might drop a little bet on Gane beating Jones. Gane is a beast and Jon has never fought at HW and hasn't fought in years. Surprised he's favored here.

Been a while since I've genuinely been excited for a UFC bout. It's gonna be interesting to see how Jones will do after such a long break and in HW.
I'm leaning more on Gane winning this one.

I got Gane, Shevchenko, Rakhmonov.
I think the smart thing for Gane is to attack Jones legs, he hasn't had to deal with Heavyweight power or an Elite kickboxer choping his legs down.
If it goes the Distance I have it for Gane, otherwise Jones by submission. I don't see Gane making the same mistake as with Francis.

Shevchenko by KO on the third. I don't think Grasso is nowhere near her level.

Rakhmonov by submission. Never bet against these "name your country and add -Stan" people.

I have gane, shev (but i root for my girl grasso) and rakmanov.

People who think that jones is gonna ragdoll gane are in for a rude, RUDE awakening, dude wasn't capable to ragdoll skinny gustafsson, one legged santos and the athlete, and was outstruck by the latter who just showed in his past fights that he wasn't that good to begin with, the ufc countdown showing ONLY footage from 10 years ago is extremely telling while gane is basically undefeated (he should have won against ngannou who did nothing on the 5th round) and he doesn't have to fear the power of jones like he did with tuivasa, lewis and ngannou, jones can't only beat his wife with punches, nobody else.

Sheva is gonna have some problems with grasso's boxe and heart so she is probably gonna wrestlefuck her like the female goat that she is...

Neal is dangerous on the feet but i can see rakmanov playing at range and just shooting a takedown and submit him.

Hopefully dricus is gonna retire fucking bronson and bo nickael should have an easy win against pickett.

Heavyweight tends to be a game that favours whoever makes the fewest mistakes.

But that's particularly due to the consequences of getting caught on the feet, so I suspect Jones will lean on his wrestling which is where I think he has a definite skill and experience advantage over Gane.

It would be the best outcome for the sport if John Jones went out there and demolished Gane.
?
Let the young athlete be crowned champion?
Nah; better allow the proven cheater won after 3 years of doing nothing.
Jokes aside, why would Jones victory be better? He is older, and tainted by his life outside the octagon. Better to go fresh with Gane, who at least fought with Ngannou?

Gane is 32

I’m confident Jones will no longer piss hot as he used to, though I was hoping Francis would be his opponent instead. Ngannou punches harder than anybody in heavyweight and has that aura about him, like this dude can do some serious damage if a single shot lands.

The funny thing about Bones is that he’s failed multiple drug tests lol. It’s not a case of him taking a banned substance by mistake and getting caught out. We could forgive him that, but failing 3-4 USADA tests is comical. GSP‘s the GOAT in my humble opinion.

Nobody gives a shit about Gane, Jones is one of the all-time greats, if not the one and true GOAT. It would be a massive story if he won, and it would set up a lot of fights.

As far as the fight itself, when Jones became more of a striker way back when, he put himself on a path for problems. But Gane is the sort of guy who lacks consistent output, Jones might be able to work with that.

This is why I found it weird. Jones is a GOAT candidate. So Gane victory would be the massive story. And create a new champ with a lot of credibility, needed after Ngannou departure. If Jones win, it will not have the same impact in my opinion, between the "it was obvious" and the "the true champ is Ngannou, he should have returned for him last year". I am for Gane, but will not be upset if Jones won. But it will not be better for the sport if Jones win, unless his victory is needed for him to stay. That would be a different story of course.

And who are you, the nice manners police?

This is the fight business.
I gives 2 fucks about controversy, gane is just a more fun fighter to watch, jones in the past 3 fight looked like dog shit dude (and against people that we discovered being semi-bums), gane vs tuivasa was a better match than all the past 4 fights of jones combined.

If you measure your passion for the sport based on how much of a cunt jones is, then good for you, he is nowhere near the exciting fighter that he was in the past.

if jones gets the W

I remember reading Jon's USADA suspensions wouldn't have happened under today's current USADA rules:

Just a reminder that usada is a private agency PAYED by the ufc, they are not regulared by anyone other than themselves, they are just smoothing the rough edges in case jones wins the championship so they can say he is the best without putting 24 asterisk close to his name, uncle dana know his shit.

Who knows what to expect from Jones, he might be nothing as he used to be, whether or not Gane surges would be based on how he beat Jones. But even then, Gane does not have the personality to become a star, he has some great fights and some terrible fights, and I can't see him ever becoming bigger than someone like Stipe, who the UFC struggled with, even if he is exciting to watch.

