The co-op mode for Halo Infinite is at long last on its way. In fact, players will be able to give it a whirl from next month.

If you want to have a shot at this test flight, you will have to register to become a Halo Insider. This program is the "official way for Halo fans and community members to partner with 343 Industries to help improve our games, products, and services."

I wonder what they settled on for how respawning works, like BL2 with set points, or just right next to the other players? There was that information about how they couldn't decide which was best gameplay wise but also which caused the least headaches from a tech perspective, I can't remember if that was official info or just leaked though so maybe they moved on from that.

It was "leaked" info, it was never confirmed or debunked.
But I am also curious how they will handle respawns.
Maybe I'll do a co op legendary or co op speed run for the acheivements :)

I mean it's funny, Joseph Staten obviously steered 343 to focus on the right things to get the game to launch in the state it did. It felt polished enough and had sufficient content, at least to begin with.

But boy the development issues this game was suffering from when he joined must have been incredible if its been 7 months and we're only now getting Co-op as a beta test lol.

Also very curious to see how this is handled in terms of balance. This game is going to be very boring if we can easily hop into two pelicans and just decimate enemies from above.

I really think they need to add more enemy & enemy types to make it fun.

It's too little, too late for me at this point. With that said, I'm very curious to see the state of this - everything 343i has released has always been broken beyond imagination. Hell, Season 2 broke the shooting for a couple of weeks. The fucking shooting. I'm expecting co-op to be a huge mess.

its an insiders flight to stress test functionality with a large user base. Best to make sure it releases properly and to catch any high impact bugs before going public.

Even answering that question is an insult of one's intelligence. I admire you for taking up the challenge.

Easy to make fun of news. Still, a co-op playthrough with buddies/family is always fun. Pump up the difficulty and just go. I hope they give a decent leeway with player distances to each other.

Ah coop for Infinite's campaign, we can all have our gameplay interrupted together while we listen to a 360-era brute hologram or our we-have-cortana-at-home AI or our friend with the cool Mexican accent who hasn't showered in months drivels on in endless exposition speeches. Pun fucking intended.

What a boring campaign it was. What a shit story it was. It might get one legendary run through with coop friends but I'm not even really bothered if that happens either. My kids stopped playing Halo long ago and have no interest in coop anymore either. I think they've adapted faster than I have to better games.

Bit late now, everyone has played through the rather lacking campaign solo.

Would be great if they could include a firefight mode or some additional story to coincide with the co-op mode to make returning to the game more attractive.

Yep a Destiny style mini-campaign expansion along with coop or PvE content would be a solid regular 3 or 6 monthly sustain cycle. How they haven't planned this for a "10 year game" is beyond me. Here we are waaay behind a good launch still.

Hopefully coop brings these sorts of surprises in the Xbox showcase rather than just a plain old coop added. I don't hold any hope of it in reality though.

I mean... What's the point now?
To play the campaign in coop, something we couldn't do before.. It certainly will add something for me and my son, we've been waiting for this for quite some time, and I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones out there.

With that said, I do get the backlash surrounding 343's handling of the series, it would certainly be better off in the hands of another team (another management team doubly so (fuck Stinkles btw)) back when Bungie abandoned it. At least after all these years they got the basic gameplay components together.. But they should've shown us that they wanted to go the extra mile as some sort of "compensation" for the havoc they've done. But for some reason they continue to be so fucking impotent.

Halo is simply a trainwreck, delayed for months after community backlash yet they could not manage to have coop from the get go. A feature that was a core part of Halo.

Now after months we will only have a beta? WTF happened to these devs? Let's blame it on COVID I guess.

If "trainwreck" means delivering a game with a metascore of 87, then sure. Insert giant eyeroll here. Go back to your 10th playthrough of gow, one of the world's best unfinished games. (Love it, just was half a game)

Then obviously this isn't for you? Imagine that...

I have 183 hours in Infinite on Steam. I finished it on Legendary and completed all activities. The game was for me and co-op would be for me. I'm just done with it. Unless, there's a new part of the ring to explore I'm not interested in campaign anymore.

Imagine that.

Pretty much the same here, Yet I can go back and play halo 1,2,3 another thousand times and still find fun.

The Shitspace engine needs to die, I can't honestly believe a 2022 game with a AAA budget looks like this. Yes the game plays great but the graphics are dated by even last generation standard's. It's also has to be the reason why content is so slow coming out. I refuse to believe the entire 343 team is that incompetent. It has to be down to the tools aka the Slipspace engine or whatever it was called before that.
