So, is Sonic 3: Angel Island Revisited still the best version of Sonic 3&K?

Does the Sonic Origins version have anything Sonic 3 A.I.R doesn't? The latter has widescreen, plus the MJ music!

Probably, the only downside is you need steam and a PC. I have it on my laptop but wish it was on console. I don't want to buy a dedicated PC for my TV.

Whatever version Sonic Team not touch will be the best version.

Shame about the Headcannon news. At least Taxman reputation is intact.

And you can freely mod Sonic AIR. Don't like much of the original music itself? Boot up the prototype versions, like I did. The options even appear on the menu and you can freely change at anytime.

To think once again fans deliver a better experience than Sega. And tbh I just wanted an enhaced version of classics, wasn't asking much.

I missed this, just looked it up. Shame really, it was such a simple idea but it got pushed and rushed to the point of disappointment.

I would say greedy by SEGA because of the sucess from the movie.

But again, Headcannon know what was comming. People over steam are complain this game is a hell upscale, with I believe confirm that, besides S3K, all the other versions are simple poorly ports from the mobile version, not necessary native app.

Even Headcannon confirmed over Twitter that only S3K his team have worked, SEGA would take care of the rest.
Well, as you can see we're seeing the results.

Hopefully it gets fixed up by the time it goes on deep deep sale, the additions look like a fun spin on some classics that I wouldn't mind playing.

Sonic AIR has a slightly remastered soundtrack with higher sound quality. It also doesn't have the problem of sfx muting music channels like every game did at the time.

Not sure how Origins fares.

Edit: Oh wait. They messed up the music in Sonic 3?

Hard pass.

This is incorrect. You just need a PC and a ROM of S3&K. That's it. You don't need to buy any S3&K unless you rip the ROM yourself.

Also, as a reminder:

If you have Sonic Origins and want to fix the soundtrack, you can do so here:

It's very easy, just copy the files provided in the ZIP into the sounds folder which is located here:

Steam\steamapps\common\SonicOrigins\image\x64\raw\sound

Yes.

Also check out Sonic Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic CD Decompilation:

Boom there's your collection in widescreen.

You can just use any old ROM for S3&K, right? It doesn't have to be the Steam version? I keep seeing people referencing the Steam version as the basis.

I should check out some of these at some point, I do like the Origins collection, it’s fine but knowing it could be better stings a little

Where were these when I was looking for something like this at the start of the year?! Thanks for sharing

If I can get ReShade working to cut through the raw pixel look and turn it into something more like a CRT output, they will be perfect
