That's nice, i couldn't get far in death stranding, so i doubt I'll get the next one. The story took itself way to seriously, and it had some really frustrating mechanics. I would throw BB off a cliff if i could.

It was nice knowing you Norman.

Kojima games have always been systems, build within systems, build within systems. We're going to spaaace!

Sorry if it turns out it doesn't pan out, lol :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Very possible, this is was Yoji Shinkawa had on his desk…

The next mission, colonize and terraform mars. They know the extinction entity will always be a thing on earth so mankind is looking to distance itself from it and in the process Sam will be saving Amelie from her prison on the beach.

another thing i find funny is people saying they hare the ubisoft style open world games and praise BoTW and Elden Ring non-stop but Death Stranding’s open world is even more unique than both of those games. Theres not a ton of map markers or tropes like towers and stuff. It is the most one of a kind open world you can get where terrain and preparation is part of the challenge. Traveling the open world feels like a huge gameplay mechanic.

Thats something that we need more of.

Yeah for a while it was like a hiking simulator with horror elements. I think they should lean on and expand those mechanics more in the sequel.

I would like to see a physics system implemented in the movements of the player character.

I'm surprised, TBH. Felt like they wrapped it up nicely at the end of the first one (haven't played DC).

I wonder where they will take the story...

Well, I haven’t finished Death Stranding because I fell off. Downloading it atm to continue on the Directors Cut edition on PS5.

See my post above, Kojima has been working on an unannounced horror game since 2019.

Or he had started working on a horror project back in 2019 and canned it. I wouldn't use a 3-year-old tweet as hard proof that he's been making a horror game all this time when there has been little evidence to support that.

didnt even make it two hours into death stranding. straight up walking simulator in the beginning
That first few hours are the most brutal but thats the tutorial area. Just rush through it. You dont need to spend more than 2 hours there.

The game opens up when you get to the open world where you can ride bikes, cars and trucks. You will be building an entire road network. You also get mech suits that let you carry more stuff without stumbling or suits that let you run really fast. end game is literally about you flying around the map using ziplines.

I was kind of joking about Lou being a teenager in part 2 but I could see how it would work. A grown up Bridge Baby with it’s powers to detect and see BT’s would make for an interesting story. They could have Sam act as Deadman or like Otacon.

Downloaded Death Stranding again and played for an hour and immidiately remembered what made me fall off;

There’s just to many systems and stuff going on. I don’t know what to keep with me at all times, what to deposit in storage, what to deliver and there are icons everywhere pointing to god knows what. Add tons and tons of text all over the screen and it just leaves me overwhelmed with information. It’s exhausting. The main story seems interesting but there’s just too much text and icons on the screen that I don’t know wether to care about or not.

Edit: I like the tension around BTs and the overall feel of slowly progressing but the menu systems and overall information overload of the game simply doesn’t gel with me.

Currently playing the first one (12 Hrs in). It's beautiful, relaxing, stress inducing at time and completely bonkers with its story.
I'm loving it and I also gave up after a couple hours the first time I played it. I'm glad I gave it a second chance.
Not for everyone but try to give it a few extra hours, you might love it too.

I'll happily jump into a second one but I'd love Kojima to come up with something new every time. He's so unique and creative.

I know the backstory.

There was a tweet recently (I will try to find it) where he acknowledged someone saying the concept behind DS was originally Silent Hills, that is what made them so far along in pre-production and how the game came out so quickly compared to most from scratch to release in the AAA space. Obviously he did several major changes to make it his own after, but the whole strands and the "beached things", dualities, etc, were the direction he was going to go with SH.

I still think he may be working on it, there have been so many hints by him. And if not SH itself, a definite horror game.
In this tweet he explains that he did use that Thai horror movie as reference for PT (the Silent Hills demo/prologue teaser) but couldn't finish watching it and went back to watch it again as if he is going to get inspired for the scariest horror game. But he doesn't say to be working on a new horror game.

At that point he was releasing DS, then he moved to DS DC and both PC ports. And now to Death Stranding 2 and seems to be also invoolved in an anime movie (which I bet it will feature mechas). There is no other horror game.

Seems that Sony and Kojipro got happy with Death Stranding probably becoming the best selling Kojima game ever and earning more GOTY awards than any other game released that year, so decided to partner again for its sequel. I assume it's this simple.

We’ve seen lots of mocap photos both last year and this year. They’ve been plastered all through the Blue Box thread.

This thread is seperating the wheat from the chaff. Death Stranding is god-tier, one of those games that is *genuinely* original, Kojima has been trying wild, unique ideas ever since he entered this industry bitch. While I would have liked something new I'm down day 1 for whatever Kojima puts out, always and forever, Amen.

The first game set the bar for gaming visuals, I'm super excited for what they'll be able to pull off with the new hardware.

Here's DS inspired UE5 demo.

Didn't kojima reveal and release death stranding within about 3 years? I'm expecting a reveal and a release of 2023 for his next game, whatever it is.

Something ain't right i don't think Kojima has enough time to make DS2 & New Silent Hill at the same time something is off
Silent Hill should be almost complete, it’s been longer in development than DS1.
Kojima was working on a Silent Hill but it was cancelled in 2015 and the team was fired from Konami. Kojima has not been involved with Silent Hill or Konami since then.

He has been working on Death Stranding, Death Stranding Director's Cut, their PC ports and now Death Stranding 2. Plus opened an LA studio for movies and seems he's working on a movie or anime too and according to Kojima the studio productivity was heavily affected with covid lockdowns.

The Kojima or Sony Japan Studio involvement on a new Silent Hill was totally fake, like the MS and Stadia rumor debunked by Google. Japan Studio internal development staff was either being fired or merged into their internal Team Asobi team and the 2nd party publishing side (which was branched off into a Japanese XDEV team outside Japan Studio and part of their team was also fired and replaced with other people) was busy with Death Stranding, Demon's Souls and Death Stranding's Director Cut.

And well, there is no point on Sony publishing a Silent Hill because it's owned by another game publisher and they have too low sales compared to Sony IPs so doesn't make sense to see Sony interested on it to the point of getting a relationship beyond a standard 3rd party marketing deal.

Or he had started working on a horror project back in 2019 and canned it. I wouldn't use a 3-year-old tweet as hard proof that he's been making a horror game all this time when there has been little evidence to support that.
What he said in that tweet was that previously to that, while making PT, started to watch a Thai horror movie to get inspiration, but couldn't watch it enterely back then (probably because it was too scary). And said he went back to watch it again in 2019 probably to watch it until the end, as if he would be working on the scariest horror game. Which doesn't mean at all that he was working on a horror game.

What the evidence says is that in 2019 after releasing DS he did work on the DS PC port, on DS DC, its PC port and now DS2. And built their LA studio for movies, and seems they are working on an anime, I assume with the help of that studio. He recently moved to a different Japanese office. He also mentioned that covid lockdowns severy affected their productivy even if they are a small studio for AAA games and they released all this stuff relatively so fast.

There is absolutely no evidence of him working on Silent Hill or a horror game since he left Konami, or even in any other non DS related game. Zero evidence.
