Witcher 3 Next Gen Features Trailer

Thanks for the answer. Regarding comparison screenshots I felt they look the same but at different hour time. I see not difference in models or textures, only it has a more appealing lighting that could occur in base game under the same conditions.

For me it's a 60fps that brings pc quality to consoles. But original PC quality, that was a PS4 hi res version, not something really next gen, like the difference that you can find between console and PC versions of Cyberpunk. It's because that I'm disappointed, because I played more tha 200 hours of The Witcher 3 PC version and this looks exactly as before. I was expecting at least new models. I know it's not a remaster and it's free, but they have made hype about this as if it was a remaster.

I saw people saying The Last of Us 1 remake is almost the same than the Ps4 version, meanwhile this update shows a huge difference. And I think what is speaking is the fact one cost 80€ and the other is free, not the objective difference.

I mean just look closely at the screenshots I pointed out. It’s not an objective opinion. There’s literally different textures in spots.

And anyone comparing this to TLOU Part I in any way is a complete idiot, sorry. They aren’t remotely comparable.

The TV show is a pretty faithful retelling of the books so I wonder what the quests could be. I expect that toss a coin to your witcher song will be here lol.
I don't know where you guys are getting that the show is a faithful retelling of the books....is it because the show runner claimed it would be?

That was a lie. She fibbed. I literally stopped watching after the second episode of season 2 purely because of how off the rails it was going, and it was going wildly off the rails. It follows a few main story beats from the books, but it's retelling of the events and it's characterization efforts couldn't be less faithful to the literature. The show's first season was badly directed but vastly more faithful, the second season proved they didn't give a fuck about the source material at all.

Because I read the books and watched the show, dickhead. The djinn, the hedgehog face guy, ciri origin story, the butcher of blaviken…. All straight from the books. To be fair I also tapped out on season 2 because it was trash.

Didn't see the stream but i see people saying the loading is improved on consoles, i really really hope so since i now remembering that on PS4 every time you die or fast-travel it took about 1 minute loading or even longer and it was really one of the only issues i had with the game.

I’ve read the books as well.

For a second I thought you said season two was faithful to the books. 😂 but we both know that’s not true.

No reason for the dick head comment. I actually really like your posts, you can probably tell from my liking your stuff often, just trying to have a conversation bro. I read the books too, and tapped out on Season 2 for the same reason. Not really sure why what I said made you so mad when we agree. Whatever man.

RTGI is actually the best way to lit a 3D world. Offline rendering uses GI for ages , I use it for 10 years. So it’s awesome to have real time, you should give a shit imo.
No i really shouldn't (at least in his current state) i tried that thing in 2 games and didn't noticed enough of a difference to completely fuck up resolution, framerate and details over it.

I take a 4k texture pack over any rtx stuff.

Sorry bro. I didn’t mean that to sound as cunty as it did now that I’m reading it again.

If many people are having a hard time distinguishing between the pre-backed lighting and RTGI, it only means the pre-baked lighting was well done. I wasn't really counting on RT bringing a huge difference in visuals but I was still curious nonetheless.
Regardless, it looks like most of the discernible visual difference is actually coming from having more stuff on screen (more NPCs, denser vegetation, more and better animations) than it is from raytracing.
It actually reminds me a lot of the 2013/2014 demos that were subsequently downgraded, probably because the consoles' CPUs couldn't handle all those moving objects on screen.

This is obviously great because it's free, but from the videos I think it highlights a bit how far off this 7 year-old game is from today's standards on geometry and texture detail.
I'm currently playing God of War Ragnarok on the PS5 and the difference in those is enormous, despite Ragnarok itself being limited as a cross-gen game.

I always tell people to look at Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, it's a good example of what RTGI can bring in terms of visuals. It's such a gorgeous game.

So it's not going to be a rerelease?
Just a patch for ps4 version?
Same with pc? New steam entry or no?

PS4/Xbox/NS and PC will be a patch.

Can't say for PS5/Series X because if I would guess they will replace the BC version of the game, unless BC games support Dualsense features.

I'll probably close this year playing this. I enjoyed it a lot on my first playthrough at launch so I don't remember a whole lot other than the main story important events. In some ways it will be like playing it again.

