Street Fighter 6 beta

That's kinda embarrassing but cool that you got in the beta regardless.

The only thing that is embarrassing are the novels you type up on here and your iconera Sony safe haven forum full of permanently banned PlayStation shills from all across the internet 👍

(not saying your as in you own it)

The only power we have in this industry is our wallets. I didn’t agree with Capcom selling fucking Street Fighter to Sony so i didn’t buy it. How is it embarrassing to use that power? I don’t put money behind moves like that.

Will check this out. Looks promising. I spent some time with Guilty Gear Strive but don't feel like continuing, got a bit stale. I suppose all things do eventually. SFV kept my interest for quite a long time, hoping it will repeat with VI.

Define terrible. I'd like more context please.
Not that you asked me, but considering I share the same sentiment(in general at least), I figured I'd share.

The music seems like something created by someone who didn't know they were making pieces for a fighting game. Just general tunes that got slammed into the game as an after thought. The music doesn't fit what's happening on the screen at all, even if some of it doesn't sound bad on it's own. It's disconnected, and does nothing to add to the experience. In SFV, the music for the most part matches the onscreen action. Even the changes to how the music plays according to your life bar magnify the gameplay. It doesn't matter if it's the Bustling Side Street, or the Christmas version of Metro City Bay or whatever is called, it manages to fit into the package and feel deliberate and thoughtful to the other sounds happening as it's playing. This has nothing to do with the character themes btw, which I turn off for this very reason in SFV.

Cry harder.

Capcom didn't "sell" SF to Sony that gen; they were seeking a partner to help co-fund the game and since Microsoft didn't give a damn, Sony took up the opportunity. After the recent reveals of MS passing up on stuff like Marvel, the idea they didn't bother for SFV considering they already had Killer Instinct at the time is perfectly valid.

But you instead decided not to play a game you were otherwise interested in out of "principal" to defend the honor of a trillion dollar company none of whose money is lining your pocket? Yeah, that's a big L in embarrassment my dude.

Oh I see the problem, you’re viewing it through the lens of a mouth breathing console warrior.

I’m not “defending the honor” of any company, genius, I’m just sticking up for myself as a consumer. You should try it sometime.

Bonus lulz for you going full warrior and trying to excuse the SFV deal 😆🤡🤡🤡

Easily the worst part of this entire package. I'd give up all of this single player shit and have Vs modes only if it meant the music would get better.

The game looks OK in general, finally they figure out the art direction for god sake, but the OST is like made for Spofty/Generation Z. Ryu Theme using drums, remix?
Guile Theme and Chun-li are terrible either. I feel like I got a pretty good generation for OST in fightning game. GG3rd rev have an amazing OST, some character themes are OKish, but the OST from stages are pretty good. I can't see connections from Alpha 2 or Savior Vampire, is not a japanese staff is doing all those sounds. Is pretty bad.

There is nothing about SF on those tracks. I'm really cautions about this game, how to play will vary a lot, not to mention their netcode, but if I have an option to turn off the music, will be a lesser problem to deal. I hate playing games with terrible musics.

If you do like the OST so far is useless explaining.

Of course not, game has to sync online.
Street fighter 4 allowed uncapped frame rates online on pc, it's why I asked.

Wait does this mean my 120fps on KOFXV will get capped to 60fps when it gets crossplay?! :l

Assuming what you're saying is true? (Also halo infinite allows me to play at 120fps against 30fps x1 players)

I'm unsure how this stuff works, but please explain, if you can?/don't mind? :)

I recall having a good laugh at the SFIV intro song, definite daytona vibes going on there. I haven't played SFV yet so can't comment on that music.

You can't have 2 guys playing online with different framerate without the experience being messy. That's why Framerate will be locked to 60 for online play.

120fps (a tiny portion of players) vs 60fps (most players) online would mean to give an unfair advantage to the players with 120fps.
does 120 fps mean you have to be twice as quick as 60 fps for frame timings and all that stuff i never pay attention to?

