Since the release of The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S , players have been complaining about various technical issues in the re-release even after releasing a few minor fixes. However, the developers are aware of the situation and they are preparing a major update .

Community Manager Marcin Momot stated that CD Projekt RED has been secretly working on a patch for The Witcher 3 and development is in its final stages. The update should be out pretty soon . The team promises to share details as soon as it’s ready and thanks fans for their patience.

as i figured they would, but damn this era of day one release being almost useless and having to wait months perhaps to play without problems, like you bet your shit new big release will be unfinished at launch

Sweet. I was holding off on the game anyways, because I recently got a ps5, and wanted to play through the new God of War first. I didn’t want to play multiple adventure games at once, especially ones who have similar combat, but different button layouts. I wanted to prevent muscle memory confusion. For example, the dodge button is different on each game.

Fuck CDPR. They've been given nothing but patience and screw consumers over and over again.
I'm honestly shocked that this is even a thing (an update and PR asking customers for patience), because the game has run beautifully for me since launch. Have you experienced something different? It also feels genuinely next gen (or current gen, at this point), and is one of the best looking games to be found on modern hardware.

Great, I want to replay the game but I was not happy with the next gen update. I hope this patch will, or make the performance mode look better (indoor locations looks like trash) or to make the RT mode performance better (it plays like trash).

They need to sort out their quality control! I’m so tired of hearing them talk about upcoming patches and thanking fans for the patience. Was the same thing with CP2077.
How can they not see the issues their games have until people start complaining? I have a Ryzen 9 7900x + 4090 and Novigrad was a stutter fest when the nextgen patch came. I closed the game after 5 minutes and haven’t bothered looking if they’ve updated it, I’ll try again when DF Alex starts smiling when talking about the game instead of just crying.

B-b-but it's free.

I'm about 8 hours into a new playthrough on XSX and the only issue I've encountered thus far is that the game bugged out during a cutscene and shut down my console unexpectedly. It happened once but besides that it's been smooth sailing.

Playing on the PS5 and the movement is still STILL floaty as shit. I’ve tried fuckin with the settings and it’s annoying the crap out of me. I got used to it on the PS4, but I thought maybe, finally they’d fix it so he doesn’t glide off like a Disney princess at the slightest touch of the joystick. For some weird reason it feels better on the Xbox, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking

I'd like a quality mode with RT but where they push resolution down to 1080p. The forests in the game look insane with RT on.

Cool. Can they also drop the patch on Switch so I can upload my saves and play on Steam? I don’t want to do that fucking Baron quest a 10th time.
Huh? I could swear that one of the selling points of the Switch version was that you could somehow transfer saves. Or did i make that just up?

This version of the game is great but I can't believe the game still has broken quests. Was doing one of the early quest in the game and was a little unprepared (hardest difficulty) so I left did the baron quest. Came back to a broken quest. Had to restart like 4-5 hours of gameplay.

The only advise I got from people was "you gotta have multiple saves". It shouldn't be like this for such a high regarded game

No, I'm just not a crazy person going full-on nutty hyperbole about a free patch to a free update. You do you though.
You're just being obnoxious with comments like that out of some misplaced idea that because it's "free' people have no right to complain. It may be "free" but it still comes with a cost now doesn't it. People still paid for the game and may be dealing with major performance issues introduced by this update.

No need to be a pedantic pain in the ass. You're complaining about people complaining ....in a thread about a patch meant to fix bad performance

Nope, I was just telling the truth that it's ridiculous to spout that much hyperbole about a free patch. Complain all you want, sure, but his response went beyond that to unhinged territory. Sorry if pointing that out offends you.

Also, if you wonder why people view these types of communities as immature or even toxic, it's because of comments like what I was responding to. That's not complaining, that's insanity. There's a difference.

The game can be played without these issues if launched in Dx11 mode.

Biggest issues for me so far:

-Constant stuttering when auto-saving or accepting/ completing quests. The original game didn't have that issue on HDDs, I'd expect a fast modern ssd shouldn't stutter like that.

-There's a really annoying bug where the camera constantly focuses and de-focuses on the characters during dialogue trees. Honestly, that's the worst issue for me, too distracting to focus on the actual game.

-Novigrad performance is mediocre, but I don't really expect a fix here. Not terrible on the 60fps mode, but it could use a few improvements.

-The less is said about the RT mode on PS5 the better, it's a mess on too many levels. From performance, to visual artifacts and wrong lighting, you name it. It needs an overhaul to be even worth considering.

-The SSAO without RT is really poor, which is odd considering the game had HBAO way back then so they essentially have downgraded it. Not sure if it's intentional or a bug.

The sense of entitlement tends to be a bit out of whack at times. It was a free update. Dx11 mode seems to not have the majority of bugs that Dx12 mode does. The old version can still be installed if anyone wants. I don't get the bitching and toxicity from these people.

I guess it's fair to say that gamers are tired of being bug testers but the update was free. If anyone just bought the game for the next gen update, play in Dx11. All the new content is there minus ray tracing and HDR.