I don't think I'll do all the quests and all the Witcher armor sets, though.

To me this is a really good update, even if it just was adding mods (which it isn't) because stuff won't break like sometimes happens with mods.

I appreciate CDPR going back to how it used to operate before CP2077. I hope this time they stay this way.

Yes it's coming to pc as a free patch. Also people need to chill, Rockstar Games did a lot less for GTAV and charged you $20 for it.

I get your point, but I don't care about what some other studio managed to do with some other game. A performance mode with variable res and RT has become the norm. This joins the outliers now, which is a shame. I was expecting more of CDPR.

Ah well, I have a good RTX 3080 powered PC so I guess first world problems and all.

I was expecting almost nothing and even that I'm disappointed. As I played the game in PC and now I wanted to replay it in PS5, this trailer looks exactly what I played at the moment. It's a lot less effort than that hi-res mod commented in this forum.

I understand it's free, but for a shameful update like this you don't make a livestream or create hype during months, you simply release the patch and that's it.
Is this sarcasm?
If not are you really complaining about a free update on a 7 year old game? Like really?

So why didn't you volunteer to help CDPR for free to make it happen?

How do you know that it's not the PC version?
It's from the video they released.

DNhLQnt.jpg

Here's the Timestamped video

What's actually going on is that the sun has either moved between gameplay sessions or the light is being affected by a change in the assets, say, the tree assets shape might have been changed meaning the light is now hitting Geralts face. Nothing to do with RT GI.

These consoles are still not powerful enough for all the ray tracing and path tracing capabilities, but it’s a good start to see RTGI in games .. hopefully we will see more RTGI or lumen based solutions in next (this gen) games. Coupled with the higher polygon counts and texture work will make awesome looking games.

You’re being gently trolled. There is no other explanation for such a wild opinion.

New patch includes this mod:

I’d call it a heavy texture rework. Don’t judge textures based on heavily compressed YouTube trailer.
I already have that.

One would hope that a fucking big studios could do a better job compared to what modders do in their spare time...

Point me to the studio that goes through the effort like we see here and does it for free, then we talk.

Console only players should be over the moon happy.

As a PC player I'm happy that the base game is better than ever and now supports RT. We can expect new RT centric mods in the future.

I find it hard to complain about it.

I'm not complaining, i'm just saying what would push me to replay the game, kinda the point of an upgrade and a discussion based on an upgrade, for you is rtx, for me a texture rework better than what a fucking modder can do.

You are happy with the rtx thing, i could not give less of a fuck about it, good for you i guess.

This is aimed at console players, hence its name and its perfectly adequate for that.

RTGI only really shows and shines once you see it in action with day/night cycles and changing environment not on screenshots.

Also the comparisons made here with screenshots and whatnot are all useless because they had been taken from a compressed video stream.
We will see real differences once the update has been released an people can actually compare those game versions with the same hardware and whatnot.
Not comparing Console 60fps Screenshots to PC ultra+ settings screenshots.

Apparently there will be a physical release later on, they wouldn't say when. But at launch it will be just a patch.

Oh yes the modder. Why not get the modder to make the game in the first place?

I'm pretty sure it's a native current-gen release and not at PS4 patch? I reckon it's a Xbox One patch tho' since it's done different on that platform.

The modder who did that works for CDPR now, afaik, or maybe im confusing him with another, but CDPR did hire a few modders in their team. This might be one of them.

I wish they could tone down the ballerina combat. Oh well, I'll definitely check it out for the improved sign combat and better graphics.

Hmmm, now I wonder what good mods are there for W2. Have to actually beat that game, and then play W3 next. Left the game when you meet Triss

great for new players I suppose, but I struggle to see anything here that would warrant a replay of a few hundred hour game from someone who has already completed it.

This is shit. I'd like it more if they charged me 70 bucks.

I think the argument is that people expected more and would have been willing to pay for it if more was offered.

As it stands its a perfectly fine upgrade considering it's free, it looks nice enough but it's not a huge step up over the original. In fact it doesn't look too different to what's already available on PC with mods.
