Dead Space Remake - First 18 minutes

Not sure if I'm feeling that Isaac has a voice. It felt really good being able to insert some imagination into the experience about how he was handling the situation, especially the devastation that
Nicole is dead
and how situations like
That appearance of her and the monsters trying to stop you specifically from communicating with her
having a sense of confusion to the whole thing.

I mean I'm going to play it, especially with how Callisto turned out, but I wonder if we could silence him.
Silent protagonists always suck

Tag, you're it.
WHY IS ISAAC TALKING ??????????

Glitching GIF

I, for real, didn't knew that they changed this. Fuck. I thought it added SO MUCH to the first game. And it was designed like that...
And honestly Dead Space didn't need a full remake imho, something like Mass Effect Legendary Edition would've been enough as those game aged like fine wine.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Not interested in the slightest, I'd rather play the original.

It's not just that I already felt like this was an unnecessary remake (like so many others coming out), but now, after seeing all those things they've changed just because... nah, they can keep it.

I’m not seeing anything that screams remake. The original game still looks great on PC.
I’d need a side by side comparison.

Hang on a minute, I never played the game when it came out but fired it up on GP yesterday (man that 360 resolution), but this looks like the exact same game but with some new objects and textures. Am I wrong here? Is it just the OG polished up? Can't be built from the ground up right?! Am I crazy or does it look EXACTLY the same?

Can't wait. I didn't play the first (and im not going to) and this looks incredible to me, I hate silent protagonists most of the time so I don't mind that aspect at all.

This is going to be great, because they are implementing that new system which adds a bit of randomness to the enemy encounters. Dead Space has always been great, but once you realized that each monster encounter was triggered by you walking past a certain point in the level, or doing a specific action, it took some of the thrill away. Now, we really should be having some unpredictable encounters from time to time.

The only thing that hasn't aged well about the original IIRC, is the gamepad controls of the PC version. It doesn't feel right.
Yep, and mouse controls are kinda fucked too. Thankfully there seem to be fixes for both issues already.

No they don't, it's hilarious how all the fake fans are coming out of the woodworks complaining about a silent Isaac in Ds1, when it did wonders for the game's atmosphere
No idea what you meant by fake fans, but I played 1 and 2 on release and I liked 2 more partly because the guy could actually talk.

This is what I'm afraid of the most, the "intensity director" sounds like a cool name for tons of enemy respawn on backtracking. Will it shower you with ammo? I hope I'm wrong.

That's the problem with some graphical remakes... they overload the environments.
Halo anniversary remake looks way betters than original but also way too busy. Original is still better
I mean, in some cases, it really works IMO. Like in a futuristic setting like Dead Space's, I feel. Especially in the ones they've already shown. I understand there's beauty in simplicity in some cases. The cool thing about remakes is that they don't replace the original. So, if you're into it, great! If not, ignore it, and continue to appreciate the original.

Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games ever, and I'm very hesitant on the remake. But hey, if it sucks, the original is still there. As well as the enhanced mod which is insanely good.

LMAO at the first stasis use on the door.

At the 13:40 mark.

Definitely some IGN gameplay, lmao.

Ok, so this looks like a great remake, cant wait to play it.
The "girlfriend" line doesn't necessarily mean *HER* girlfriend though. It's about the context of the conversation, they were talking about Isaac listening to his girlfriends recording over n over, so her saying "yeah, i'd rather listen to my girlfriend than Hammonds military crap" is just her empathizing with Isaac.
And those saying it's just a 1:1 with just a graphics upgrade, it's not. They've already said it's got the extra dialog, extra rooms, new gore system and that system that determines enemy placement so no playthrough will be exactly the same, which all sounds great to me?

I would have less of an issue with remakes if they all had button or other version to switch too.
usually best original versions of the game just need higher res and fps. Thats's why silent hill 2 still is best on ps2 or mgs on ps1

Man, in a perfect world we'd have something like that all the time. Just insanely well done remasters that allow you to go back and forth. I've loved the games that have done that so far, and it's always so impressive and cool to go back and forth.

Yeah that intro where the lady not only goes "I miss my girlfriend" but also shows how smart and sassy she is because out of nowhere she dunks on her boss that he checked her file is some weapons-grade cringe. So unnecessary.

I don't have a problem with Isaac talking, but if you do that you better go all the way. You can't have a talking protagonist and then have him be dead fucking silent when his teammate gets ripped to shreds by some insane monster.

I dunno about this one, man. It has "okay but nothing else" all over it.
