Love gears but I don’t think this is necessary. Back compat runs them pretty good already plus they already did gears 1. 5 looks next gen already

Not entirely needed for Gears but the core idea of switching from all of the legacy games from one match to the next - and one map to the next is an amazing idea and I hope other long running multiplayer franchises adopt it.

Before the Master Chief Collection dropped I thought I would never be able to play so many of those classic Halo 2 maps ever again. The OG Xbox servers were of course turned off years prior. Now in 2022, I can play Halo 2 mp at the touch of a button with next to no wait. Pretty awesome.

I would pay good money to play the original full product Battlefield Vietnam or PC BF2 again. Maybe some Enemy Territory stuff or Day of Defeat.

I don't think Gears of War makes sense, really, because the BC versions on Game Pass have resolution and FPS boosts that basically make them remasters in and of themselves.
Waste of resources imo. Gears is readily available on gamepass. Even Fable 1 and 2 have remasters iirc.

This is just all around pointless imo.
Fable 1 has the Anniversary edition, but that's it. Fable 2 and 3 haven't really been touched.

If they're making a new Fable, a Fable Trilogy remaster could lay the groundwork for getting the brand back into the spotlight. It's been twelve years since the last release, after all.

Idk why I thought the first two had remasters. But you're right about that. Could be setting it back up for the new game to then get a big push.

Master Chief Collection seems way more like it would be for Gears, as I wouldn't call remastering a trilogy of single player games the "Master Chief Collection treatment". As a large part of that was the seamless transition between different games multiplayer modes and having it all be connected. Fable needs a remaster more, but Gears is the logical choice in terms of being a huge IP with multiplayer and single player that would be pretty awesome to have it all be interconnected like MCC is (although obviously hope it's not as much of a disaster at launch)

Either game would be great and I'd play a ton of (and I hope they both eventually get made), but my prediction would be Gears

All three of the Fable games (2,3, Anniversary) got X enhancements. They all run at 4K resolution on X consoles (One/Series). And Fable III and Anniversary get FPS Boost while retaining their 4K resolutions (Fable II did not get FPS Boost, though).

Fable III's X enhancement was a stealth addition. It was never announced. A lot of people never even knew about it. It's not even listed on Microsoft's Official Page for X Enhancements. However, it IS listed if you look at the Fable III page in the store.

Here is a video of Fable III running at 4K/60.

the only Gears games on PC are 1, 4 and 5, so it would definitely make sense just for the PC ports alone

Add me to that list; never knew Fable III got the BC enhancements. Thank you for the info!

With that said, only the first game received the Anniversary treatment. I still think a Fable collection as part of the push to the new titles is more likely than a Gears collection, given Gears hasn't ever really stopped releasing titles.

and said Anniversary version is dreadful. especially on PC where the original PC port is so massively superior it's honestly comparable to the GTA Trilogy in that they "improved" the graphics but everything else is objectively worse with tech issues and everything. of course it's not AS bad as GTA but it is definitely not an improvement either

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Considering we're probably not getting a Gears 6 for at least 2~3 more years, it does make sense to have a Gears package in the interim, release it at the end of this year or next year.

Probably being developed by a different studio, not The Coalition.

A Fucking Idiot
👏 I 👏 can't 👏 miss 👏 Gears 👏 if 👏 it 👏 never 👏 goes 👏 away 👏 .

Please just stop and let us miss the series and THEN bring it back. The cow has no more milk. It already runs amazing in BC mode.

Certainly not broken now, and remains an extremely impressive package. That’s what they’re trying to achieve.

still, it took almost the entire console generation to get there. and it still isn't perfect. there are still missing effects in Halo 1 and 2 classic
