Treyarch supposedly making a standalone, free-to-play CoD Zombies game for 2023

Then they might as well make the yearly releases free outright then if they are setting this precedent? No one in their right mind is going to shell out 60dolleu just to play the campaign. At least they should start giving the first season pass included with that premium purchase from the outset (which is already the bare minimum you're getting but I'm just thinking out loud here lol).

The zombies mode was possibly the best part of Cold War in my humble opinion. Fun in coop with friends as well. Looking forward to this.
I thought the launch map was great, the second map I thought was awful and dropped off the game after that.

Zombies on black ops 4 I enjoyed more on the whole though.

And vanguard zombies is pretty awful sadly.

COD4dead could be pretty big.

If true, then we could really be seeing the beginning of the end of yearly cod games

Yeah Firebase Z (the 2nd map) was the weakest and the least replayable of the 4, but everything after that was much, much better. That being said it wasn't terrible, and I think on the whole it was one of the most enjoyable zombies entries to co-op because the 3 modes actually offered a nicely differentiated experience. I

Vanguard though... what an unmitigated shit-show and an insult to the CoD Zombies fanbase. The honest truth is I think them not bothering at all would have been preferable because it looked so half-assed in comparison. There was less content in there than in many CWZ mid-season updates!

First and second..? What do you mean, there was like a ton of modes and maps..

Dead Ops Arcade (+ several modes)
Die Maschine
Firebase Z
Forsaken
Mauer Der Toten
Plus additional modes I don't remember the name of at the moment, like the Playstation one

Outbreak maps
Alpine
Duga
Golova
Ruka
Sanatorium
Zoo
Collateral
Armada
Plus additional variations, objectives and stories within.

These, especially Outbreak's "open world"-like experience gave me some of the nicest coop experiences I've had in a long time.

There is lot of good content in the mode, so no wonder why many zombies fans have been asking for a standalone from Treyarch to give them more room to flesh it out even more.

As for Vanguard, yeah, let's not speak about that sad story.. fuck me it was bad..

Honestly, Activision releasing a lower budget COD title one year, then a full release the next would be better for everyone. Keeps the shareholders/bosses happy, the fans get more polished games(hopefully, lol) and the devs get time to, you know, DEVELOP the game.

If this is basically the warzone version of cod zombies, then it could be great, at least your paid content isn't stuck to cold war then.

Didn’t they just say they’re skipping 2023? Lol wtf
No one has said any such thing.

All Jason said was that there would be no 'premium' COD in 2023 but that a F2P title would be released - in addition to Warzone 2 and MWII having continued support. On that basis the only options are a slimmed down standard MP experience or zombies.

Zombies jumped the shark a long time ago. I used to game with some friends and we put so much time into Black Ops 1 zombies. I mean more Saturdays than I care to admit where we played 10 or 12 hours straight. Black Ops 2 zombies wasn't as fun for us, but we still put some decent time into those maps.

Black Ops 3 was kind of a return to for us, especially once Zombies Chronicles released. After that I fell off Zombies. Played a little in cold War but really Black Ops 3 gives me all the Zombies I need.

We never did Easter eggs. Just played for high rounds. Shit got too complicated and we got old.

So, does this count as one of the 3 games owed to Sony in the marketing deal? That would be great for Xbox if so since that would complete their obligation to Sony by the end of next year.

Maybe, If they are including warzone II in the deal, like the speculation suggested, I see no reason why this wouldn't count as well. If it doesn't then you'd have MS and SONY marketing 2 FTP entries in the same franchise ( WZII and this) from MS at the same time, messy. My head hurts just thinking about it.

this was something me and my friends wanted back in ....2010? COD Zombies went well beyond what made me and friends enjoy it.
