STOP begging for Easy Mode in Elden Ring!

It should be there, period. It doesn’t mean those of you that feel so superior beating a “hard game” would get screwed. No, your game wouldn’t change at all. You could still feel superior over other gamers without those that are blocked from enjoying the game now screwing things up for you. This isn’t about changing your experience, it’s about making it more accessible - without changing the main game for those that enjoy it - to those that don’t have the time/patience/ability/etc, which is better for everyone.

Therefore, get over yourself. Enough of the “elite gamers” thinking their opinions matter more than those that would play this, and other games but for the unnecessary difficulty. Again, YOUR game would stay the same…no harm done to the core experience, or those that demand such a challenge. However, adding an easy mode…or whatever you’d call it, changes NOTHING for you, but allows for others to experience it as well.

An easy win-win.

I'll just come off as mean and say it:

If you don't like the game as is and refuse to play it as is, you don't get to play the game. Respect your own time by not wasting it playing something you can't or won't enjoy. Therefore, get over YOURself. YOUR life will go on not being able to play this videogame, just as mine goes on not playing the COD's, BF's, and TLOU's the rest of the gaming world seems to enjoy. Nobody's making you play Elden Ring.

EDIT: And before you windmill mother fuckers think that I am asking for an easy mode, I am not.

This one is going in the insult book.

I agree that an easy mode is a terrible idea, but probably for different reasons than you do. If you added an easy mode such that you do not need to exploit fuckery to win, then it would require them to actually make the encounters balanced and the AI good. An easy mode would reveal that this game is just unbalanced enemies with shit AI that is exploitable if you experiment or google enough.

Absolutely. What has become obvious with all these (asinine) "hints and tips" about the "built in easy mode" is that the game as is, really all FS games, are balanced for absolute shit and rely on a handful of tricks in FS's repertoire to induce "challenge" into the game. One of the more critical reviews of ER pointed out (correctly in my opinion) that FS haven't actually evolved any of their game design. This is the exact same game they have been making for sometime now, except now in an open-world environment. An open-world by the way, that further exposes how limited their design set is.

. . .the nerfed RADAHN fight is a good example of this artificial challenge (something I only found out after fighting him on a third character and marveling at my luck): tune down his damage (he still can one-shot you) and his hitboxes (so that he's not dead angling you on his fast My Lil' Pony) and you've got a standard DS1 or 2 boss fight with an interesting gimmick that is now painfully easy for folks who learned through struggling on the pre-nerf version and is an enjoyable encounter for those that got to him after the nerf.

What!? I beat him before the patch and to me Radahn wa one of my favourite fights in the game. The only boss fights I hated in Elden Ring was duo boss fights.

I beat him before the patch too. Can't believe they nerfed Radahn and leave Malenia stupid life steal intact

In fact, is pretty confusing they nerf Radahn when you can pretty much summon every fighter in the game to help you beat him.

Glad I beat him before the patch. Was by far the best of the boss fight in the game.

You easily out pace her healing with bleed status and she has vey low pois compare to other bosses, you can easily sun her with couple of R2 attacks and guard counter.

You know the fight that was really annoyed to me? Those two Valiant Gargoyle fights, the spam that poison attack barely let try to attack one of them, it was super tedious and annoying.

Nothing should be wrong with putting in an easy mode in any game, by all means lock specific items behind certain difficulty etc to reward and show the ppl that did things the harder way. I suck at souls games or at least i never had patience for them but i've already clocked over 100 hrs in Elden Ring and it's not even hard... it's just about persevering and learning.

I would wager you're part of the minority on that one. I actually think the nerf went a bit too far in the other direction, but it was one that needed to happen in some form (less than half of players on PC and barely a third on Playstation managing to get by him).

You could have an NPC that is waiting for you in tutorial tunnel, an odd creature like Sweet Shaliquor from DS2 that doesn't quite fit and you know something is up. They mention The Lands Between are an intense and unforgiving land. . .that can be tamed, for a price. They can make it that you will still become Elden Lord. . .of a sort and that this rite is a one-way ticket.

. . .on the backend you make it so that no boss achievements are possible, you tweak or outright remove some items from the game and do the same with some of the bosses (the tweaking not removing) and other changes that aren't braindead like "Hurr Durr EZ Mode!" like some folks think players are requesting. Gives others a chance at a FS experience and whets appetites for the full game experience if they are enjoying this "kinder, gentler Lands Between."

I tried Elden Ring for a few hours, like the universe. Eventually put down the control and will never pick it up again.

I deal with enough challenges and actual real-life hustle to be a loser who's proud of wasting beating a boss after 30 redundant time. I want value, fin and most importantly a well -designed-, -balanced- and -curved- game. I think Dark Souls is a success by chance not by design, because the game design was liked not because it's great but because enough people bothered in a time when difficulty had become rare/retro...but the truth it's that it's probably a bad design or a mistake that became a formula, and this formula is passing in trend.
What defines a good designed game? DS is not even hard, just obtuse. ER is objectively harder with its badly designed boss fights.

The problem is Sometimes she heal even missing a hit
I used fully upgrade Morgott's Cursed Sword and she would bleed more often so it didn't matter how much she healed and if I was able to consistently hit her with that weapon she get stunned.

