[IGN] Dying Light 2 is a broken mess, is compared to CP 2077 PC

fuck you wrong.
I played and finished it perfectly fine on pc. So what's wrong?
had some bugs but not THAT much.

@Gamezone Not played it on console so can't speak to that. I know it was bad on last gen.

Anyway - Dying Light was pretty bad... just as a game. Not sure what's with all the hype about sequel
Listen I'm not want to be that guy, but I looked tons of YouTubers channels and I really don't know how you can deny it.

Deus Ex/Dark Souls/Prey style maps > huge maps. We need to put a stop to Fary Cry shit type of maps.
I mean, if reviews are anything to go buy (or just by watching some gameplay), the game not being fun is kinda his last problem.

Almost everyone says that parkour and combat are a hella lot of fun, the problems seems to be story\writing and lack of polish.

Interestingly:

They are much much more bullish on it then IGN. Don't know what to believe. There are a lot of conflicting opinions.

This is why I just wait a year or two to play most games now.

After a couple years

- Actual useful user reviews exist after the new car smell has worn off
- All DLC included
- Can be found under $20
- All bugs patched either by dev or community (let's face it, it's mostly community)
- Performance fixes already implemented

So I save a bunch of money and still play the game. In the meantime there are a few thousand other games I haven't played in existence. Dying Light 2 looks like a perfect game to buy in about three years for $7 assuming I remember it existed.

Most of these takes are overblown. I'll experience it first hand on release date. Plus Steam has a 2 hour trail window.

Techland said it had added over a thousand fixes and improvements via updates over past two weeks, and that another thousand "tweaks" would be included in the day one patch due to go live on consoles "within the next few days". The PC version, meanwhile, is being kept up to date in "real-time".

They might as well delay the game a few months to bug-fix and polish it some more.

I know, but they were probably forced to release by publisher\share holders, usually in those cases the devs takes all the blame when it's only partially true (not sure if this is the case, just speculating)

Also the game was in development hell so, yeah...

All this just reminds me why I was and am completely baffled by the insane pre-release hype for Dying Light 2. I mean I played the original at launch and it was....fine, I guess? A decent tech demo for the still new at the time PS4 and Xbox One consoles and a glimpse at the type of open world games that would come to dominate those systems, but really nothing more than that and yet people act like the sequel was going to be the next GTA.

It's just fans of the first one being excited. Whats wrong with that? They waited a long time for a sequel.

I loved the first game and I'm loving the second one.

Feels really nice to be a year or so behind on all AAA titles, let someone else beta test the game for you, and buy it half off in 8-12 months. It is such a nice feeling. We all see buggier and buggier releases, worse, and worse MMO launches, stop buying into it.

No mans Sky was the drop for me, thankfully it has been redeemed, but, I haven't bought a single big game on release since then, I just don't see the point. After just a few months, you will have tons of games to catch up on, and they will be in working order, or you'll know about it.

With games costing 60-70 EU now, there is just no excuse that they expect customers to accept buggy releases.

I am hoping though, that the article is wrong, and the game is in good shape, because DL1 was fun.

The game is nowhere near CP level of broken. In fact most reviewers are saying it has some small bugs here and there but it's solid and playable. IGN is the only one spreading these so called game breaking bugs that no one else seems to get.

If this is true, just continues to prove why I'm a pessimist when it comes to the gaming industry today.

Also, Liljagare Liljagare , they expect customers to accept buggy release because they've been doing so for about the last 10 years. It just gets worst as the years go by because the Publishers have no reason to give a fuck since consumers continue to pre-order and buy on release. All the while apologizing for these Developers on why the game is dog shit on day one. We live in sad times.

This is as false as it can get. I've been playing the PC version for over 3 hours and I haven't encountered any crash, dialogue or script issues. It's rock solid and runs with 60fps at 1440p/Ultra settings/Ray Tracing with DLSS Quality on an RTX3080. Without Ray Tracing, you can easily get over 60fps with DLSS Quality in 4K. It's obvious that IGN has not tested the latest version (it's been available to all PC reviewers since yesterday) which will be available to everyone this Friday.

I'm so fucking pissed about this honestly. Fuck these guys.

After CP77s disaster launch you would think they would get shit in order but nope... take our money and just dump it in whatever state it's in. It's a fucking joke.
If you follow this thread and other reviewers you will see IGN is the only one encountering these weird issues.

