VGTech: Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S Frame Rate Comparison (Next-Gen Update)

Excuse me, are you blind or something? Don't you see where I left a link to the stats with the exact frame-rate metrics for anyone to see?

And please bear in mind my texts are only summaries, not exact transcriptions of 15-20 minute long videos, ok? If someone wants to know all the details they just have to click on play, that's why I provide the video too.
Haha I'm sorry the person who made that post was "pre-caffiene" me. He can be pretty absent minded and snippy. Good work.

So how does cyberpunk 2077 compare to PC ultra on series X? Would you say they visually look about the same?

Is there anyone here who plays cyberpunk 2077 on series S, how does the aiming feel on the controller? I'm playing cyberpunk on Xbox One and the aiming feels kind of wonky using the default settings.
Minus RT in certain areas... they look very comparable in fact the PS5 looks better in some cases.

But I wouldn't listen to me or certain "others" watch it for yourself.

Yeah, extremely comparable.

You need a better prescription of eye glasses or you can remove the BS tinted ones.

Look, it's the same image!

Listen, I own PS5, Series X and PC with 3080. I've played Cyberpunk on all 3. The difference when you actually, you know, play the game and not watch some compressed YouTube footage is huge. Lighting. Reflections. Crowd density. Image clarity. Field of view. Aiming and shooting with M&K. It's a different experience.

Cherry picked images don't work bra.

"the difference is night and day."

"and damn boy, it's a last gen game in comparison."

Keep clowning yourself

People can watch the video themselves.

It would be better if "people" could play the game on current gen consoles and PC themselves to really understand the difference. And if that's not possible at least watch a video that showcases RT effects that are exclusive to PC version. Psycho RT settings in this game are what next gen feels like.

You know it's crazy I'm playing on the Xbox One and I know it's 30 frames per second but still the graphics are amazing to me, I can't imagine playing it on PC ultra settings!!!! I'm too poor to afford a PC rig.

The aiming on controller feels a little wonky am I the only one?

There's something wonky about aim acceleration. I don't even know how to describe it. This combined with low FOV makes it a chore when action gets heated. But I rarely play on a controller anyway so maybe I'm not the best person to comment on that.

Yes, boy. The difference between high-end PC and Series X is almost as big as difference between Series X and One X. Generational.

You would know if you would play it.

Note this is comparing RT on PC vs the PS4/XB1 version. The next gen patch didn't release a year ago.

I love how people ASSume they know what I have and haven't played.

🤡

The input lag is much higher than that. Average input lag on a 60 fps console game is close to 100 ms. Of course 30 fps makes those 100 ms even worse.
What?

Maybe on your TV but I haven't heard of such in about 10 years.

Note that RT effects on PS5/Series X are limited to shadows only. RT GI is where the cream is.

He's talking about the built-in latency found in many games I think
People have measured it. Most games hover around ~100 ms. TVs are always in Game Mode.
Link?

I'm pretty disappointed with this next gen patch on ps5. Anyone else? The 60 fos mode feels like it never holds 60, in fact the framerate was better pre patch and the fidelity mode (which looks great) is unplayable due to bad aiming controls and lag.

Whas weird is I don't see anyone complaining about this next gen patch so I doubt cd project will ever fix up thosr. K k

So I'm not the only one who finds the aiming to be extremely wonky on controller? Thing is Destiny is also 30FPS on Xbox One and the aiming feels fine. It's just really hard to aim at people in cyberpunk. I will eventually upgrade to a series S though, hopefully the aiming feels better there.

Even with that said, yes the atmosphere is fucking amazing and I even think the graphics look fucking amazing, I can't believe they were able to achieve this level of graphical fidelity on the base Xbox One.

Anyone playing Cyberpunk on Xbox Series S, is it a stable 30fps? I dont have a TV with variable refresh rate. I'm playing cyberpunk on xbox one and my god the bugs such as when I click to run and it won't respond, many times I have click 3 times in a row to get the guy to start running, how's the experience on the Series S?

If you're thinking of buying a Series S, don't! Spend the extra $200 and get the Series X. With how clumsy the aiming and deadzones are in that game you need 60 fps for it not to be utter jank. Also, many other reasons to get the X over the S.

I don't have the money to go out and buy a series X and a new TV that has variable refresh rate VRR. Have you played cyberpunk on the series s? Are you telling me that that aiming feels janky on the series S? The aiming is horribly janky on the Xbox One.

i can attest to this specifically in the case of forza 5/hitman 3. both games had horrendous input lag with their 60 FPS modes compared to PC on Series S (i don't know if it has to do with the power of the console or not).

of course,my 60 FPS on PC experience was with VRR enabled and no Vsync. No way to disable Vsync on console and completely fallback/rely on VRR, i think, unless devs specifically disable vsync for a given game. i can feel the exact input lag on PC when I enable Vsync here as well. I hate Vsync tbh

but the difference in terms of gameplay smoothness was astounding, nonetheless.

