made by Rockstar where you play as Marty and you skate around town and time travel to different time periods.

FromSoftware game set in the Warcraft universe where you fight Orks.

Naughty Dog game where you play as Theodore Roosevelt when he fought with the Rough Riders.

I know this is a bit off-topic because they aren't obvious, but these are my dream games.

They need a game that's kinda like Wing Commander / Descent Freespace 2 with some EVE online thrown in but on a massive scale with a meaningful off-ship experience as well. This game should ideally be a massive universe where exploration, combat, commerce and industry should marry into an MMO for the ages. Imagine buying/building/selling/stealing but mostly buying capital ships and/or smaller frigates or corvettes that can be manned by your peers and navigating these ship in real time into countless unique planets and locations to establish colonies and/or mining operations or perhaps a trading ouutpost or even a pirates' den. It could have robust FPS mechanics rivaling your halo's or cod's as an extra means of contesting these player established stations, cities, outposts, lairs besides ship on ship combat. Shame sush a game does not exist or will in the foreseeable future. If only funds could be raised to embark on such an endeavor.

Pretty sure Bounty Hunter let you play Boba Fett, and it was a great game!

An open world time travel game with several iterations of the same map.

Prehistoric
Roman
Medieval
Victorian
Modern
Future
The closest we saw to this was the Assassin's Creed game that had you going to Paris during different time periods (correct me if I'm wrong, but given that it was Paris, I think it was AC: Unity) for some very limited missions. I won't say anything more as that would be a spoiler, but to your point, seeing Paris during different time periods was really interesting. You couldn't spend much time in the other time periods beyond the basic missions, but it definitely felt authentic because the game was clearly using the same map - adjusted for different time periods.

Interstate 76 like game, anyone? Pretty please.
They already had the 70s and 80s. Next game in the series needs to be Interstate '98.
The genre is already a proven commodity. And game publishers (just like movie studios) hate taking risks on new stuff, so they're always looking for pre-existing IP.
If Activision doesn't want to make it, they should sell the franchise to somebody else so we can get a new entry. It could even be a low budget production, keeping the flat-poly art of the original, just on a much larger scale.

After spending some time with the most revolutionary game I have played in yrs(Spintires) it has to be The Oregon Trail. Plus with the American West being on fire in entertainment, I mean seriously, millions to be made.

I’ve never we understood why Sony didn’t do more with the EQ IP. I always wanted an Elder Scrolls-style EQ, an immense single player game set in that universe would be amazing.

A "smash bros" of hero shooters featuring characters from a bunch of characters from other FPS/TPS games. Escpecally since Microsoft owns like half of them nowadays anyway.

Example roster:
-Master Chief
-Doom Slayer
-Duke Nukem
-Gordon Freeman
-Captain Price
-Joanna Dark
-Banjo/Kazooie in Breegull Blaster mode
-Conker from the WW2 level
-BJ Blazkowicz
-Shadow the Hedgehog

When I was a kid I dreamed of one day playing a game where you could go anywhere in the world, enter any house, play all the video game consoles in those houses, and basically do anything you can do in the real world.

Seems obvious, don't know why no one has attempted it.

I want an Elite Dangerous/Star Citizen space combat simulation game, but with Gundam like Mecha.
I want a Macross game that takes place during Space War I, you live and walk all around macross city onboard a full sized SDF-1. Starting as a mecha pilot and working yoru way up through payouts to buy and gear up to a valk, with thousands of internal customization. You go on campaign missions to earn money...combat is like Ace Combat but with transformations and theres optional ability to fly around freely in solar system size space....infiltrating or boarding zentradi ship during non campaigns.

Of course...all macross games continue to be that lock on boring auto combat like most gundam/macross games in Japan......also even if they made this wed never see it in the west....fuck Harmony Gold

I ve thought of one for while :
I game that starts with 8 bit graphics and to the end its on unreal engine 5 level graphics

I had the similiar idea, basicly like Wreck It Ralph but not a kids game. You are sucked into world of video games and have to start from simple pong-kind games, through 80' pixel art era, through 90' creative madness, to realistic looking games similar to last Matrix demo. Full of different genres, cameos from well known games etc - just connected with a storyline and main hero.

People play that game all the time.

A current gen AAA action adventure Power Rangers game. For the 2nd phase in boss fights the enemy can grow and you can summon the Megazord, Dragonzord, etc
Even more obvious: PR musou game. It can be argued PR will never be big enough to warrant a true AAA game but a warriors game both fits the kinda budget PR games usually get while still doing something that fits the IP.