The soundtrack is bad enough to legitimately be distracting. Especially if you are a fan of fighting game music in general. Not bad like grows on you over time like MVC2. Just bad.

Strange how people that are liking the SFVI OST are forgeting so easily the SFIV music intro. I remember getting a huge ton of backlash.

But modern days I guess. I saw people over Twitter getting the themes so far and making more like old Street Fighter games. One guy got this shit new Ryu Theme and make into a decent one IMO. Gonna find the tweet about.

All I’m waiting for is to hear how well the beta runs on Steamdeck. Hopefully someone tests this when it goes live

I kept getting stuck with Modern controls in the 4 matches I played. Changed it at the options and training mode and still was getting put back to it in a online match. Tried to change it in the player profile and it still no luck. It goes right back to classic when im in training mode. That issue aside the game is everything you've seen and more thanks to the ridiculous amount of options in the menu. It's quite overwhelming in a way(a good way). Got kicked out a couple of times thus far but you can get right back to it very quickly even when it happens. The netcode seems to be...........ridiculously good.

I even tried it on my 5g hotspot box that doesn't have good ping and yet it felt really good to play still. I didn't get any weird syncing issues playing PC players like in SFV so that's another relief. Playing it feels great and fun. It's good having that feeling of exploring things again. Was worried about Battlehub functionally but it works very well in the current state it's in outside of the kicks.

It's under maintenance now so i'll play later on.

EDIT: got the classic controls to save now.☺️

Played a bit. Not bad, but not super impressive either.

RE engine is a weird one. Characters look amazing but everything else looks meh. DMC5 is a great example of it.

The gameplay is good, but haven't really spent enough time.

Weird stuff I've noticed is 4k with 3080 I get slowdowns, surprising for the RE engine. Also my fight stick wasn't detected properly so had to play with pad.

Can I even stay in training mode or do they force you online no matter what? Seems the latter as it's a network test.

Means that being you equally quick in both versions, in the 120fps version you have more time to react because the game updates faster, giving you a competitive advantage. It's something very known and measured on MP shooters. So they cap it to 60fps to ensure players have a more similar and balanced experience in all platforms.

It also would change what you mention regarding the timings for combos and strategy. It's already very complex having everyone the same timings. Giving many different timings would break the competitive play, so for this reason is also a good idea to cap it to ensure everyone has the same (or almost) experience.

In fact it's a common issue for crossplay in competitive games: people using very high end PCs they have an advantage and while also many people playing with potato PCs have a disadvantage. So they should cap it at 60 fps and make sure all platforms run it at steady 60fps, which means they shouldn't allow PC players to play the competitive ranked modes if they can't achieve steady 60fps.

How do you get the beta?
You can't now.

You had to apply on their website during certain days on a period that is already over (I did it on time), made a lottery and sent codes for it (I wasn't lucky and didn't receive mine).

In the future pretty likely they'll do more betas. This was limited, (closed, didn't include PS4) pretty likely a beta to detect basic online network infrastructure issues or basic gameplay balance issues.

Pretty likely in the future will make at least another one open and also including PS4, where their biggest userbase is, to mainly do a server stress test and see how the game and their infrastructure performs with a ton of players connected.

I like that they announce and show player streaks and things like that on that screen in the battlehub. Pretty cool.

Also

With it going through emergency maintenance now, i'll mess around with it later today. I need to rest.

Design is good, gameplay is ok, music is really terrible.
I'll stick with Kof and buy this fall 2023 with more chars released...

I have to use a pad to walk around as arcade sticks don't have a right stick to change camera direction.

I've always had the opposite reaction. Character models in the RE engine always look super awkward to me. It's gotten better, RE7 was really bad, but I still don't like how people look in the engine a lot of the time.

Any netcode feedback?

Also i'm curious how the game will perform on PS5, wonder if it's 1440/60 or can they hit 4K/60. Hopefully somebody like DF will do analysis with the Beta build.
