Jason Schreier says his sources just told him God of War Ragnarök is still slated for 2022

It looks like it's coming in very hot and Sony are trying to make it 2022, if it gets delayed we'll probably hear later on in the year.
What is taking so long? From what we saw it was a crossgen game very similar to the first one and they developed the first one from scratch in 5 year max (because 5 years before it released Coro Barlog wasn't even at SSM).

2023 is not ideal at all, no crossgen game should release in 2023.

I said no such thing, I'm saying if the studio can't hit the 2022 release we'll likely hear about later this year. I mean with all these rumours floating around it must be going to the wire.

You said it’s coming in hot.

Ok, I don't know which thread is funnier, this or the other one.

I'm crying right now tho, omg.

Yeah, it seems its going to be a close call if they can finish it on time (obviously in a polished state). You not heard that term before?

Of course when it’s used with broken titles like Fallout 76 and Cyberpunk. If it’s delayed it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s because the project is in flames.

I think you misread the figure of speech.

If anything they won’t release it hot if that makes any sense. But it doesn’t mean there are issues with the games performance. Could be they need to mocap a few more things or record a couple of lines. We don’t know at this point.

Edit: If anything Jasón didn’t mention Cyberpunk with this. If it does get delayed it won’t be because the games a technical disaster.

His comment had nothing to do with performance.

Coming in hot means they're moving fast to get it finished, nothing to do with the expected quality, sorry for the confusion.

That usually happens at the end of a games development. I believe your saying they are going through crunch now.

That’s fine I’ve seen people use coming in hot when something is going to be released in a bad state. If anything I’m sure they won’t release it broken whenever that may be.

I hope it isn't delayed.

But just imagine this "part 1" rumour is about GOW and they split it in two parts... That would be aweful.

Probably was a Sept launch. But with Starfield pushed, they likely asked Cory if he could make use of a month or two more. 🤷‍♂️

late October - early November always seemed like a better fit for GoW anyway

i also like the fact that its releasing very far away from Elden Ring. By the time Ragnarok comes out the circle jerking around Elden Ring (which i do love) will have mostly faded from everyones memory. There were at least two whole months where the general gaming populace was so sure they never wanted a game with a focused narrative ever again

I'm calling Late November, October has Forspoken and MW 2. November they would have all to themselves. Assassins creed cant compete with Kratos marketing. And the leak for AC was that code name was Infinity, and here we are June with no trailer for tease for it? So it might get pushed? Avatar might be their big game this fall. If Hogwarts keeps its tentative date that game is going to murder if released in October.

It would be great, they pretty much said this saga ends with Ragnarok and it's really hard to believe they would be able to conclude it in one game.

I think there is room for more than just two games in that setting.

I dont think they will want to miss the awards cut off

And i always assumed Hogwarts was November since it’s Holiday. I’’ve never seen a holiday game slated for october

Stop taking unverified rumors as gospel truth. Or at least rumors from sources that haven’t demonstrated their reliability over time.

That’s all there is to this.

I mean when you think about it. It wouldn't actually be that different to what they did with the original trilogy.

I'd like to know from Jason just exactly the working conditions and the state of crunch over at the studio if they are pushing to get this out............

Just kidding, I couldn't give a fuck. Hopefully this comes out this year, at the cost of how many marriages and missed family dinners who knows? It'll be worth it.:messenger_sunglasses:

It's gotta be 2022, it was pushed from 2021 and seem we to be pretty far in development from the footage we saw aaages ago. I still have faith for 2022.

Schreier sounds confident. 2022 is probably a lock. Early 2023 is probably gonna be loaded with BOTW2 and Starfield.

"my sources haven't heard anything different than what they last heard" doesn't sound definite though...? I hope it does come out this year and that it's awesome but people really need to chill out and accept that we have no control over game releases and delays.
