Nextorage 1TB SSD for Playstation 5 $127!

For those that don't know Sony owns Nextorage and it's performance is one of the best reviewed drives out there. Very competitive. These drives were Japan only until recently and very hard to acquire. The 2TB is $259.

Edit: Sorry about not providing the Amazon link. It was late and I was tired. I just wanted to help people out just before I dozed off.

Limited-time deal: Nextorage Internal SSD 1TB for PS5 and PC Memory Expansion M.2 2280 Gen4 NVMe with Heatsink NEM-PA1TB/N SYM Maximum Transfer Rate Read: 7300MB/s, Write: 6000MB/s https://a.co/d/3ff28DZ

How does it work, do I get additional 1TB and can use it exactly as the internal drive, launch games etc? Or is there some annoying transfer process needed to launch games?

I struggle with the internal storage all the time after subbing to PS+

You can run games from it.

Those read/write speeds are very impressive. Do these run any hotter than say the WD SN850 SSDs or the Samsung 980 Pro SSDs in the PS5?

I’ve changed my hard drive before for more game storage, in the end it’s not worth it loading up so many games when you can only play one, I love the ps3 hard drive set up, they add external storage devices for ps4, I respect what the ps5 has in at launch.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about real life tests. Not bullshit that's written on the package.

Just because they put 7300mb read speed on the package doesn't mean they achieve It in real life tests.

That's why I asked "how so?", dude. Do you have the real life test numbers for both these SSDs?

Open SSD market again doing what was expected: less than $299 for the 2 TB version at those read and write speeds is quite something.
wow, I thought I got a great deal not quite a year ago when I managed to snag the WD SN850 for $380

I’ve definitely gotten use out of it but it’s kinda crazy to see how much the price has dropped when everything else is going up in price due to inflation

I hope I can eventually get a storage card for my XBSX at these prices

As we said would happen less than 2 years ago in an open competitive market.
Unless your proprietary solution is like 10x better than open market solutions it is harder and harder to avoid that from biting everyone involved in the behind.

You can get more than one plug and play memory card, but cost difference is making it worse and worse and you are still card swapping and fridge cleaning while you are looking at 4 TB drives not being that far off in the horizon. I wonder if PS5 can be patched to support even larger drives.

What is the largest it currently can support?

I'm sure it will be, the PS3's firmware was patched, as was the the PS4s for larger drives.

Same as the PS4, 250GB to 8TB.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps5-install-m2-ssd/ I think the maximum is 4 TB for now. 8 TB would be nice though :).

The read speed is capped on the ps5 anyways. So going above the limit isn’t going to make a difference (think it’s around 6100 or 6500, can’t remember off the top of my head).

But good to see the prices come down and making things more affordable all round. Especially in this current day.

Stuck a adata blade 1tb in mine and haven’t noticed a difference when playing games off of it. When compared to the built in internal.

That's for the M2, the external drive is still an 8TB limit. They probably just put the 4TB limit there for the M2 because there's nothing bigger yet and there won't be an affordable 4TB one for a LONG time.

Also this but Gen3, much faster than xbox though:

If I hadn't already bought the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX, I would have definitely jumped on this.

Although slightly slower in read and write speeds, the Corsair is around the same price ($129.99 for 1TB, $249.99 for 2TB), in case these get sold out and anyone is looking for another option.

Trying to match that storage size with 4x1 TB or 2x2 TB XSX|S cards costs you a pretty penny extra compared to the $699 SSD you found there (even after adding a heatsink on top).

This is a good deal. Earlier this year I bought a WD Black 1tb for 180. Its great and to be honest, 1tb is enough imo. Its really 1tb you get, not some 800gb nonsense. Paired with the internal its over 1.7tb. Which is the same storage as PS4 modded with 2tb SATA. That lasted me through the gen and with the fact I load PS4 apps off external and smaller PS5 apps in general I figure its enough.

It's pretty clear the PS5 storage solution will always be cheaper and the Xbox solution will always be hot swappable and portable. One is more flexible, one costs less. Pros and cons like most things in life.

You are changing your tune compared to pre-launch, but hey at last you agree with what everyone else was saying for months before and after launch (moving the goal post a little) :). Also, one is faster and more reusable more easily (M2 SSD can be reused on PC’s too and consoles with or without external enclosures) too. Part of being cheaper despite being better HW means you can have more storage more easily.

Also, being able to hit swap is likely for most to be a having to over wanting to (the use case of carrying your memory card around is not as common as you paint it compared to wanting more storage) because you have less space. 4 TB is again getting close to be affordable to many (2 TB is now getting close if not less than the 1 TB memory card for XSX|S).

You can use external drives, but that caps your loading time improvements unless you have a pretty fast USB 3 external drive right? I am starting to load some games from external drives on my XSX and PS5, but I am choosing games with already low loading times and/or small games likely to fit in memory as is.
