VGC: PS+ Collection Version of Resident Evil 7 Not Eligible For Next-Gen Upgrades.

You own the right to the game as long as you are PAYING for the subscription. That’s the deal, always has been.

Now with poorly thought out policy, the game comes with an asterisk, caveats, strings attached.. Nobody knows where they stand or what they got.

You can get any dlc for it, even if it’s free. But you may or may not get the “free” upgrade - it’s a lottery.

Genius arrangement!
Yeah well this is the future so many of you want so I say, suck it up. You don't like it, vote with your wallets. You aren't entitled to everything even if you have paid for it...

Thanks for telling me what’s for me. Even though I owned the disc since day one, and gave it away soon after I got it as part of my paid subscription.

No tall enough high horse FOR YOU tho.

I'd take this as a learning lesson then. Never give a game away, for access to a subscription service's version. This goes for music and movies too! It's always best to "own your media"!

The only learning lesson I get here is no matter how despicable corporate practices get, there will always be corp defenders willing to personally attack fellow fans who simply expect better

You own the right to access the PS4 version of REVII via the PS+ collection, which is exactly what you get. I don't understand why that's such a difficult concept to grasp

I don't think anyone finds it a difficult concept to grasp, just one that doesn't really need to exist.

If Capcom/Sony/Whoever are happy for people to pay a subscription to PS Plus to be able to play RE7 for as long as they maintain their subscription, it is not unfair in the slightest to expect that this agreement would extend to the upgraded version of the game for Ps5, that is being given out free to anyone who has purchased RE7 in any other way other than PS Plus.

They could supply the Ps5 version to Ps5 Plus subscribers quite easily. They just choose not to, so they can charge for it. Again. Because the person with the subscription has already paid for it.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

No it reflects poorly on cheap gamers. Just buy games! It isn't that hard. Stop wanting to bankrupt the gaming industry.
Dude - I keep paying for that game every single month. And if you saw my deleted emails (Thank you for your purchase types) you would not call me cheap. I think anyway.

Anyway, I disagree with you but respect that you aren't making up fake excuses like coding even though its already being done.

How has it been paid for exactly? When your PS+ sub has expired you no longer have access to any of the games because you haven't purchased any of them - only access to them as long as you are subscribed. The PS+ sub grants you access to REVII on PS4, which is exactly what everyone gets.

Capcom offer the free upgrade to those that have purchased the game, so they are not obligated to give a free upgrade to those accessing via PS+ as they haven't purchased the game. There's nothing stopping them allowing for the upgrade anyway but that's up to Capcom.

I'm not defending. I'm explaining. I'm a HUGE supporter of consumer ownership. Do I have a Spotify account? Yes. But I know that at any time they can remove songs or whole albums from any playlist I've set up because I don't own the music. I don't have a sense of entitlement about the things I'm "renting".

What do you mean, you're paying for it? Like you're actually buying the game and they just keep taking your money without letting you download it?

The bolded is where you're wrong. You didn't pay for it and you know it.

I mean look, is it bad? Yes. Is it a big deal? Not really (in my opinion). Was it expected? Absolutely I mean we’ve seen this before with FF7. Can we easily blame one over the other for this one? No as the game is Capcom but it is Sony service.

It’ll be offered for free with the new Plus service just give it time or if you can’t wait, the PS4 is dirt cheap physical so you can just grab that and upgrade.

I continue to pay for access to it via PS+. I strenuously reject any argument that it was free or is free. It is part of what Sony offers and I accepted and paid for.

I do agree Sony has no obligation here. But they are the nickel and dimers in this. The players are not.

They can, and should, make the Ps5 version of the game available to PS Plus subscribers while they still have their subscription.

Every other game that is on PS Plus, but can also be bought seperately does it... Why not this one?

Of course they are not obligated to do it, but they should.

Literally no one's going to rebuy a 5/yo game they already "own" for some minor upgrades. I have believe they know this, they probably just don't want to pay Sony for the bandwidth they charge pubs for PSN DL's.

You dont own the games on GP but get them. You guys use any excuse to support Sony.
I'm not supporting shit just stating facts. Also gamepass and ps plus don't work in the same way despite being subscription services, one uses smart delivery the other doesn't. If capcom decides to offer the free update they can end of story.

False equivalency, Spotify is an all you can eat service that has been setup from the outset to rotate content. Ps+ or “essential”now, is licensing you the game forever as long as you are subscribed. Have you never claimed a ps+ offering….you literally get emailed a $0 invoice…recent Team Sonic…

GamePass has the basic version of Control. PS+ basic has the Ultimate next-gen version.

These things are up to the third-party developers, not just Sony and Microsoft.

That's because control og and UE are different physical products altogether.

There was no free patch to upgrade base control to UE, you *had* to buy the new version. People made a lot of fuss about it back then.

Point being, it's not the same case as this or Greedfall or FFVII where the base game received a free next gen patch.