What’s said so far doesn’t sound concerning especially since it’s a common practice for developers to go gold when they are close enough to being happy so they can release the day 1 patch. The types of bugs described aren’t concerning what’s concerning is the frequency and it would be more concerning after the day one patch. I played ratchet and clank Ps5 recently, experienced crashes, game breaking bugs, a bug where you can get stock in a pocket dimension forever, a bunch of visual hiccups and cutscene audio issues. But the thing is not everybody runs into those issues because they don’t play the same way I do. Technical hiccups, crashes and cutscene hiccups are allowed as long as it’s rare. Every game I’ve played for many hours has Probbaly crashes on me at least once even on consoles.

Anyways I’d wait for launch.

Pretty much assumed this would be the case. If I'm lucky it'll be $10 by Black Friday and fixed by then.

- Crashes
- Script no working
- Dialogue not working properly
- Poor performance
- Save files corrupted
- The more you play, the more issues you will get
- Considerably worse than the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077
- It's happening on every platform tested (PS5, Xbox Series X, PC)

I played the game for review, so let's see...

Crashes?
I had one crash in over 30 hours of play time on PC. It happened right as a cutscene was going to start. The autosave is so frequent that I lost mere seconds before I was right back to where I was when the crash happened.

Scripting broken?
I literally never encountered this issue.

Dialogue not working properly?
I had just one instance where two different NPCs were talking to me at the same time over the radio. It happened only once. I did not have any issue where the dialogue stopped at any point.

Poor performance?
Yes, but not in all instances (at least on PC).

As I said in my review:
One final issue that I ran into time and time again involved massive framerate drops. Without giving too much away, I will say that there are buildings and structures that you can conquer. These either involve solving a series of puzzles or just defeating the main baddy in the area. After you complete these tasks, you can then "claim" these areas and they are thus marked as completed. Every. Single. Time. that I went to complete these areas, which usually just had me turning a valve, my framerate would just tank when looking at the object that I had to interact with. It happened without fail. My framerate would be return to normal if I looked even a couple of feet off away from the object.

Save corrupted?
Didn't have that here either.

The more you play the more issues you get?
Again, not something I encountered at all.

Considerably worse than the PC version of Cyberpunk?
Not even close.

I can't speak for the Xbox or PlayStation versions. So maybe the consoles have a lot of added issues. I am not trying to dismiss the points this reviewer brought up. I'm just saying that the issues are not universal. I do take issue with them saying that they're worse than PC Cyberpunk though. That's just... wrong.

I will add the following note: We got our review keys on January 20th. There was at least one major update released, but it came on the 31st, long after we all probably finished the game and were preparing our reviews. This update included (without getting into specifics) fixes for crashes and other issues along with other various stability and performance improvements.

This means that what most people are putting out there in their reviews is how the game was ahead of this patch. There is, apparently, another patch apparently coming on release day (assuming what we received wasn't that patch already). I'd still argue that their assessments are fair because that is what they played. But I also feel as though the reviews should mention the patch that came out and note that their impressions are based on the pre-patched state and they are not sure if the patch addressed their issues or not due to a lack of time to test.

I never said you were.

Even my wording doesn't indicate that I was responding as if you wrote that, only responding to the summary points. Edit: I even used wording like "this reviewer" and "their assessments."

That doesn't really sound like an excuse, it sounds like a developer telling people to wait for the day one patch to experience it properly. This is a sentiment stated by developers many times in the past.
Agreed 100%, I'm with them on this.
I just started with this sentence to avoid aggro (/preventive measures :p )

Maybe it will be like cyberpunk for me bc I somehow had no major issues with it on PC
ya I finished Cyberpunk during its first 2 weeks on Steam with only minor issues (some of them hilarious) and one time had to restart from an earlier save due to a mission glitch, but no crashing.

At least anecdotally I'm not sure what IGN is referring to here. I have 170 hours in Cyberpunk and have had a quest bug out on me...twice.., one or two crashes at most. And of course quite a few glitches, but could play for hours without. I loved the general experience (obviously). So I guess I'll have a good time in DL2 as well then.

Usually gaf cares about acg and skill up reviews and they both had a fairly polished experience on pc.

Seems like the ign guy need to cancel some virus or furry porns from his pc before testing games.
