I have a Oneplus 7 Pro but the microphone does not work. I am looking to replace my handset with a phone of similar quality without wasting an excessive amount of cash (I do not see any point in spending more than 400-500 bucks on a phone to be honest).

Furthermore, how do I safely backup all my data including photos? Is there a suitable app which allows you to migrate data?

That does seem like a fair option. I do like the OP7 Pro - besides the broken mic, it is still the best handset I've owned.

Pop-up camera > punch out camera.

Too bad the Oneplus repair service will wipe out my entire phone. Is there an easy way to backup your data on Android or Oneplus phones?

Samsung or Pixel. I have an iPhone but if I had to go back to Android it'd be one of those.

The Pixel 6A is coming out soon. I loved my 3A XL. If you don't want a Pixel then get the most expensive Samsung you can go for.

I would avoid the likes of Oneplus. They've gone to shit these days.

I would go for a Samsung but they seem incredibly overpriced.

My OnePlus 7 Pro only cost me 400 and it was a flagship phone when I purchased it 3 years ago. I'm in no rush to spend 700-800 on a phone which will barely do anything better.

For now I think I'll try my luck at the Oneplus repair service; if that fails then I'll probably end up buying the Oneplus Nord 2T.

Not sure what other good mid ranged phones exist however.

It's updated all the time and I've had no issues with battery life.

OnePlus 9 Pro... I would suggest the carrier version... You can get a really good one, used/refurbished, for like 500...

This is my first OnePlus phone and I DO love it! Camera is great, battery life is great also (like most phones, mileage will vary even on the same platform)... This will be the longest I've kept a phone and I don't see myself getting a new one until maybe the 11 Pro. Or the 12 Pro.

Edit: you can transfer your data with the OnePlus transfer app.

Sony the cameras and screen are really good. iPhones are expensive but they have high resell value. Samsung, Asus and others are a miss or hit, most are cheap plastic trash filled with bloatware...

I would just get Nokia from 2000 and call it a day.

One of Motorola/Lenovo's best phones, the Stylus 5G (2022 model) is on sale for $450. Has a headphone jack and microSD card slot, too.

I have a Pixel 6 and love it. The bugginess that was present when it first launched has largely been taken care of by updates. The camera is absolutely insane. The battery life is solid (enough to last you the day easily, unless you're traveling and using it non stop literally all day). The screen looks good. I really like it and recommend it.

I could wait for the Pixel 7, though I wish 6.6 - 6.7 inches for the screen was standard as opposed to being reserved for the Pro only. Bigger screen sizes are always better.

Ultimately I think most mobile phones are vastly overpriced, particularly Samsung who seem to be very resistant to price cuts. I'm not even sure why the Pixel 6 Pro is so expensive too.

There has been a substantial price creep over the recent years and high end models don't offer anything special.

This is part of the reason why I love my OnePlus 7 Pro. Unfortunately the "hole" appears to be here to stay for good. I imagine it's cheaper to produce too.

Samsung A series or the Sony Xperia 10 IV.

The Sony has decent cameras, a 3.5mm jack, no notch or bullet hole, a big battery for the size, and a decent speaker (not dual front ones). No camera button, but eh, it's a 'budget' phone.

Honestly, with LG gone, there's nothing else worth it in that price range. Pixels are hit or miss and Nokias (sorry, they aren't Nokia, HMDs) can be too.

I'd keep that. I bought a cheap Pixel 4a but I love the idea of a popup camera. For security and lack of punch out.

I'd either try to fix it or just use a good earbud for calls.

Similar boat, on a oneplus7, but want new phone as charging is a pain as I have to get the cable in exactly the right position to charge, plus my rear glass panel is broken again (after having it replaced from cracking it the first time, even though in a hard case). Just want a phone thats faster than my current one, with a non-glass back, wireless charging and 3.5mm headphone jack and not extortionately priced.

I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Z fold 3 (niche phone really) and couldn't imagine going back to a regular phone again. Easily the best I've ever used. Expensive tho

Pixel is also great for that. Just pure, stock Android. Also has a really smooth data transfer app so you can migrate everything to your new phone.

I have recently bought a Motorola Moto G 5G and it has a very good battery (around 2 days of you don't exaggerate), microphone jack and, as you request, stock Android. All stock apps from Google, no bloat. Performance is very good and photos are quite good too.
It costs 300 something but I've found it at 180 euros and i think it's very good value for the money.

I'll never understand why people don't just get a pixel when going with android. Made by Google, everything is stock no bloatware, camera is amazing and runs damn fine. I'm rocking a pixel 3 and besides the battery life degrading it has zero issues.

As other a have said - if iPhone is not an option just get Samsung and stick with it, it will allow you painless upgrading down the line.

I'm not an Android person but I don't understand why all users just don't get a Pixel for updates and security. Makes zero sense to me using a Samsung etc.

Best bet for this type of software is a phone that you can put Lineage, Calyx, or graphene OS on.

Scamming is actually good at updates. One of the few that actually do them for a while.

Otherwise best bet is to use a Pixel or something that you can flash a new ROM onto that gets security update support for years.

Couple of questions about the pixel 6:

Is it an actual upgrade compared to a oneplus 7? Or it's just an advice to stay low on price and having stock android?

How is the screen? I like great quality screens.

Are the gps\wifi chips any good? (Range and precision)

IPhone 13 is the only one that has both top of the class Camera and Battery life. It's also the one with the more secure OS, an important factor where apps have been rampantly leaking information nowadays.
