The Last of Us 2 Leak Suggests Multiplayer Will Include Battle Royale Mode

We will verify that when it will be announce.

I suspect Sony will try to make TLOU Online a $60/$70 game, just like GT7.
It will probably be F2P and release for PC too. That's their best chance to make a really successful multiplayer game.

If ND took all this time with the game is because they have something a lot more ambitious in mind.

Is it really "The Last of Us 2" at this point? Surely it will be completely separate from that game this long after.

Crazy, if all this stuff was just scrapped. I mean they obviously had a ot of this built and its been, what, 2 years from launch?

While i disliked the story os TLOU2 the first game multiplayer was very very good and fun (until del ruin it with). Hopefully they strike the balance and the limit the microtransactions. looking foward to what is coming

Yeah ithey probably rebooted the entire thing. It went from a simple multiplayer mode to something way bigger in scale.
This needs to be multiplatform between PS4, PS5 and PC day one. (hopefully no crossplay with PC or at least allow us to choose)

I seriously think this could be a huge hit for Sony if they play their cards right. Just...don't sell this as a full game while monetizing it as a F2P. Somehow i'm scared they could try that.
The Last of Us BR would be fucking sick. But judging Naughty Dog trash support for their MP modes, I'm very skeptical.
Really? Uncharted 2 and TLOU multiplayer were amazing if i remember it right. I was hooked in both of them and had no complains. Didn't care much for Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4 multiplayer but it was a "me" problem tbh...

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Last of us 2 didn’t really have an open world, it’s set linear it’s principles are action first but Seattle comes across as open world battle royale, it should of had mp at launch that’s what you’re supposed to do.

The most important part of "DOING IT RIGHT" would be to put it out as F2P or at 'worst' free for all PS+ subscribers.
Nah. If it’s fun people will pay. And Sony wants PS Plus subs. Can’t be free to play.

Making it a PS Plus game is fine tho. Worked well for Rocket League, etc.

I vastly prefer the Tarkov x The Division rumor that sadly came out on April 1st. Just give me an open world and let me roam with my friends... looting, fighting zombies and other players.

Hard disagree.

The most important part of "doing it right" is making a fun game people want to play for months or years on end.

The payment model is far less vital.

Okay......I thought the "make it fun" went without saying. But the payment model is VERY vital. This is where Sony needs to put up or shut up when it comes to their subscription model. kyliethicc kyliethicc is right that it can't be F2P though. So making it a PS+ drop is a must. It'll tell me all I need to know about their plans for PS Spartacus.

Makes perfect sense. Not a huge TLOU fan but I could see this being huge. Should play like a polished PUBG. That’s all I want really

They probably won’t drop it on Plus day 1 because they will want day 1 sales to recoup dev costs. (It’s like a 100 million game.)

Ghost of Tsushima Legends just went to Plus recently. Could be indicative, timing wise.

Easier to drop Destruction Allstars on it day 1 since that was a budget game.

Coop, Pve, missions, story and raids please.
Plus classic pvp modes and battle royal lol
There’s leaks / info showing some kind of co-op “Expedition“ mode.

And mentions of TDM and a battle royale mode too in the TLOU2 code.

Some kind of story content could be attached the PvE co-op thing.

The really cool shit would be PvPvE. 2 teams and infected.

I get the feeling that they've seen the downward trend of BR excitement in the last 2 years and have completely reworked this to become something else. Or scrapped it entirely.

This is where Sony needs to get their heads out of their butts. They'll recoup dev costs if they can have 50+ million people on PS+ Extra and Premium subs. The money will be there. But you also put it on PS+ day one to increase the player base numbers for this multiplayer game.

If Sony doesn't, it'll show me that they are lost and don't understand the full gaming industry anymore.

They are probably gonna package tlou 1 remake, tlou 2 enhanced and factions for 70 usd ( yes please). Factions will also be free to play maybe for the second tier and above psplus.

I thought uncharted 4 multiplayer was great too. Is it totally dead now? Esp after Naughty Dog just split the playerbase further with the U4 remaster which doesn't include multi?

Better not fucking force cross play with PC like a lot of devs have do e recently. It doesn't even need to be forced to create an unfair situation. Simply having cross play set as the default setting is enough to permanently skew a game towards being cross-play vs PC. Look at BF 2042 and Halo Infinite. Both cross play situations were "optional" but not really. Try to play against only console as a console player and see if you can find matches ...

It's no wonder multiplayer games are all failing. Developers don't even care if their games are fair anymore.

Yeah if they put this out at a premium price point only it will be a mistake.

I hate battle Royale so much. I tried it on halo infinite. Hate it. I'll never get those cosmetics unlocked that require me to play that mode

I think it should be cut price.

Even if it comes bundled with TLOU remake, I still don't think it should be £70, and I don't think it would go down well with gamers.
Naughty Dog have said it’s stand alone.

I’ll guess this is what happens.

TLOU Online $20 PS4 PS5. Stand alone, like Ghost of Tsushima Legends, Red Dead Online, etc.
TLOU (remake) $70 PS5. Includes TLOU Online.
TLOU2 Director‘s Cut $60 PS4 $70 PS5. Includes TLOU Online. Upgrade path from TLOU2.

I didn't play much of the first one, but I hear a lot of ppl liked it.

I'm interested in how ND will separate their BR mode from other BR modes.

$20 as a starting price would be OK before adding it to Plus upper tiers later. I'm guessing no PC version so it's important they pull in lots of players early on. As is often the case in transition periods, not that many games are being bought for the older console.

It might get a PC port, idk.

The most proffitable F2P games are free

Red Dead / GTA Online can get away with it 'cause Rockstar. It sells easily.

But Sony would be dumb to make us pay for TLOU Online.

Put microtransactions and make the game as acessible as possible.

GOT Legends is PVE, so it makes sense, you buy it if you want to play co op with friends and etc., doesnt need to be populated

I think the production values are going to be on a different level to Fortnite and Rocket League etc, hence me highlighting my willingness to pay a small fee.

lol, brain fart

I meant online games in general are more successful when f2p
GTA Online
Call of Duty (not Warzone)
Minecraft
Destiny 2 (began fully paid, still is partially)
Rocket League (was paid for years)
PUBG (was paid for years)
FIFA (especially FUT)
NBA2K
Madden
MLB The Show
F1
Final Fantasy 14 Online
GT Sport / GT7
Rainbow Six Siege
Red Dead Online
Battlefield
Fall Guys
etc

It can be free and require PS Plus

Rocket League, for example

Fortnite also required Plus despite being free, but dont know if they changed it
Nope. None of those free to play games require PS Plus.

Rocket League, Fortnite, Warzone, Apex, PUBG, Genshin, etc.

Only one is Destiny 2, which isn’t truly free to play since the expansions are paid.

It's really weird that Sony is developing a multiplayer game like this without making any info public, seems like a big risk for this sort of game to not get some early feedback from the general public.
