How can the player character movement can be so floaty and stiff at the same time?

Looks really boring. Gameplay doesnt seem tight as a souls game should be.

This will be another souls like that would be hyped and forgotten weeks after release.

Basically NiOh 3, kinda wish they would do something new but if it ain't broken why fix it / innovate.
Some things they could do is make the story more meaningful and give more context to the enemies and characters you encounter.
Otherwise it quickly degenerates to a bunch of corridors with random encounters, although the combat system is excellent and is much more refined than anything Fromsoft has generated (fight me).

IGN has posted a 10-minute gameplay video of a new area in action RPG Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty called “Mount Tianzhu.”

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on March 3, 2023 worldwide. It will also be available via Xbox Game Pass.

Watch the footage below.

This is from Team Ninja?! I would of never imagined them being so far behind visually with videogames, that is crazy.

Will Team Ninja ever make anything other than PS3 games? How are they stuck so much in the past technically? Its insane. I understand maybe using old style graphics but at least mordernize it for current hardware like holy shit how can u look at that 2008 popin and aliasing and think, yeah that looks good boys. Ffs.

Not really feeling it from footage released. But I also didn't feel it from Nioh trailers either and I put hundreds of hours in those games. With Nioh I had a PS4 and could play those demos and it felt much more enjoyable than watching it. Unfortunately I don't have (or want) current gen consoles and KT (unsurprisingly) haven't said anything about a PC demo so I'm kinda stuck.

. . .man, if they brought in a Creative Writing major to whip up some story whose vagueness hides the the narrative weakness of the storyteller, and combined it with this gameplay - they'd be showered in critical praise. At best we're going to get another Team Ninja game with exceptional combat, absurdly deep character builds and a collective "It's Alright I Guess" from critiques.

. . .just like all of Team Ninja's other "Soulslikes" that no-one played right? Nonsense statement. Hell, even Stranger of Paradise has life in it (and will almost surely do well when it releases on STEAM), and it is all because of the gameplay, which they are just the best at in the Soulslike space, hands down.

Wo long : Nioh 3

Nah, the combat system is quite different.

They use their own tech so their games have a certain "look", but as it seems to ensure everything is extremely well-tuned and feels very positive to play... works for me.

Also comparing their games to PS3 visually is such a joke when the things their games stress (frame-rate and VFX pipeline) are precisely the sort of thing that the fill-rate limited RSX was weakest at.

Nioh 2 on PC maxed out looks great, but it is not up to snuff of games around it.

This game looks rough visually, and to me a downgrade from Nioh 2. This looks more like Stranger Final Fantasy visuals and that’s not a compliment. Hopefully maxed out in a decent rig the game looks better :

Level design looks non existent, not just in this vid but the other ones of this game (didn't play the beta). Not interested in souls, hoping Rise of Ronin will be less souls like.

Yeah they use to be one of the best, but that was a long, long time ago.
Was about to say massive downgrade until I realized this isn’t the same game:

But at least the uglier one is a real game amirite?

Can't wait! Must be immensely satisfying once you get good at the combat system and understand how to the builds work. The demo was brutal, harder than Sekiro and the Nioh games imo.

Freaking hate this kind of level design , its look so video game . You clearly see the playable area, the hallway lead to small room to another hallway .

In darksouls / gow atleast the levels give you a illusion of a real, living world .

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I for one LOVE the linear level design. For fucks sake people, for some genres I’d just love it to be an arena fighter - where you progress from arena to arena and kill monsters.

Disagree with that. The demo build was very much on-par with Nioh 2 visually and with much more open environments to boot.

Stranger is a bit of an odd case, the first demo was very rough but the final version is considerably better optimized. I suspect the problem may have been that it was developed by a different team within TN who had less experience with the engine, and as a result underestimated the amount of stress running 3 characters and large numbers of enemies at all times was going to place on it.

To be honest looking at Stranger I can imagine they worked out the battle system first and then tried to do the best they could with what resources they had left over for the environments, and overall image. Its quite a different animal to Nioh because every enemy type has its own unique set of finisher animations for both Jack and the mob, which explains the relatively small bestiary and limited population variety on any given level.

I think people tend not to notice how detailed the character and armour models are in these games compared to the environments.

To be fair, that game isn't even real.

As for Wo Long: Bullshit bosses completely ruined the Nioh Games and I have no doubt this game will be no different. It's just another variation on Nioh. Can't believe Ninja Gaiden is being passed up for this.

Everyone talked shit on Stranger in Paradise as well. It was one of the best action games I've ever played.

I will say this doesn't look like the massive leap from Nioh I was hoping for on the initial reveal. But that's fine with me. Another game similar to Nioh with new combat elements. The demo was hard as balls, but it was fun to finish. Felt like the hardest one yet.

Looks good. I really enjoyed the demo so I'm looking forward to this.
Also it's not Nioh 3, if anything this feels more like their take on Sekiro with no stamina bar and a bigger focus on parrying.

If their games just looked dated it'd be one thing but they are badly optimized too.
Stranger of paradise looks like a Ps3 game at times and it requires a GTX1060 to run at 720p 30fps , on Ps5 to get a locked 60fps you need to run the Ps4 version in performance mode which runs at 720p

I'm not a graphics whore, I don't mind if they visuals on a game are dated. But if it's going to look like a Ps3 era game it should run like Ps3 era game on modern hardware: High resolution + good performance.

I love this 3rd person camera angle/distance. It's directly behind the character and far enough away to see more of the surroundings and makes it easier in combat situations. Perfect!
