This has been on my Steam wishlist for years, had no idea it was coming to consoles. Will definitely have to scoop this up

Strange to see that only last gen versions will be released...
I know its not graphics heavy or anything but still a native current gen version would be preferred...

Shit, I missed that this is coming to console. I've been tempted to pick it up on Steam but have never pulled the trigger because I just don't game much on PC. I may have to pull the trigger on the console version.

Never got the jist of that game. It looks brilliant, in theory I should like it and the reviews speak for themselves. I've tried it like two years ago but couldn't get the hang of it. It felt overwhelming and I never knew what I was doing 😵‍💫

I think this is the type of game you have to commit "learning" for the first couple of hours. Having a video like this on hand when you first play should help some people get past the onboarding phase.

Guys, don’t overlook this game, is a real masterpiece.

One of the best out there on Steam. The graphic is essential, but the gameplay and the AI director are ace.

Thnx for the heads up, and for the Learning Guide. I'll probably give this a shot to see what all the fuss is about.

Have fun! I've only put like 40 hours into the game, which isn't a lot for those kinds of games, but I can say it's amazing and very fun.

It's easy to lost track of time when playing this, as you'll always have short term goals, lomg term goals and the ocasional incidents like a bunch of robots raiding your base or someone getting sick and start puking all over your base.

Cool shit. If you are into "procedural narrative" kind of stuff, you'll enjoy this one for sure.

In fact... Is there any other game better than this one when it comes to colony management? I know it spawned a lot of clones, but I was wondering if there is any that could directly compete with this one.

I'm addicted to this version already after starting this last night, playing deluxe edition on PS5. I probably wouldn't have paid full price for it here in the UK (£44.99 for the edition with Royalty DLC) but got it much cheaper via my Turkey PSN account so all good.

Control scheme is decent...logically laid out and after an hour or so I was finding it pretty intuitive. The whole UI in fact has had an overhaul, especially text boxes and fonts, and I'd suggest it's an improvement on PC in a lot of these areas.

Ludeon Studios indie sci-fi management game, RimWorld, is a top down construction management experience. The First 17 minutes of gameplay for the console edition releasing for PS4 and Xbox One on July 29, 2022.

Anyone jump in yet?

I put about 10 hours into it so far.

+ Probably the best "RTS" controls on controller I've seen. The pause button, type of game, and cursor feel make it top notch in that area.

- It's the War and Peace of console games. 10 hours in and I feel like I've seen + understand .0000001 percent of the game. The most desert island of desert island games.

Isn't that a good thing? I really enjoyed diving into it knowing almost nothing about it's depth. The game has lots of possibilities and even allow for some role playing.

Btw! Does the console edition include the expansions Royalty and Ideology? Heard they are cool (I don't have them), specially Ideology.

I think console gamers are a different breed. Smooth onboarding is way more important for the console demographic compared to PC players. I watched a video yesterday where they explained you can assign "allowable areas" for each individual pawn. I don't think I would have caught that in 500 hours of playtime. In a theoretical perfect game, the layers of depth reveal themselves more naturally.

The special edition comes with Royalty, but not Ideology. Perhaps that'll come down the road depending on how the Console Edition does. Base game is just vanilla.

Overall, still really like the game so far.

One of the best games of the last 20 years on PC. I’ve poured more hours into this and Stardew Valley than any other game on any platform. It’s really not even close.

Rimworld is frustrating, hilarious, relaxing and challenging all at the same time. As another person said, it’s a deserted island game.

Really enjoying this but also struggling. Anyone have any tips or a link to a good video on starting your settlement? I keep running into food supply issues.

Are you picking the crashlanded start? It's very important to start with 3 colonists whose skills will cover all the basic stuff:
  • Try to always start with someone who knows how to shoot, preferably if he also has animals skills. It'll be important for hunting.
  • Plants is very important. The moment you land on the planet you should be growing rice, which yields food at a fast pace. Corn is great for the longterm, and if you can you should also plant healroot to have a steady supply on medicine. Also try growing your crops on fertile soil, they'll grow much faster.
  • Also, kinda silly but remember to haul your crops after sowing them! They'll rot on the outside if you don't.
  • Cooking. I lost a colony of 8 because non of them knew how to cook, so they spent most of the time with stomach sickness which really slows them down. Also, don't put the butcher table in the same room where you cook; that shit produces a lot of filth and you should always cook in the cleanest room.
  • Construction and medicine are also almost mandatory for a nice start I'd say.
I'm sure there are tons of helpful videos on YouTube but, at least in my experience, the best way to learn is to try and fail.

Plant your rice field on day 1 or day 2. Rice seems to be the best crop as it grows fast and lasts in storage a relatively long time.

Choose "temperate forest with 50/60 growing days (or year round)" as your starting tile from world map.

Then the big thing you have to figure out is getting your Nutrient Dispenser w/hoppers going.

In my 80 hours of playtime I've never used the nutrient dispenser. :goog_relieved:

I'd leave that as a last resort. Colonists don't like eating that shit and it affects their mood so, unless things are going bad, I'd advise to try and provide them a steady flow of fine meals instead.

We are excited to bring you Ideology for RimWorld Console Edition. Allowing you to take your RimWorld experience to the next level. The perfect way to add even more depth and complexity to your colonies, the Ideology DLC lets you create your own unique belief systems by combining core memes and precepts, allow you to customise the gameplay experience to your liking and create a colony that truly reflects your values and play style.

Belief systems define social roles for leaders, moral guides, and skill specialists. They invoke rituals, guide preferences around food and create reverence around specific animals, desire different apparel as well as allowing access to new different buildings and strategies. Everything is customizable. You can create your own story, build temples or beautiful orchards with drifting leaves. You might hold beautiful skylantern festivals or vicious gladiator duels.

By introducing different belief systems and ideologies, the Ideology DLC adds a new layer of depth to the storytelling in RimWorld, leading to exciting conflicts and interactions between different factions in your colony, making each play through more unique and engaging.

So, whether you're a seasoned RimWorld player or new to the game, the Ideology DLC is the perfect way to add more variety and challenge to your gameplay experience.
