PS5 is in the perfect storm right now (Increased supply , God of War:R , The Last Of Us Show & Hogwarts Legacy )

The only thing in it's way for the next few months is Metroid Prime Remastered & Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom .

Hogwarts Legacy releasing on current gen first most likely shift more people into the current generation than anything else that has happened in the last 2 years & it look like PS5 can ride this wave throughout the next few months.

Holy shit the fanboyism.

"The only thing in its way". What does that even mean? The only thing preventing PS5's success are great games on other platforms lol? What do you get if Sony "wins"?

This isn't some sporting event where you have a home team battling it out against other teams for the championship.

What a pathetic display.

Psvr2 is a niche toy. That's another $500 for people to spend money on. It's not needed to enjoy PS5 so you can't really say it will benefit PS. I think releasing the console this yr without the disc would be much more beneficial to PS
People will be talking about PS because of it though and that is priceless marketing.

Also PSVR2 only costs $500 and means you don't have to buy a niche $1500 TV so you just saved $1000.

You do know Hogwarts Legacy is multiplatform, right?

PS5 is a great console. God of War Ragnarok was fun, and more supply is awesome. FF16 this summer and Spider-Man 2 this fall will be fun too. Also enjoying High on Life and Hi-Fi Rush on my Xbox, and looking forward to Redfall, Starfield and Forza later this year and glad they have increased supply too.

I am riding all the perfect storms that I can!

What do I win folks???

They're relaunching PS5 without the need of a Pro version.

This is the chance for MS to play the victim again and get Activision with CoD.

Haven't even thought of PlayStation being in trouble, but since you put it that way, I also think they will be fine for the next couple of months...

Totally, OP. I agree that Metroid Prime Remaster + Zelda TotK are the only things that are impacting my sense of identity and self worth as a PlayStation fanboy.
Huh?

I'm saying these 1st few months are calm & these are the only 2 games that disrupt the way things are going now with PS5 being able to just ride this out with God of War:R, Last Of Us success & Hogwarts Legacy.

I think PS5 benefits greatly from increased supply. The other day I meandered into a Best Buy to grab a discounted Lego set and saw PS5 in stock ready to buy for the first time ever. It hit me as quite an important milestone, it's only 2023.

I'm getting more and more excited for PS VR2 every day, I'll probably get motion sick immediately when I try it but thats just an excuse to blaze a fat one so I can't fail!
I can recommend having a fan in front of you and chewing ginger gum or just ginger chews. Helps a lot in preventing it as you get your VR legs.

How is it the "Perfect storm"? GoW:R is insanely disappointing, Last of Us has been an overhyped shallow joke ever since it released back on the PS3, most of its first party exclusives have been ports, remakes, or disappointing shallow sequels that completely missed hte point on what made the franchises so great. The few great exclusives they have had can be played elsewhere now (Returnal, for example).

Hogwarts Legacy is a multiplatform release and has nothing that makes you *need* to play it on PS5, except one single side quest that was utterly forgettable.

I am still waiting for a good reason to have bought this damned console that isn't to play PS4 games from when the Company still was HQ'd back in Japan.

Really the only thing that PS5 has over others is that it has the PSVR2, which from previews genuinely looks great - but most of its games are mediocre tech demos (Horizon) or ports from PSVR1 or other VR systems. The former having you rebuy games if you already bought them on PSVR1.

Don‘t know if serious or sarcastic. Either way, that‘s not something supposed to be celebrated, that‘s how things should be from the start. I wonder why the scalpers gave up, if they were to continue their business model (and some groups certainly made a living off it) we wouldn‘t get a PS5 in store no matter how much Sony increases their production.

Hey did you forget the $200 controller that almost indistinguishable from the normal controller? Just got my refund email.

I feel like this thread has potential for the next weekly GAF in-meme, but it's not quite there yet. Quick, someone post something extreme on either side. Light That fire.

Uhh

TotK looks like an expansion pack.

There, I've broken the pool cue, fight to the death, winner dies

Yea, not a fan of that either. But honestly that is an issue across the board with gaming consoles. Controllers so bloated with pointless crap that it inflates the price. When the vast majority of games don't use those features and the few that *do* don't add anything very much to the experience? Just get rid of it. It sucked for Sixaxis on PS3, it sucked with the touch pad on PS4, just stop.

It's just a box. If this box doesn't have the games I like, I'll play on the other boxes. Some of y'all are weird. It makes me wonder how you live your actual life in the real world.

That literally means nothing. Try again, mate.

I used to own every box. Sold the Series X and got a Steam Deck instead (already have a powerful PC to play all Xbox Exclusives anyhow).

Doesn't change the fact that when you buy a high end new console, you should have high quality exclusives for it. Both the Xbox and Playstation have failed utterly in that regard. Switch is reaching the end of its life span and I don't see Nintendo bringing great launch titles either. Unless they have something amazing in the works.

It has been two years since these new systems released. We should expect more, not be happy with mediocrity.
