[IGN] Dying Light 2 is a broken mess, is compared to CP 2077 PC

KyoZz

Tag, you're it.
- Crashes
- Script no working
- Dialogue not working properly
- Poor performance
- Save files corrupted
- The more you play, the more issues you will get
- Considerably worse than the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077
- It's happening on every platform tested (PS5, Xbox Series X, PC)

We ain't outta here in ten minutes, we won't need no rocket to fly through space
I had 2 crashesh n Xbox Seriss X during my playthrough? We are talking about 50 hours or so for gameplay.

I guess it varies ? Not sure.

Much like Cyberpunk. I played that game to completion at launch on PC and barely had any issues at all. Was absolutely staggered seeing the footage other people got.

There's a day one patch, but I doubt that its going to fix all of it

Welp, at least I trust Techland way more than CDPR to fix their game

Compare how well they supported DL 1 to the the state of Cyberpunk today

They played without a big day one patch, not sure how much it's gonna fix but it is something worth notice.

This is not gonna be different from cyberpunk, a lot of people had problems and a lot of people like me on pc had less bugs than your average bethesda\ubisoft game, it is always like that with open world games.

Hopefully i'm gonna be as lucky as i was with CB.

Will it get a 90 MC for a few days with general praise from journalists and "influencers" before the truth comes out or this just happens when it's CDPR?

This is why e3 and all game shows need to just die. I feel like developers are forced to show games that aren’t ready. Then they are forced to meet stupid ass deadlines to meet the date they never wanted to give in the first place.

Techland said it had added over a thousand fixes and improvements via updates over past two weeks, and that another thousand "tweaks" would be included in the day one patch due to go live on consoles "within the next few days". The PC version, meanwhile, is being kept up to date in "real-time".

To be honest, when a game is going through hoops to get released, it's never the best sign. Sometimes the project can still come out decent or more so. It's usually noticeable when there's a good amount of marketing put behind it. The less marketing, gameplay footage, etc. the more concerned I'd be about the final result.

I still preorder the few games I'm excited about. But if I had something like this preordered, I would've backed out as soon as all the woes came along.

This game has been in development for what six years? How are these games that are delayed for so long not given the final few months for polish?

The fuck is going on in this industry?
There's usually a lot of variables, but a big reason why things like this happen is because the project is becoming too expensive, or it already has become too expensive. Depending on the size of the team, days, weeks, and months can be gargantuan. So working on it longer just means more money, time, and resources being spent.

The last large project I worked on started shedding its weight pretty quickly when the studio realized how much money was being spent on it.

I don't want to get deep in the weeds here but I think we have some idiocrasy going on in the gaming industry. Developers today simply don't have the skills and know-how of the devs from 10-20 years ago. I think this only gets worse.

Then we see developers surprised at people not buying their games at launch. Idiots.

Maybe I'll buy it a year from now, after several patches and a good discount.

Techland are PC devs and PCgamer as much as they can be "trusted" which is almost rarely did not have many issues. Im pretty sure if youre on PC you're good, but I'd be careful if you plan on getting on old gen consoles or even next gen ones.

Games are also way bigger and complicated than 20 years ago, let's be honest here.

The amount of shit that can glitch in modern open world is nuts.

Studios/publishers biting off more than they can chew. Also this:

They somehow think that more resources = better final product, when in fact in creative industries it's been proven that leaner teams are more efficient.

AAA gaming is really showing its ass lately huh
Everything post start of the Pandemic.

Can only imagine how much harder it is to work from home, not just from Code perspective, but just randomly throwing ideas out and talking to colleagues, or seeing over their shoulder and commenting on stuff.

The crunch must be hard too, all these deadlines to hit due to marketing... It sucks for Developers, they aren't the ones who set the dates... but unfortunately games that have had their lifecycle through the pandemic are not going to be really up to the quality we were used to pre 2019.

Ummm cyberpunk 2077 at launch on PC was for the most part fine...
For some people, yeah. I was fortunate enough to be able to play the game all the way through. Had some issues here and there, couple of crashes, etc.

But there were some people out there that had polar opposite experiences. To be expected with PC though, especially without proper testing. There are so many different spec combos, etc.