https://www.neogaf.com/threads/40-f...-morales-on-ps5.1635548/page-4#post-266073996

i did some tests here to show how big of an input lag increase the Vsync occurs. what is worse is the less frames you have, the more input lag you're burdened with. that's why 60 FPS modes on consoles drastically feel better than 30 FPS modes, because you're practically regaining quadruple amounts of input lag due to frame duplication. practically, i was shocked to see PC 30 fps being much more responsive, snappy and smooth to play compared to console 30 Fps, despite console users claiming for years that PC 30 fps is worse than consoles somehow. I think I understood the notion that consoles having an enormous input delay/input lag resulted in a more "smooth" looking motion image, which makes them think that console 30 FPS is better than PC 30 fps, which is inherently wrong, because if that's the case, that's just a case of sacrificing heavy input lag for the sake of image fluidity.

i can indeed say that heavy input lag 30 FPS "looks" more fluid to my eyes as well on my PC setup. but it definetely does not play "fluid" like it does without vsync.

practically, its a compromise. you want fluid looking 30 fps? go with full vsync, input lag, and buffers
you want normal, not so much fluid looking 30 fps but with snappy gameplay? go full vrr, disable vsync

i can respect everyone's opinions and choices of course, but i never liked the coveted "dreamy, magical" console 30 FPS that people kept talking about for years. I also played almost all PS excs on PS4 at 30 FPS, only game that really stood out was Spiderman, otherwise all other games had their compromises in achieving that fluid 30 FPS look. too much sacrifice on input lag, practically. Setting God of War to 30 FPS on PC without any vsync realized me how snappy the gameplay became compared to my PS4 experience, for example.

one of my friends believes that console devs used to do magical stuff to make 30 FPS appear 60 FPS-like and now they abandoned that magical stuff in favor of 60 FPS modes. now he says that he can't play 30 FPS modes anymore when a game has an additional 60 FPS mode. i'm not joking, he literally said "magical stuff".

cyberpunk has some weird gamepad delays by default
you can all set them to zero in gamepad settings. check them out, something something advanced controls. game will noticeably feel more smoother once you do that.

It's probably better than xbox one but they're both 30 fps so it can't be that much better. On ps5 at 30 fps it feels bad to aim ...I would save up if you need to it's only $200 more ...if you have a 4k tv already you need a Series X more than vrr imo.

Anyone know what's going on to this youtube channel? it's almost 12 days there is no more updating. I hope they are fine and they havent abandoned it. It's the most respectable channel for pixel counts and fps analysis, I lost any trust in DF from awhile for stuff like this.

There's no ignorance about it. The differences are visible, I just think you'd been better off playing the "drastic" angle without those pics. It damaged it more than aided it. And that's assuming those pics are cherry-picked to hell and back.

These are just few still images. I'm done trying to convince anyone. There are a lot of good quality videos on YouTube that show how the game looks like with and without effects like RT reflections and RT global illumination. The difference is, well... it's day and night. RT set to psycho makes the game looks next-gen. Everyone who had a chance to play the game on current gen consoles and a decent PC with 30XX series card will understand. The rest can live in ignorance. :messenger_heart:

He said it closer than he "imagined". How is that "ignorance"? And I agree with him that the differences are definitely noticeable. Are they "huge"? No, not to me they are not. And I've played the game on both PS5 and PC with 3070 Ti. I just think trying to overplay the difference is pointless. Does it look better on PC? Yes. Obviously. That's enough. Leave it at that.

Fair enough, I've checked them out. But I just think in this day and age, you get so used to things like that in a few hours that it doesn't really matter. I think the framerate advantage on PC and M/kb are more of a difference. It just feels like we've reduced what drastic is compared to the previous generations in comparisons. Shit like all the Crysis games etc on PC. Good fucking luck getting anything near that, even years later on console. Here we are in 2022 and we're a patch or mid gen refresh away from damn near parity with a $400 shitbox vs a $1400+ PC, or much closer at least.

I actually respect your opinion. To me, CP2077 represents one of the biggest gap between consoles and PC we've seen in a long, long time. Seeing it running side to side and seeing the difference just blows my mind. It gives you a bigger appreciation of how important the lighting in gaming is. We're just at the start of RT revolution and it makes me excited for the future of graphics.

well i have my own curated rt off/on comparions that should act as a decent baseline for non RT vs RT comparisons

https://imgsli.com/OTcwMjI

https://imgsli.com/MzU3MDI

https://imgsli.com/NDkzNjM (don't mind the pun)

https://imgsli.com/OTY1MTI (electric off is the RT here. practically, there's no light source that should lit up panam's face in this scene but rasterized renderer is unable to do that)

https://imgsli.com/NDg2NzA

https://imgsli.com/NDkzNDQ (this could've been achieved with competent SSAO)

I will have to add: with RT GI, the color grading of surfaces change a lot compared to normal GI in many locations

(spoiler comparison https://imgsli.com/OTY3MDI )

i would personally not choose PC over console for the differences above. i have my own other reasons for being on PC. but having such differences are always cool to me but by all no means i'd PERSONALLY consider them a deciding factor