If Jones wins, it's all gonna be big fights onward. If Gane wins, he's gonna get a Jones rematch, and ride on the hype wave a bit, but after 3-4 fights, he's not gonna have that wave to ride.

Gane needs Jones to be a star, Jones does not need Gane.

Thats why it is better for the sport if Gane win, right? Jones does not fight for the champ title anymore, but the GOAT status. If Jones win, it will not be a plus for the heavyweight division, but him alone and I can see him be like GSP did and go away with the belt and use it for negociations with the UFC. Gane is what a new champion is in most cases I think. He will have to use his victories to be recognisable and that is exiting too. We can't always have fighters like Khabib in all categories.

Boy i really want to see jones or gane against aspinal, that dude is a future champ amd trouble for everyone after he wrestlefucked and submitted volkov in like one round, the best wrestler in the division was not able to do that for 5 rounds.

And the dude has fast and heavy hands (and he is like 6.5 feet)

I think people are underestimating how hard Cyril Gane hit with his kicks.
Look at what he did to Tuivasa who has a lot of padding on him.

Two can play the same game. If Gane goes for the same oblique kicks and elbows.
Bones are going to break.

Jones goes out there and wins convincingly and you get a star goat status fighter with the HW title, breathing life to the division and opening up a narrative for the UFC to bring back Ngannou.

If Gane wins Jones era is over, and he already lost against Ngannou. The current status quo is maintained, and UFC continues on its Star lacking slump. As far as media attention goes and casual audience, it’s the worst out come.

It doesn’t mean it’s bad, but it is what it is.

The inverse could be interesting too. Gane wins convincingly like Poirier did against Mcgregor and it helps the HW division too. But yes if Jones destroys Gane it will be easy to market a "return of the king" and go from there, be it Ngannou or others HW with Jones defending his title. I am not sure that he will. I think that he will like GSP go away if he wins. Too risky otherwise.

Better for the sport, maybe, better for the UFC, no.

The heavyweight division is absolute trash, and without Ngannou, a lot of the air went out of the balloon. Jones is there to get some attention back to it.

The heavyweight division is gonna be bigger with Jones as a champ.

Everything points towards Gane but I simply can't go against Jones. For me the clear MMA GOAT and the favorite in every fight until someone manages to beat him.

Shevchenko looks like she might be slowing down but I don't think Grasso is the one to get it done.

Rakhmonov beats Neal and is probably a future champ.

If he is active like Adesania was, yes. But I do not think that it will happen if he wins. I see him more like GSP vs Bisping, a last fight for the glory against a doable opponent. Hope that he will be hungry for more if he wins against Gane.

If gane starts kicking those flyweight calfs of jones, dude is gonna be in for a long night, nobody even tried to kick jones except one legged santos and that was enough to discourage jones a lot, and gane is arguably bigger and stronger than santos (who fought at middleweight).

And gane has some thunderous leg kicks, ask to lewis.

He was arguably beated 3 times already by santos, reyes and gustafsson, those were paper thin wins that could have gone otherwise very easily.

Not sure how the heavyweight division is thrash now when we have some of the best talents ever between gane, aspinal, pavlovich and upcomers like almeida.

It's trash only if you don't care about skills tbh.

Arguably, but at the end of the day Jones has always come out on top.

Everyone with a fight resume similar to him has actual losses while "decision that could've gone the other way" is the closest anyone has come to beating Jones.

I don't think he's a clear favorite or anything. Like I said Gane is probably the obvious choice, but until someone actually beats Jones I'd always bet on him.

Not really. Gust was close but it got worse and worse for him as the fight went to the later rounds. It’s debatable sure. Bones destroyed him in the rematch fight though.

Santos and Ryes were on their bikes, neither deserved to win.

And I gotta agree with Jones I mean, how excited could he have been for those guys?

That was a lame excuse, you don't risk to lose a fight because you are bored, not at that level of competition when you get millions for being the champ, cmon.

Not sure what do you mean with santos and reyes being on their bikes...sants had a judge scoring the fight for him and mahority of people think that reyes won that night, same for gustafsson, you can absolutely give the first 3 round to him and nbody would have said nothing.

Not khabib, no fight with him involved was ever particularly close.

The "closest" fight with him wans against tibau and he still clearly won all the rounds.

Jones wasn't able to finish a one legged man and a fucking bum like smith that was already defeated before the match even started (his words).

My money is on Jon. He hasn't had a standout performance in a long time and I don't think that really means anything here. Probably will take him a bit to get going, but he'll cruise to a decision. I don't think he's finishing Game.

People are overthinking the move to HW. There were stories out there for years of him fucking up heavyweights in the gym over at Jackson's.
