Love Wipeout and the more it gets it name out there at this point the better. I'm hoping sunny is giving it first class treatment in the new one I think they are doing?
Bought every Wipeout game day one since the first. Something about the game and style, music, art. Just everything connects with me really well, sorry so high atm

Will be interesting what this may do for the pc version

Wipeout defined that generation for me. I loved a lot of Playstation 1 games... but that series... especially Wipeout XL ... I didn't put more hours into anything else. When you got good.. you felt like you accomplished something. The music was incredible. I love these games.

Probably a dumb question, but where does the source code come from and who owns it nowdays ? As Psygnosis no longer exist, I guess it comes from a repo somewhere at Sony ?

(illusion 64 url is KO for me)

Interesting it has the windows port and the PSX one. The Windows version was exclusive to ATI Rage cards with used the CIF API, since DirectX did not yet include Direct3D as standard.
A DOS version also exists but is way inferior to the PC/PSX version.
Hopefully now we get a proper DirectX or Vulkan game out of this.

Interested to see if this turns into something like the Mario 64 ports. Legally it's a lot dodgier than that because it's stolen code, but in practical terms it might actually be friendlier than anything dealing with Nintendo.

The ATI Rage version is really awful. It basically has the same fixed point geometry issues as the Playstation version, but in HD, which makes it much worse and noticeable.

It's just a mess of wobbling polygons. But you can play it perfectly fine on modern computers using GLRage.

I don't see why the world needs a better version of Wipeout, to be honest, given all of his ships/tracks are already included in later and much better games. Wipeout 3: Special Edition is probably the best game in the series (imo the best futuristic racing game of all time) and features three tracks from of original game + five tracks from 2097 + all the Wip3out tracks.

Prehistoric source code white knight. Internet always finds a way to surprise you :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Wipeout is the reason I bought a PlayStation, I remember being absolutely floored by the graphics and soundtrack back then.

While I preferred F-Zero X for the multiplayer and handling model the series still has a special place in my heart.
