CD Projekt RED is preparing a major update for the next-gen version of The Witcher 3

The sense of entitlement tends to be a bit out of whack at times. It was a free update. Dx11 mode seems to not have the majority of bugs that Dx12 mode does. The old version can still be installed if anyone wants. I don't get the bitching and toxicity from these people.

I guess it's fair to say that gamers are tired of being bug testers but the update was free. If anyone just bought the game for the next gen update, play in Dx11. All the new content is there minus ray tracing and HDR.

There is not much logic in that, we are talking about costumers here. If Windows or any other software releases updates for free, you are still entitled to equal or better functionality without being bothered to perform investigations in the internet on how to make your stuff work as before... and it's not as simple as enabling dx11, they removed the excellent Hbao+ and who knows what else.

Ps.- I think this patch is dirty and some money was sent to push Nvidia's 4000 series sales.

Huh? I could swear that one of the selling points of the Switch version was that you could somehow transfer saves. Or did i make that just up?
You can but because it’s stuck at version 3.60 the cloud saves with Steam don’t work at the moment.

Exactly. And I wasn't suggesting people can't complain or have opinions, I'm specifically reacting and responding to this almost sociopathic behavior and responses. I'm a bit disappointed myself with the next-gen release and have been waiting for this patch for PC to continue playing, but some of this is just burn-the-world style insanity directed at these studios and it's quite frankly ridiculous.

No, I'm just not a crazy person going full-on nutty hyperbole about a free patch to a free update. You do you though.

Nope, I was just telling the truth that it's ridiculous to spout that much hyperbole about a free patch. Complain all you want, sure, but his response went beyond that to unhinged territory. Sorry if pointing that out offends you.

Also, if you wonder why people view these types of communities as immature or even toxic, it's because of comments like what I was responding to. That's not complaining, that's insanity. There's a difference.

Lmao, the delusions are real.

In the span of like 3-4 posts you yourself have resorted to using more hyperbole, ad hominems, etc. than I did.

But let me guess, that isn't immature because...

But, you've made it obvious you aren't concerned about expounding upon why exactly releasing a broken patch is okay, so there's not really anything else to say.

There is always an expected amount of support through fixes and updates with any software. If you paid for a previous copy of The Witcher 3 you are entitled to a working version of the game you've been playing. If this update is causing you issues then go back to the version you paid for and wait until stuff gets fixed in the version you were given for free. I understand being frustrated that the new version isn't playable for people, I'm one of them. Though I'm not on the internet screaming about how I've been screwed over or what CDPR owes me with this update or that they are in Nvidia's pocket. I have 3 choices with this game right now; go back to the previous version pre-nextgen, play in dx11 mode, or just wait until dx12 gets fixed.

This wasn't a patch it was a free upgrade to a new version of the game with added content and a complete overhaul of the graphics/textures. If this upgrade isn't working for you then go back to the previous version until it is.

You do that then, it should not bother you that people express their already demonstrated justified complains.

They need to sort out their quality control! I’m so tired of hearing them talk about upcoming patches and thanking fans for the patience. Was the same thing with CP2077.
How can they not see the issues their games have until people start complaining? I have a Ryzen 9 7900x + 4090 and Novigrad was a stutter fest when the nextgen patch came. I closed the game after 5 minutes and haven’t bothered looking if they’ve updated it, I’ll try again when DF Alex starts smiling when talking about the game instead of just crying.
HFW had like 20 patches in 6 months. Didnt see the same energy then and calling for QA at Guerilla.

I stopped playing HFW because of Elden Ring, what did they change? Either way it wasn’t as bad as TW3 nextgen patch on PC.

as i figured they would, but damn this era of day one release being almost useless and having to wait months perhaps to play without problems, like you bet your shit new big release will be unfinished at launch
Calling a 100 hour game that's already had 7 years worth of patches useless is a little silly

Patch is unplayable. Got a 3080 can't even get a steady 60 fps with RT on and DLSS on performance, it barely sist at 30+. Which is the only point of even playing this patch to start with.

I would be more in favor if they just remove it and get the original 1.32 back. Also no choice between classic and next gen when booting up the game is also a joke and now having to deal with some shitty launcher nobody asked for.

Proofs again how incompetent CDPR really is.

Game doesnt even run at a stable 30

I would also live a 40 FPS mode, but it aint happening

Yet again, CDPR launched a broken game on holidays season to get appease investors and not they are working on the actual finished product

The game was released in 2015 and it ran perfectly on consoles and pc. I do understand what you are saying but let's be gentle with CDPR. It is a free update and they are fixing it.

The game did not run perfectly back on the original release that. It did have a lot of performance issues, specially in the bog and Novigrad. I remember well because I was there at launch. I went through a good piece of the game at 30 fps because my PC couldn't do better and although I never played it on console, I know there were a lot of issues that were fixed later on.

That said I agree with you, no reason to get upset about a freebie specially if they are fixing it.

I hope they fix the bizarre movement lag when you stop walking to loot or do something else and then want to continue walking and it takes a solid full second for geralt to take off again. It's the worst movement I've ever experienced in a videogame, ever. It makes the inertia and momentum driven movement in RDR2 and other Rockstar games feel like butter. Please someone tell me that's just caused by the patch and not how the game always was. I've only ever played since this latest version.

It's a bug, I don't remember it happening in the OG version.

I wonder if the console update is using a similar type of tech to dlss frame generation? On pc it made a 20-30 fps difference for me

People reporting all over that DX12 performance is noticeably worse on PC with this patch. Visual glitches, smeared textures.

lol

Here is working as it should. Although it does have some shader compilation stutters during the first few minutes of play. But after that, it runs smoothly.

Those visual glitches could be due to invalid compiled shaders. Better delete the shader cache.

Fair point, its almost certainly overkill but when major patched like this come out I usually just delete the game and install from scratch.

Are they gonna fix those frame pacing issues with RT on on PS5?

Also, I'd love to see them "fix" the laggy interaction-ability of Geralt. There's often this weird thing where the interaction won't appear until you're absolute stationary, but you think you don't stand at the right angle, so you move again, Geralt takes like half a second and THERE you see the button prompt for a split second, try to press it but unfortunately Geralt moved and the prompt disappeared. Now you think again you're not standing correctly and "the cycle" begins anew until you're standing correctly AND be patient. I'd hoped they improved the responsivness of the controls.

I'm not hopeful (or I should rather say: I don't really care) as game works beautifully for me since the release of 4.0. But if they're working on a major patch, it's won't be 4.01 or 4.02 but 4.1. Just common sense.

Havent tested it myself since I have no desire to replay it right now, even if it is one of my fav games of all time but I'm tired of CDPR's shenanigans with their lies and expectations. Just tell people, a patch is coming to fix some stuff and thats it. I dobut theres ever going to be anything major about it, its not a new game. They just have to fix the stutters people are complaining about.
