What game are you currently playing?

I just finished playing God of War (2018). Was sitting in my backlog for way too long. Great game. Hated Atreus. Was begging Kratos to pull a Calliope on him.
Can't decide what to play next. My son got me Fire Emblem 3 Houses for my birthday a couple years ago and I never played it. I feel bad because he goes to college half way across the country and asks me if I played it yet every time I see him... which is only like 2 or 3 times a year. Leaning toward finally jumping in to that one.

...Which is the best: Tactics Ogre, Live a Live or Octopath 2?
The Octopath games are some of the most beautiful games (and art in general) in the history of gaming, imho. And though the gameplay is really fun, really solid, I'm still playing Tactics Ogre (PSP) regularly throughout the year for years and years thus far. Actually just now taking a slight break from PotD.

I would say as far as game investments go, nothing has given me the returns Tactics Ogre has (except maybe the original DotA on WC3: TFT, which gave me 13 years daily before I finally said a sharp farewell).

That's what I've been reading about it, a lot of people saying the same thing.

Looks like my SRPG needs are going to be satisfied for some time.

Downloaded Valorant, again. I played it for a while before and liked it but got overwhelmed. Going to give it another shot.

Also, downloading Sekiro again. It's definitely my favourite From Software game after Bloodborne but since I can't play that :messenger_unamused: then it has to be Sekiro. I did think about replaying Elden Ring but I can't bring myself to do it. I'll wait for the expansion before returning to it.

I recently had an urge to play C&C Generals again; since I never actually paid for it, I thought the hundreds of hours of fun we had playing LAN with friends two decades ago were well worth buying the Ultimate Collection on Origin.
Currently only playing Generals (with the Rise of the Reds mod - try it, it's great), but the collection includes all Command & Conquer games (1-2-3-4 with expacks + Renegade) and Red Alert games (1-2-3 + expacks) so that gives me a lot to do...

Risen 1 on PC

It’s my first Piranha Bytes game. The game started off incredibly difficult, but then I found the second best sword in the game really early on while exploring. Dumped some stats into strength/sword fighting to wield it and the game instantly became super easy.

I liked the first Risen, although I can't imagine playing it now. It's maybe a 6 or 7.

I just finished Miles Morales on New Game+. Good fun. 9/10.

I don't know why, but I fancied another run at Skyrim. I forgot how good the game was. Yeah, the combat is like having a pillow fight, but the world is just so engrossing.

I've already had a three way with a dragon and a giant. What other game can let you do that?

Honestly, it holds up, albeit in a janky way. It's refreshing to play an open-world RPG with a smallish map (only one town!), relatively few NPCs, and generally no attempt to hold your hand (especially in the beginning). My first 15 hours or so were pretty tense, but once I got that sword, I started annihilating everything. It feels sort of cheap but at the same time, the game absolutely rewards you for exploring and beating difficult areas early on, and not too many games do that these days.

Clock Tower: The First Fear
Really short but sweet point and click horror game. The scissor man is really creepy. The setting and atmosphere were great. Looking forward to playing the other games in the series. Apparently there's quite a lot of endings so I might play it again and see if I can get another outcome. I got ending 'B'.

I’m still play Octopath 2, I think I did 3rd chapter for all the characters, I absolutely loving this game.

I’m also playing Tower of Doom DLC for Mario + Rabbits 2, also really fun since I liked combat in that game.

Did the game's lack of difficulty affect your enjoyment of it? Thinking of getting it on sale for $30 now on eshop

Finished Metroid Dread. This game is so good. Top quality stuff and a worthy addition to the Metroid saga. It's 2D perfection much of the likes of Super Metroid. It has all the hall marks of the franchise. Clever level design. Cool boss encounters. Oppressive atmosphere. Fast paced exploration. Power ups. The whole nine yards. I've been on a solid Metroid romp now with Dread and MP remastered and I want MOAR!

Yup and it controls so damn nicely

No, your equipment is more important than your overall level, with good strategy and good equipment you can go level 40 dungeon even your party is level 20. You also option to ignore all of that and grind level to power through the game….your choice how you want to play the game.

Did two playthroughs with Jill in Resident Evil remake and now I'm onto Chris. I actually haven't played much with Chris campaign, only a few times, so this almost feels like new. It's much more cumbersome and difficult with Chris, given he has less inventory space and it takes a while to get the shotgun. But his story is more fun I think. Excited to play further because I have forgotten so much about this campaign.

