Should Resident Evil 5 get a remake next?

Yes, I think it would be a dope idea. Just scrap RE5 and RE6 storylines or at least reimagine them to get rid of the stuff that sucked and only use the stuff that worked. It's another chance to make those games right.

People who like RE5 give it way too much credit anyway. It's a really bad game and so is RE6.
Theres few parts of it that hold up. I can't remember a single memorable sequence in it.

I still have it pretty fresh in my memory since I replayed it just a few months ago. There are some bits in it that are decent enough, mostly the stuff that closely resembled RE4. But yeah, that whole storyline with Matrix-Wesker, boulder punching, and all that shit was just beyond ridiculous. And that "real time inventory management" mentioned in the OP is easily one of the worst inventory systems in video game history, and I don't even think that I'm being hyperbolic.

Nah, it's still pretty good.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming out soon and with that out of the way Capcom could be thinking what's the next big Remake they could do in the franchise.
There's still Code Veronica and Resident Evil (second remake) in the way for other options.

But since they're sticking with the main ones in order, 2, 3, 4...

Should Resident Evil 5 get a remake? If so, what should and should not be changed?

Let's remember a little bit of RE5:
  • It was the big staple for co-op Resident Evil
  • It brought the real time inventory management
  • Story was all over the place and finally turned RE into anime RE
  • Playing Single Player was a pain in the ass with the poor companion AI
  • There was a lot of controversy calling the game racist because you shoot back people
  • It's the best selling RE game
The anime story happened with Code Veronica.

they'd have to make it a sheva only game because you can't show a white person shoot black zombies in africa in 2022

As much as I love RE5 as it is, I would like a remake to deliver the darker atmosphere they originally wanted:

The final game had no crowds this big:

I'd also like the more isolated experience that these trailers promised ie. no co-op with Sheva. These were basically to be Chris vs an African village much like Leon vs a Spanish village. I suspect the inclusion of Sheva, in addition to jumping on the late 2000s co-op bandwagon, was as much for its deflection of retards calling the game racist at the time. Just having Chris gunning down an African village would trigger mass apoplexy in 2023.

the difference with 5 is that it still looks fine because it was a generation that had a good leap compared to 4.

really enjoyed 5 and loved that it has co-op. now 6 is absolute fucking trash

I personally not in to co-op in my survival horror game and its SP is sucks because Shiva's AI is dumb as fuck and just pain in the ass to organize her inventory.

Nah. RE4 didn’t need a remake either. RE5 is already a good looking game and the Remastered version is completely fine. It’s also easily one of the best co-op games of all time. Plus there’s at least a 50/50 chance they’d make Sheva less attractive, and they’d probably change a lot of stuff about the setting and what not.
RE6 could maybe be remade into an actually good game, but that probably wouldn’t even be worth the time.

I’d rather they just make another new game. I’m getting tired of the remakes.
As good as RE2make was, I'm starting to feel they shouldn't have opened this can of worms. RE2 practically was like a completely new mainline game and it was like 20 years since the last remake, so it felt still pretty fresh all around. But now these remakes and remake requests start to feel tiring, RE4make is already redundant. This series is best when its innovating, it's time to move on from remakes in the same engine and design template.

Yes but not as a coop game, coop ruined the series and its literally impossible to make a scary coop game, resident 07 trailer showed so much potential before everyone said it was racist so capcom delayed the game and released a medicore third person shooter, not only that sheva was probably one of the last good designed protagonists but because the game was rushed she has 0 character and capcom have never mentioned her since, people should really look up cut content in re5 there was basically a huge amount of content cut so that capcom could add an african character into the game because of backlash, salesman cut, 20 hours of gameplay cut, more zombies that makes the player run away cut, bigger linear maps cut, the only thing that remains from the OG games is the very start up until you encounter the helicopter crash, the rest capcom made up within 2 years

That game feels very modern still and looks and plays great. Other than low-res textures, there's very little that needs updating.

Yeah the early design documents suggest a completely different game was being made all the way up to 2007. The drastic last minute changes they made prior to release really made it worse off from what could've been.

RE-Re-Remake with insane graphics, 3rd-person perspective + fixed camera angles as an option, day 1 VR that isn't an afterthought, and then, CAPCOM, you have my wallet.

Thats what it should have been to begin with, Chris didn’t really need to be a main character in that game
So Sheva, some random nobody new to the series, should have been the one to find the origins of the T-Virus and take down Wesker by herself?
Get out.

Sure would love a remake of 5. Personally i really liked the game. Not sure why some people hate it.

She wouldn’t be a random nobody, she would be a new lead character in the series like Leon was in part 2 or Ethan was in part 7. It makes more sense for a local agent to uncover the conspiracy than chris flying to another part of the world and punching boulders

Maybe Im remembering wrong but the initial reveal trailer had way more black people in it than the final version.
but a white dude was shooting them , which was a problem for some people
so they added a few brown people to the infected crowd

NO PAIN TRANCE CONTINUE
From written history people of ALL colours have been on mass killing sprees.

Who cares man/woman/children

Use some perspective instead of using re5 as
a vehicle/pretext for a faux righteous moral stand. Noobs.

Yes it would be great as a remake. I would say make Wesker and Jill and that woman with big boobs darker as in like a cult group or something. Wesker would have more talking parts making him look dark and angry. Chris and Sheva need some new clothes to unlock in the game would be cool as well. I would say remove the stupid shooting in the jeep part of the game as it just sucked, it was just too easy. Although beating the giant monster on hard was extremely difficult and me and friends it took over 20 to 30 tries but we finally beat him on hard. Remove the difficult Wesker part where you have to hit him with the ejection stuff in the plane steal area, omg and if you played with AI they were so stupid and always went in the wrong area.

I think it's a steep, still look modernized,
code Veronica worth much more, even outbreak would be a great idea, it's not an add on or a filler series , it has its own special place.

As long as BLM is strong in people's memories, Capcom isn't touching this game.

Resident Evil 1, Veronica ... heck, Capcom would take Dino Crisis over facing a shitstorm by the woke mob if they release a trailer where a white super soldier is headshotting infected black people left and right.
