Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I dream of a world where a major company announces a decently priced ($399~), affordable, 32'' 4K monitor with HDMI 2.1a.

Well thats just stupid no matter what tv you buy
Why it hasn’t hurt a few year old Sony X900H or my Samsung QN90a

Just because it’s stupid to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others

Trust me I have a good thing going and I don’t need inferior tech that’s going to burn in as my main displays

I have an older C9 when I want the OLED experience

Wonder if we could see the redesigned PS5
Do you mean the one included in the car? Because I highly doubt they'll announce a PS5 Pro or something like that. Now that they'll finally be able to mass produce the original one I don't see them announcing a different one.

I was thinking that they will reveal that "PS5 Slim" but January is too soon. According to Henderson they are expecting to launch it in Q3 of 2023. Until then they need to sell out all remaining PS5/PS5 DE. If they reveal it too soon they are risking that people will just wait for new, better model.

Interested to see what they do with the flagship Quantum Dot-OLEDs

On that note does anyone know the time between CES TV reveals and the tv being available at retail?

At CES? Doubtful.
They are shifting to a single sku one that has a detachable disk drive, just curious when we see this one.

It was CES last year we saw the PSVR2 first, I THINK

Does that have other requirements than regular DV (which Sony TVs have had for ages)?
Apparently it'll allow more ports for hdmi 2.1 and can push up to 144hz. LG TVs have had dolby vision low latency game mode for a few years now but the old mediatek chip in Sony's TVs have been holding them back. I think whenever they add DV gaming to their TVs we'll finally get an update for PS5 just like how the VRR situation turned out.

I don't think there is any such thing as "Dolby Vision Gaming" actually. Not that I can find at least. There's just Dolby Vision, which Sony TVs already support but the PS5 doesn't (probably because Sony doesn't want to pay for the license). I don't think the HDMI controller has anything to do with it.

When I had my Sony OLED I thought the same thing until I used my Series X in dolby vision and the input latency was horrible that mode is only meant for movies. After doing research apparently the old Pentonic Mediatek soc wasn't capable of dolby vision 4k 120z low latency which is why Sony's TVs don't have a DV game mode like LG.

Yeah, I don't think DV is supported in game mode on Sony TVs. But they support regular HDR10, by which for games is pretty much as good. What DV adds is dynamic tone mapping per scene, but I don't think that's as relevant for games.

They probably won't announce it until it's ready to be in stock, and it wouldn't be ready to stock right after Christmas. So I'd like to see a Slim happen (this current one is just too danged big!) but I expect PlayStation at CES will just be PSVR2 and maybe some TV pairing demos, if anything at all.

I love DV game mode on my Series X I notice a slight difference but you might be right it could be placebo lol

Yes, the same 4chan annonimous source said they Sony is also buying Nintendo, Tencent, Apple and Microsoft. I'm curious when they will announce it.

I was kidding. That SKU would make sense somewhere in the future, but it's only a rumor. I think they'll want to ship a shit ton of units of the current skus that still couldn't ship due to chip shortages. If they move to that single SKU model with detachable disk drive, something I think they'll do for PS6, would be down in the road, not something that they'd announce in a couple of months.

I know Tom Henderson has been saying for awhile now Sony is going to this single sku PS5 with a detachable base and he was the first one to mention a PS5 pro style controller (that I know of)

Thank you.Do you think we will get at CES gaming news ?Probably only hardware wise like headset or so probably no new game trailer or announcements
Might get some game news but likely just about the new PSVR would be my guess.

Some seem to think Sony might reveal the new PS5 with the detachable drive but who knows

I doubt that we get anything interesting PlayStation related at CES. However, hopefully we do get a State of Play in January.
