It's more understandable that Sony doesn't view it as profitable rather than ripping off consumers.
I guess to Gamefreak is “profitable” to pursue high tech graphics because majority of their fan base don’t care about graphics.

And people cry about why Bayonetta 3 is Nintendo exclusive, to Sony its not “profitable” enough to support them.

Don't quote me while cutting out half my post.

Would you not say there's a significant difference in intent behind Microsoft with used games and Gamefreak with Pokemon budgets vs Sony with not developing Japanese games? Your reply shows me you didn't understand my post, more clear by you only quoting part of it

Nintendo first party games in general seem awfully afraid of anti-aliasing. This could at least do with some ambient occlusion.

BOTW, Bayoneta, Astral Chain all look good.

I could give a pass to Sword&Shield if it was released alongside the console, but the texture work on Sword and Shield is really bad, and legends of Arceus is atrocious.

Understand that many companies today release low budget games for console prices $60 on the Switch. From Falcom to NISA. The difference and why people don't complain about Disgaea or Trails is the intent behind the games development. Pokemon games are designed and developed to be as profitable as they can be for their CEO and shareholders by cutting as many corners as consumers will accept.

Also, I recall Sword/Shield being Gamefreaks highest selling games but them still acknowledging the fanbase complaining about the Dex, animations and tree textures. Would you you not say they've improved on all 3?
I don't recall Game Freak ever acknowledging 'tree textures'. But PLA did improve in regards to animations along with tweaks to models by having things like their mouths actually being modeled instead of a texture like previous games. SV carries over a good bit of that from the looks of it, along with finally making more use of normal maps; which are baby steps that I don't quite believe were in response to the fanbase considering the development timeline.

Eh, I don't agree with the Bayonetta mention. The latest entry looks largely the same visual fidelity as it did in its debut back in the 7th gen. In some ways a step down in terms of art direction from Bayonetta 2 as well. Better visually compared to this, yes, but it's an offender in its own ways. Meanwhile, the franchise that it's a spiritual successor of (DMC) has already went far beyond that. I guess this is the end result of the bad hand the sequels were dealt and the only publisher willing to fund them happening to be Nintendo.

I was really scratching my head at that. Aren't both supposed to be motocycles pokemon? Why the heck the red one still use its members?

But it does have the best waifus:

The pokemon bikes are a step too far for me, especially when it's a main feature of the game. I don't want to look at that shit for dozens of hours.

Not a fan of the evolution gimmick this time around but other than that I think it looks pretty good within context.

Guys, it's a game made for kids....

You think a 10 year old is gonna be like "yo wtf this art style sucks!" or "why no anti aliasing?" Hell, even a 10YO seems too old for Pokemon these days.

The "it's made for kids" excuse is really bad. There are plenty of games made for kids that are technically great and can etertain adults as well.

That's fine and all, I was just saying it's made for kids so these sorts of technical complaints about the game aren't necessary. Kids will enjoy it regardless, adults can enjoy it too but it's not really made for them.

I'm an adult and i'm going to enjoy it regardless :messenger_hushed:, it's hard to deny that the Pokémon formula just works.

But Game Freak still needs to get their shitty together with the texture work in these games.

Pokemon never was a game for kids. Even this Pokemon Direct show like 80% of the people in this video are adults.

I'm calling it, lowest selling of the Series since Ruby and Sapphire. Bookmark this.

The original game and show definitely were, also the GBC games, and then those kids got older.

You're making confusion. Target audience. They know that.

In fact, if you played since Red/Blue you know that most of the drastic modifications/upgrades was for adult space, never was to satisfice kids.

Unless you're saying IV and EV was purpose for kids.

Both of those came from Ruby and Sapphire, which goes with my point that the first two were for kids. Even those were for kids until you got competitive.

IV already existed on Gold/Silver. Is even on the manual lol.

Try leveling up a Pokemon using only rare candies.

And yet doesn't work at all like IV in any game after. R/S set the standard, it set most of the standards even beyond those two for the competitive stuff which I don't see the appeal in.

Don't matter. Is there dude lmao. For kids or not.
Yeah it does matter, because it was for kids, and the change in R/S from G/S was done to appeal to the older kids durr.

And EV didn't start until R/S also.

Both first two games were fully for kids, and all games after are also aimed toward kids except the competitive scene where adults cream their pants on whether to add double team to their 4 move list while holding a berry.

I am not into graphics, but i would love a Cel Shading and Open World Pokémon game.

It would be awesome.

Reality is, the people bitching and moaning about the graphics, about how “shitty” GameFreak is - they were never going to buy it even if it was a AAA next generation, 4K title. They would just find other reasons to bitch and moan about something.

Why does the red one have wheels that it doesnt use and instead moves on all 4?

I bet you're okay with the cat in Persona turning into a van but aight.
totally different. its not his main form and he completely turn into an actual van, not something dumb like this motorcycle hybrid pokemon. most importantly, it is not dumb looking.

for comparison:

and this one is Makoto's bike persona:

here is FF13's Shiva in bike form:

God I hate Pokémon but since this one is based on my own country I’m so tempted to get it just out of national pride…

The Multiplayer implementation looks really cool. I would like to know some more details on it. Looks like an even more open experience than Arceus.
