NEW PS Plus Extra & Premium In Europe: Bad News For Premium.. Good For Extra

To be honest the PAL version stuff wouldn't bother me much if they just let the console output 50Hz to match at least

That would be better (and the PS5 CAN output 50hz - it does with PAL DVDs - just not for games). But it would still be inferior 25/50fps versions that generally run slower.

Shouldn't you put that in the OT and change title?... For people who don't read the all thread

Called it. I mean, it was obvious this was gonna happen.

Extra it is, not gonna pay a cent more until they allow us to choose 60hz versions of the classic games.

Edit:

Ah, nice. So we'll see when that happens and which games will be covered.

First impressions: had stacked 3 years of PSNow so, for no extra cost, my son is in this precise moment playing ghost of tsu for the first time (we don't buy games anymore) while i type this on my cell phone tacking a dump.
Fantastic service.

Just to clarify, Extra lets you stream PS4 games, right?

Premium gives you access to PSOne, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games?

I don't care for the 'classics', I just want to be able to download/stream PS4 games.

Its the 6th post and I made a separate thread just in case it was missed. Think thats enough. Also more people have seen it here than the separate thread I made.

Today I tested the cloud gaming again after a lot of time with Darkstalkers Ressurrection and I got surprised with the input lag and image quality. It seems highly improved since the last time I tried it, now many people wouldn't notice the streaming with a connection like mine. In the short couple of matches I got the performance was pretty much perfect. I never thought it was going to be possible with a Street Fighter-like game via cloud gaming.

Great news. Let's hope that in addition to this they fix their 60Hz patch for the remaining PAL games.

  • PS+ Essential is exactly the same as the previous PS Plus (Monthly games, PS Plus Collection, Share Play, Cloud saves, extra PSN store diiscounts etc).
  • PS+ Extra includes the same as PS+ Essential and a "games collection" with over 400 PS4 and PS5 games to be downloaded.
  • PS+ Premium includes the same as PS+ Extra and allows you to download or stream the "games collection" games in PS4, PS5 and PC via cloud gaming. It also adds time limited full game trials and a "classics collection" with over 300 additional games.

The "classics collection" has 3 sectons:
  • Emulated PS1, PSP and PS2 games (downloadable or cloud gaming)
  • Remasters or remakes of PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, Vita games for PS4 or PS5 (downloadable or cloud gaming)
  • Native PS3 games (cloud gaming only)

Downloaded Syphon filter and RE today and booted them before going to work, Quite impressed with the resolution. Man, can't wait for the weekend. Syphon Filter trophy hunting time. Real shame RE doesn't have them though.

Now please add RE2+3 and possibly Survivor to the Service, then I can finally do a whole series run without switching the console.

They can't really "fix it", the games are hardcoded to run at 50hz, which is simply incompatible with the 60hz output of the PS5. It will never be smooth. The only proper fix would be to let the console output at 50hz. The games would still run 17% slower than the NTSC versions, but at least with consistent frame delivery.

They can fix it. Others emulators fix it with a 60Hz patch for PAL games. In the original PS1 and PS2 consoles the pirates also patched the games or released boot leader discs that patched them.

I don't know how they do it internally (I assume they simply tell the emulator to refresh 60 times per second instead of 50), but it's possible to put PAL games at 60Hz and not only in PS1, but also in many other old consoles.

It should fix all the games made originally for USA or Japan and were badly adapted to PAL so they run slower there. The European games that were originally made for PAL shouldn't use it because if the game code isn't ready to automatically adapt to the NTSC refresh it may break the game or at least go 16.6667% too fast.

I'd add a "60Hz patch for PAL games" option as an additional option in the video settings of the emulator with a disclaimer mentioining it may break some games. That would save them the huge amount of work that would mean to test all PAL games with that.

Get a PS3 if you want classics.

Who the fuck sets up a Ps3 for Ps1 'classics'. Most shitty handhelds can run them at this point, it's a shame Sony cant get them to run on a Ps5

PS+ Extra is a good deal if you haven't played most of Sony's AAA output for PS4 all these years. The Premium tier is kind of redundant at the moment except if you really really have the itch for the classic collection of games.

That's not a fix. Its a shitty hack that's likely to cause all sorts of weird issues on a per-title basis.

We're talking about simple single-threaded applications likely to be using vsync as a time-base for certain functions. You cannot simply assume 50/60hz is freely interchangeable, even if in many cases it is possible. Emulators get away with it because there's no specific warranty or expectation of flawless performance.

The worst part being that if I title was initially properly re-optimized for PAL its going to be impacted worse than if it was simply left as-is from the NTSC build.

Japan got a load more decent JRPG’s namely 6 entries in the trails series which sucks UK got shafted hard there’s a ton of games but it’s definitely quantity over quality at the moment.

Is there anywhere like CDKeys.com to buy PS Plus Extra or Premium digital codes yet? I can only see regular PS Plus ones.

I tried to play Demon's Souls and Spiderman MM but it's still asking for the disc, have you got to delete and download the whole game again?

Got extra (was £34 for the year, cause sheer coincidence my normal PS+ sub is from 23rd June to 22nd June), and downloading games as I type this. Lots to go through , clearly not enough time in the world.

100% worth it for me.

totally worth it matthew perry GIF