Felt like I hadn't touched my Switch in years so bought a couple of games been meaning to play, Kirby Forgotten Lands, Metroid Prime and Super Mario 3D world. Started Kirby and man it's a blast, playing with a constant smile on my face.
Also been playing Man of Medan together with the girlfriend. Pretty fun although not as good as Until Dawn. Its shorter length does mean we are replaying it to see what different outcomes we can get which is pretty cool. Never did that with Until Dawn. The facial animations are crazy bad though.

I just bought Rage 2 after randomly seeing some gameplay. I noticed this game came out a few years ago, but the player mechanics look similar to Atomic Heart. The only thing that shows Atomic Heart came out 3 years later are the graphics. They even have the same mechanic of holding your hand out to gather resources.

I must be late to the party. I dont know how I missed this hidden gem, because its like a mix of Doom, Fallout and Mad Max.... with a little bit of Bioshock. Open world, post apocalyptic FPS with tight controls and fun gameplay. There are some technical issues(made by Bethesda) on the ps5, but its still a fun game.

Rage 2 is awesome. Aside from a beefy shotgun, that leaping ground pound move is *chef’s kiss*. And you can upgrade it to pull enemies in like a magnet as you perform it. Has to be one of the most satisfying moves in a FPS.

It’s sad that all of the focus was on the “bland” overworld, while the combat was well above average.

Just rolled credits on Kingdom Hearts. Still going back to 100% everything and max out my characters. The story is dumb and cringe, filled with weird, convoluted writing and bizarre plot points that are either redundant or seemingly pointless. I seriously have no idea what drugs the writers were on. Outside of the childishness of the characters and the silly story, it's a really good RPG and I'm glad I picked it up on sale. I can't say I'm looking super forward to KH2 as I didn't really like that game back in the day. I have zero plans on playing any of the other games that came in the KH 1.5 + 2.5 bundle, but we'll see. Perhaps KH2 will hit different this time around

Besides Triangle Strategy (savoring it), I've been playing Anno 2070. Bought it from Steam sale and it has thoroughly surprised me how great it is. It an improved version of 1404 with far better UI and deeper (also literally) gameplay. Pretty complex system. While 1800 is a masterpiece, it can also get really, really confusing and hard at end game, thanks to many DLCs (which are really good tho). As such 2070 feels cleaner. Such a great game.

Been trying to wean myself off MW2 so I've been playing Dead Space remake and a few matches on Halo Infinite. I can feel the urge to do my dailies drawing me back to Cod though.

Capcom eased up his campaign by a lot compared to the Original, where it used to be much harder than the one from Jill.

I'm up to Chapter 4 of the Impossible run in Dead Space Remake. Once I finish this the platinum is complete. Also playing Moss on PSVR2.

Rollerdrome was love at first sight and am still googly-eyed after the honeymoon. Feels amazing just flowing from trick to headshot to trick again. Also appreciate the Assist options for fine-tuning the enemy parameters to suit your skill level. When enabled your scores aren't submitted to leaderboards but perfect for learning the game without sacrificing style.

Wish i had something that had me engaged at the moment. So nothing - just whatever peaks my interest in short bursts atm.
Most recently Gran Turimso

I’m the only person alive who opened the NSO GBA app and immediately started Kuru Kuru Kururin. Pretty decent game actually, under the radar, fun and, and short - perfect type of game for the service.

Also knocked out Warioware, similar in length and a great pick up and play game. Since I won’t be able to play Metroid Prime Remastered for another week or so I’ll stick with another NSO, probably Minish Cap or something like it.

Down in the caverns with Chris Redfield in RE remake. I just blew a Hunters head off. That's the first time I've seen that, and I've played this game multiple times. I stabbed him first with a defense dagger (after he grabbed me) and when I shot him his head exploded. Btw, I love gory headshots in Resident Evil. Capcom has toned it down in their newer releases such as 7 and Village, but old school RE still packs that lovely punch (to the head).

Got it when it came out, played the ever lovin' heck out of it, but it's been over 10 years now (can't believe it). Got inspired to throw it (KH Dream Drop Distance) back into my 3DS.

Such a great, little game. I still can't help getting a thrill out of how much some companies were putting into these little handheld games. And this is probably one of my favorite KH games gameplay-wise. Love all the little action extras and how they explain them, and how easy they make it to go back, and not only read the tutorials, but play through them. The FlowMotion combat is so fun. It almost makes the game feel like a shooter or Ninja Gaiden at times. Gives you that sense of chaos without really getting difficult. And I needed something breezy right now. KH has always been comfort food. Very comforting to play again.