Her healing was least difficult part, the most difficult part was her Waterfowl Dance, that attack can fuck you up bad if you dont know how deal with it.

IMO the best part of 'souls' games are people struggle with differents bosses because everyone have a different playerstyle.

My playerstyle problem get me struggle with her, but anw. I already beat her today, so no big deal. Just a shame that need to be cheese, don't feel rewarded after all. Giving life steal to a boss is not a good fit for a souls game. Not at all.

I avoid the bloodlost build because everyone is using in this game.

People have to right to complain if they believe its something that could be better, even if the complaints are ridiculous.
In the end it is From’s game and their decision on what product they want to make and sell. Since it is selling like hotcakes they probably have no intention to listen to aforementioned complaints.

Simps always asking for handouts and participation trophies lol

Though an different modes are welcome, the core of those series is with how hard it is. If an easy mode ends up happening btw I'm not against it as how someone else plays is irrelevant to me, but if that mode comes it will be based on the publisher vs From Soft themselves. I think they love the trial and error, git good and learn concept, so an easy mode works against that if you don't learn the game's mechanics, but can sell a shit ton more units as a publisher would want that as oppose to just a development team.

Different modes would be great but the game is hardly difficult. I suck at these games and about to start the last boss. The summons and leveling areas are the easy mode. Just have to grind some levels. There is so many OP builds if you watch videos. If all from soft games had these features I probably try them.

True, but this new generation of HuffPost gamers need everything handed out to them, nothing hard, no challenge and "how dare I have to actually get good and play the game to level up and get to different areas" lol

Such games are not for everyone. It just makes sense that if a game is too hard and the gamer is too soft, play some easy shit and move on with life.

Developers have no ode to make every game easier then the last cause some's crying over it. Who out here is playing such games to avoid challenge? Nothing really even exist in those games where I think they'd even be enjoyable without it as the stories 99% of the time suck and I love the Souls game, but...dear god, I'm just not there to hear those awful stories lol Its also not a game like Elder Scrolls were a part of it is based on a narrative, the NPCs and how they react to what you do or something. Souls is a very combat heavy game where THAT is the main focus of the game, to put that on easy......its not saying its a bad game, but its a pretty boring one without that challenge as that feeling of "ohhh thats how you beat this boss" or "finally I beat that boss" or "after 1043 tries...I beat that boss" , with none of that, its an average game at best without those moments.

I think a smart design choice in Elden Ring is the addition of the Stakes of Marika - It cuts out the frustration of having to fight your way back to a boss room after you've cleared a tough section of a level. I've just gone back to Dark Souls and I have to say, it can be frustrating having to make up that progress again when losing to a boss. Smart changes such as these don't water down the experience by making the game "easy" but serve to better enable players to get back into the fight as soon as possible. It really helps the game feel more "fair" whilst also helping you become more accustomed to bosses attacks and telegraphs.

This is so true. I mean they are already extremely generous with Bonfires and the stakes further offset frustrating back-tracking. Then there's the physick mix that prevents rune loss for what, 3 minutes?

Compared to Souls' ER is already in easy mode.

Put it this way, it's the only Souls game I've ever actually completed and that's in large parts down to Ash summons and Marika stakes. I felt compelled to finish it.

People pretending this isn't an easier experience next to say, Sekiro or Bloodborne are kidding themselves.

Yeah i definitely dont think that difficulty is an accessibility feature. If anything that seems like it would be more insulting to handi capped people who want to play the game. The stuff microsoft is doing with their customizable handicap controller is something thats making great strides with inclusivety and accessibility, so is the use of asl and interpreters, and the last of us pt 2’s many color blind modes. Fromsoft saying “ok here is babby mode” is not

By reading most of the posts here, you notice that Elden Ring’s main issue is not the game itself, or the standard enemies, but the bosses, which are, IMO, worst than any Souls game.

If bosses were better designed, ER would’ve been easier than some AAA blockbuster games.

This thread is why video games are still looked at as childish by the adult world. Gatekeeping neckbeards are screaming about "muh difficulty" and clutching their fedoras in terror, as if an easy mode buried in the options somehow shrinks their e-penis, instead of promoting the idea that more difficulty options in games open up the audience to the mainstream and allow for more sales, which could help development and continue to push the genre forward. The game may have sold 12 million, but it was a 97 on metacritic, similarly rated games have sold 20 or 30 million copies. Leaving out a story mode is leaving money on the table.

The only way I can ever see this happening is if they put a "skip boss after you've died 20 times to it" option, they'll never put a difficulty setting in it as the game just doesnt require it

Tons of aspect that are hard to reviews by a simple rating matrix, but yes I'm persuaded Souls game where just hard and successful not by design but by mistake (ie. bad game design), saved by a good experience and art direction. So it's no wonder that ER is not so much better on this front.

People have the right to request stuff like Easy Mode.

Devs equally have the right to ignore such requests.

