Xbox is partnering up with Samsung to launch a Xbox TV app, allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to access their library on Samsung smart TVs Coming out on June 30.

Microsoft also announced Project Moorcroft which allows Game Pass members to play "new, curated demos" of upcoming games, starting next year. Microsoft also states that they are on track to launch 5 (or even more) first-party games next fiscal year across console, PC and cloud.

Pretty badass honestly as a backup option for people.

I was playing pac man museum yesterday on my phone through the cloud. Worked completely fine, and that game is very dependent on control accuracy.

PS5 $500
Xbox Series X $500
Xbox Series S $300
XCloud Free

I could see a whole generation of kids growing up playing like this, especially during a recession and global chip shortage. Then fast forward 12 years and it's just normal for everyone.

How do you get xCloud for free?

Yep, this is the future. I will stick to dedicated hardware as long as they will continue to make it but this right here is the future.

I think there will always be a market for local hardware. Good to have options though.

100 Mbps is more than what you need to stream 4K/60.

unfortunately there's people that still thinks that a Gigabit internet fibre speed will magically bend the physics laws and reduce latency

This is a great idea but streaming games through xcloud isn’t the smoothest experience right now.

Can’t imagine causals will want to game that way because of the lag. Just imagine playing games like Fortnite or Halo infinite through streaming.

It's a short list of hardware costs. You can add the cost of the TV if you want to all the options. The point I was making is that there's no console hardware. It's just an app. The app is free.

I guess you'd have to buy a controller though.

No shit, but if you have 200 mbit/s downstream from your ISP and 3 people are downloading shit at the same time you're going to have a bad time.

exactly

you're going to have bad time in that case either if you have a 100M ethernet port or a 10gigabit ethernet, ON YOUR DEVICE

I believe he’s listing the hardware costs. The assumption is that you’re already going to have to pay for Gamepass (or a similar subscription service) if you want the library to play games from.

Yeah....I get it now. I was looking to see if there was some deal with Samsung for free xCloud or something.

Samsung TV’s can also use Steam Link, but having this be its own thing is actually pretty cool. You could in theory buy a Smart TV and a controller and have everything you need. I’ve used Steam Link on my TV. Worst thing that happens is I can’t see the mouse cursor. I wish they’d fix that.

LOL that is not the case....trust me, even on my gigabit internet I notice some delays.

That's a very slow speed, unless you enjoy lots of input lag.

The delays you notice are latency related, no amount of raw speed will fix it unfortunately.

I hope it doesn't take them too long to include other smart TV's otherwise this is dead in the water

That has nothing to do with gigabit…. 🤦🏻

I called this years ago on here and people didn’t believe me.

Buy a Xbox controller for $40 bucks and away you go with every latest title. No, us and the hard cores won’t love it. Will kids today notice or give a shit as long as they can play the latest title? Not in the slightest. Will parents give a shit when they can just buy a family gamepass account and let every kid play instead of spending thousands on consoles?

Just imagine, as a kid, when you had to pick your one megadrive or NES game for the year for your birthday for $110.

Or someone came along and said you can play any new Megadrive game for an entire year for the same price, any time, and hundreds of other games 🤯 But mummmm the latancyyyy

that's sad to hear if that's the case, let's see how it performs come June 30th - unfortunately i don't even own a samsung TV.

It also effects how close you are to the nearest data distribution center. The closer, the better basically.

This will be coming soon to many SMART TVs I assume. Parents can get their kids or themselves a game library for $15 a month.

Yeah my nephews and nieces are all playing with my Stadia account from their home and it's legal.(i can share my library with 5 groups)

For people asking how do we get a free xcloud ?

It has begun...

Fortnite is free on Xcloud(no gamepass needed), GFN.
PUBG is F2P on Stadia...

Upcoming Smart TVs will have Xcloud, Stadia, GFN integrated with a load of F2P and more if people want subs or buy games...

Useless console wars will slowly vanish.

I guess Samsung is paying for this exclusivity? Seems silly to limit the options unless MS is trying to control how many people connect. I've been negative on Xcloud but it's improved and can be very convenient sometimes.

Back in 2015. Cloud gaming will never take off.

Cool looking forward to seeing how Sony's service works on my Samsung too. We can compare to see how well each one works!

It also appears you can even use a DualSense controller with the new Xbox streaming service so it respects all sorts of ways to play.
