Lies of P - Exclusive 8K Gameplay Footage on Radeon RX 7900 XTX

It's a shame I can only view this 8K in 1080p because that's what this mobile device is.

I don't know when I'm getting an 8K set but it's not too far off.

Cope. Even apple is going 5k on 27" screens. Steve Jobs knew ppi is what matters.

Don't worry, youll come around when you can afford the tech.

Apple, of all the tech you pick to validate your bullshit, you picked Apple 🤣

Oh for sure they'll give you a reason to sell outrageously priced monitors. Motherfucking Steve Jobs.. wow.

Science doesn't lie. Everyone is using that calculator or similar to build home theaters.

Looks ok but it's almost offensive how much a rip off of Bloodborne this is.
Thats my biggest issue with with some of the "Souls-like", they too one the nose where get their "inspiration" from. At least games like Nioh series still has own aesthetics and mechanics but this way too much for my liking.

it's different for games tho.
the higher the render resolution the higher the clarity. this goes beyond the amount of pixels you can make out.

higher res = less shimmering, less Antialiasing artifacts, higher subjective pixel response time meaning less visible motion blur, and more natural looking distant detail (which happens through a combination of less shimmer, less artifacting and less blur)

you can get most of these benefits from super sampling, but super sampling 8k down to a lower res screen isn't quite as good as running native.

you can not use movies/TV shows as a comparison point when talking about real time 3D graphics rendering.

Oh and "retina" distance, Apple's own trademark for a display so sharp that the human eye is unable to distinguish between pixels, for a 4k 88" TV, you would have to sit at 69" and over for it to become retina.

Consoles barely do native 4k 60 fps, really not the time to push useless junk like 8k.

again, not applicable to gaming. you can see shimmer even tho you don't see the individual pixels.

of course it's overkill currently, but it's something that benefits game graphics/realtime rendering even if you are outside of retina distance

I think people are too harsh on some devs. Dark and Demon's both copied European medieval aesthetics, zombies, dragons, etc, and that are done to death. They put their own flavor into it but let's be honest here they are essentially Dungeon and Dragons, it wasn't really original. Lies of P is putting their own spin on a Bloodborne-like. There are not a lot of original ideas anymore.

Lots of frame drops or shader comp stutter, if it's just frame drops they should have used a resolution/detail level where it's not happening. If it's shader comp stutters ugh.

Looks okay, similar to steelrising. Not sure why there is quite the hype for this game. The lack of feedback from the enemies after being hit doesnt look good to me.

Its not just the setting, the boss they showed in the end, it felt like I was seeing the animation of Darkbeast Paarl but with different model.....god damn.

I’ll definitely give this a whirl if it comes to GP, looks like a fairly solid Soulslike.
Big grain of salt with that. Looks okay, nothing to write home about.
Why the pinch of salt if it only looks OK?

I’m not sure it means what you think it means…

Well Sony has done jack shit with Bloodborne so having a good rip-off on PC is great imo. Until they announce an upgrade for $70 on console only, this is as good as we get. No bitching from me. It's the best Soulsborne to take inspiration from seeing as it's been left for dead on the PS4 for ages.

Already confirmed for Game Pass which leads to some hate the same way Wo Long is getting it even from Nioh fans...

8k tvs are out there, and are the future.

Games are not like movies and shows, they have to be locally rendered by your GPU. And right now current consoles and even the most powerful PC GPUs are struggling with 4K. And much more important things like Ray Tracing and high frame rates are getting in the way.

Sure, it's "the future" since resolution will always get bigger. Maybe in 10 years games will catch up. But i feel like resolution gets increased too fast while other important features are still missing or haven't being fixed since the CRTs went poof. Like how about fixing input lag, view angles and LCD motion blur without hacky methods and janky artifacts, once and for all? And not having to pick your poison when you chose a panel type? That would be a much nicer future IMO. But no, having a big, fat, "8K" label on a TV in the stores will get more normies interested.

I had this for reference, video is 2 months old, might still be in debate mode until it’s officially banned, but I would assume that TV manufacturers are planning around that.

Ah, I see. They are currently on sale and they've been for a while, this law is supposed to ban appliances that use too much energy later this year.

I'm pretty sure companies will find a workaround and we'll have the classic EU magic: bureaucrats in Bruxelles jerking each other off to celebrate how progressive they are while the consumers get fucked with a metal stick.

Yep. And the human eye can't see more than 24 fps. Lmao.

I can easily differentiate between 8K vs 4K tv, I can even start to see pixels/RGB's at around 1 meter away from a 4K TV. People who can't see it just aren't fortunate enough. Now try selling them a 33.2MP (8K), 8.29MP (4K), or 2.1MP (1080p) camera for photography and see how they reveal their true colors.

Every time I see gameplay I'm amazed at how Bloodborne-esque it is. They are wearing their inspiration on their sleeves, but they definitely nailed it where many, many others have tried and failed.

Pinch of salt that it’s actually running that well at native 8k. Honestly I don’t believe it.