The problem is that people go beyond just '' I'd like an easy mode '' and they just act like garbage.
It's the same for example with people who don't like sexualized content, they already have almost every game in existence not doing that.
But then when a game has it they start going on about how it's a travesty and use really derogatory and inflammatory language to describe it while at the same time saying that they '' just want options '' ( same people also tend to attack you if you ask for options in the other direction ).
Going on big rants essentially insulting people who enjoy the content and referring to it in a very loaded negative way is very different than '' just asking for options ''.

It's not so much about just asking for something it's that most people are '' asking '', they're doing it in a way that comes across as extremely antagonistic and just straight up shitty.
That's the impression I get at least when I read people who want an easy mode it usually comes with a lot of stuff essentially implying that everyone who disagrees is an elitist no-lifer and that the devs have done something wrong.

I noticed some inputs "dropped" too. But they are rare.

Probably my biggest criticism is the built in dodge delay, it screwed me over so much and made it very frustrating to play sometimes and it has been proven to exist there's a ton of videos demonstrating it.
I haven't tried it yet but there's supposed to be some solutions to it, but it just shouldn't be there in a game like this imo.
It just feels horrible when you push the dodge button and then get hit because your character doesn't dodge immediately but has a delay before it happens.

I was thinking the same thing.

You really don't have time to do this against dual bosses or late game aggro bosses.

Ash summons shouldn't be in the game.
Nah ash summons are fine. You can choose to use them or not there's nothing wrong with them.

Frankly I don't see an issue with adding am easy mode, it's not difficult and the normal mode would still be there for those that want it. I find people crying about others wanting an easy mode to be rather selfish when it wouldn't change their experience

“Why ask for an easier mode, it’s so easy if you watch videos from people who have completed the game 4 times and know where to find every OP item from the start and also have played every Souls game a hundred times and can beat them with Ring Fit controls” 🤷‍♂️

If you don’t enjoy finding items or growing a character in this game just admit you don’t like the game. That is literally the gameplay loop.

Play something else.

“I don’t want to read to find out the stores”
“I don’t want to explore and poke around and experiment with skills and magic”
“I don’t want to remember who I’ve talked to and where to go”

What you’re talking about has nothing to do with what I said.

The user I quoted was basically saying that someone new to this series is supposed to venture into high-level areas just in the chance that there’s some good equip that will make them OP, while such a player may have trouble, you know, just grasping the basics of Souls gameplay and figuring out how character and weapon building even works. Those “get OP quick!” videos would have you just barge into Raya Lucaria or Caelid without any further ado, where anything could one-shot you, because “it’s easy mode, fam!”.
Real life don’t work like that. In real life, people will spend a few hours getting kicked in the nuts throughout Limgrave, then get frustrated and venture into Caelid where - surprise, surprise! - they’ll get kicked in the nuts with a vengeance and ultimately (shocking, I know) retrace their steps to some place where they can at least kill something.

Growing a character in Souls is hard work. You may have forgotten this after 10+ years of playing this stuff. Stumbling upon something good doesn’t mean you’ll know that it‘s good. Speccing a character correctly isn’t intuitive, and the chance to respec comes after quite a bit, and it’s not exactly served to you on a silver platter.

I explored a fair bit on my own. I ventured into Caelid way earlier than I should. I even went down that well, and came out on the other side, with shit stats. But I still had to drop my run and start anew at one point, because I was doing a lot of things wrong. Yet some people are all “hurr durr what’s the problem bro, just watch a video!”. Yeah, no thanks. If the game is so amazing to discover on your own, I’m not watching a video and spoiling me everything just because apparently getting OP is so easy and intuitive!

Just use a summon that applies rot after a few hits.

Then watch the bosses slowly die while you try to stay away from them.

Finished it today thanks to easy mode aka summons and over leveling. Only souls game I finished or remotely enjoyed. Now I'm saving up stuff for new game plus so I can try other builds for fun. Figure farm a few million to get stash of stones and other items. Really want to try sleep, rot and a magic build. Only did holy reaper and blasphemous blade so lots to try out.

On one hand, as a new player to the genre (if that's what it is) I think that the challenge is part of the design. Part of the point. And it is surmountable by grinding levels and finding better gear. I beat the game, after all, and I am a certifiable scrub when it comes to difficult games.

On the other hand, I'd like to see an easy mode just so those players who are way too emotionally invested in how good they are at a video game implodes and finds a proper motivation in life - for their own sake.

I don't like the idea of a developer having to change the foundation of their game to cater to a select audience by incorporating a easy mode. Typically my wife will play on easy in single player story driven games to simply get through the story and be done with it.

Elden Ring and even previous Souls games aren't really "story" driven experiences for the most part, they're challenge/overcome experiences so adding an easy mode eliminates the core of what makes these games special and engaging.

Now you can argue that certain bosses and enemies need to be adjusted or whatever but that can be done within the current framework, not a completely new difficulty. Also goes without saying that not every game needs to be for every person, if Elden Ring is not for you then simply move on.

Put mimic +10 and u ll have ur easy mode, even with the nerf i killed every end game boss with my mimic, put some mitigation talisman and the agrro talisman, summon mimic, remove the agrro talisman and let he tank all fight while u burn the boss, killed Placidusax in 4 attempts.

Early game ? Just upgrade Wolfs and u ll be fine.
