It kinda sucks that we arent getting this crazy John Wick style combat in this game. It's where they've taken the CG series (which is cannon btw) so clearly thats the kind of action they want from the games but for whatever reason, they feel reluctant to go full John Wick.

That movie is the problem when Capcom goes full on action RE, mindless shooting and backflips but not taking in consideration the surroundings, the plot or anything else for that matter, that movie is stupid, all the characters cause more harm and damage than any horde of zombies could ever do, the highway sequence is crazy, to kill a bunch of zombie dogs o whatever, Leon decides the best course of action is to spam grenades at cars driving next to him and blow the f*ck out of them, also when they get a Rail-Gun in the chopper and start shooting down entire buildings, literally

I don't replay demos often, but something about this one keeps me coming back to it each night. It reminds me of the excellent Beginning Hour demo, a nice, replayable little morsel of survival horror. Loving the improved AI and more intense atmosphere. Day 0.

The fact that we're getting a fucking RE4 remake like a month after Prime Remastered is just surreal to me.
Well, the demo *does* contain one of the best enemy encounter in an action game in the history of gaming, so ...

Where's the proof? It was enabled by modder 'praydog' who also got DLSS, FSR2 and XeSS working in all other RE Engine games. There may be commonalities between these games that made it easy, and there are certainly commonalities between the data FSR2 needs and the data DLSS needs. Also I tried the DLSS option in RE4 before and it's clearly not properly implemented given that the jitter is visible in the game.

After playing the demo a few more times, I'm bothered by the random elements to the village scene involving the chainsaw guy. Resident Evil games always had a strong relationship with the concept of predictability. It was about letting the player learn and optimise their run. I've had the chainsaw guy randomly appear in a house that I run into while being chased by the horde, and I've had the scene where the chainsaw guy destroys my escape route in a cutscene. Both put you in a kind of bullshit situation. The original game had a more tight design.

Also, Mad Chainsaw mode... come on guys, this is stupid. You'd need to have an actual learning disability to think it's worthwhile to use your free time to randomly enable this insane difficulty mode where you instantly die if you don't manipulate the enemy AI in some wacky way.

I was going to pass on this and wait for a sale, but the damn demo actually got me excited for it. Enjoyed the gameplay, game looks gorgeous. Feeling strong Evil Within vibes from the new stealth takedowns and stuff... Hopefully the story doesn't go off the rails as it did in the original.

I thought RE7 and RE2make were a great return to the OG formula but its 2023 now and its time to move on and reinvent the wheel. The game already has a huge focus on melee. I was just watching this youtuber pick up zombies from behind and throw them on the ground and it reminded of the Chris takedowns in the vid above. Shouldve gone all in on melee just like TLOU2 did. Let me grab the zombies, and use THEM as a shield. Let me blow their brains out while i have them as a hostage like Ellie does. Abby has some sick fucking melee kills when you activate her momentum skills. I know its heresy to even say this but RE shouldve borrowed some stuff from TLOU2. The dodges in the video above reminded me a lot of the pre-downgrade TLOU2 gameplay. Just slick as fuck.

RE6 tried that and it sucked.

Actually the gameplay was kinda fun. I wouldn't be against a new game like that, but the remake of RE4 isn't the place to do that.

Fuck. NO. The huperbolic Michael Bay action extravaganza bullshit was what almost killed the IP. You want slick, go play Devil May Cry. Or the Last of Cucks, I don't care.

RE is doing GREAT, and the last thing it needs is almost all that crap above.

Played the demo again on pc. First time I got 2 or 3 micro stutters, none this time. I bought a pretty good cooler fan for my laptop which really works and it might have improved the performance.
I play with a DS4 and the deadzone is almost inexistent. It looks amazing without even playing with all the highest specs. Amazing port.

Yeah pc is killing consoles on this classic. I'll double dip.

Capcom coming through with their commitment to PC. Praises due.

Mad Chainsaw Mode broke me last night. It's awful (in a good way). My nerves were in shreds afterwards. (in a good way). :messenger_winking_tongue:

I'm definitely not good enough with a controller to do mad chainsaw mode.

I imagine if I persisted with it I'd do it but it's 8/10 difficult!

Overall I really liked the demo. They really improved the game on most points. Controls, combat and obviously presentation.

I think the game release is going to be a success as the demo was really enjoyable and this is what matters the most.

I have yet to be able to trigger the second salvador that people say is inside the house opposite of the shotgun house.
It's kinda tough. Go first to the door that is ahead from the tower, then it triggers the first Salvador. Kill him and go to the house that has the shotgun, than the cutscene triggers and comes another Salvador. Double the pesetas, man

I still have to play the demo, are there any settings to change on pc to have better aim with a controller? Aim acceleration and all that stuff...

This is the first ever 3rd person RE game where I'll play on keyboard/mouse. It feels like it's been made for it over a controller. It's nice to have the precision of a mouse when popping domes.

The ps4 and ps4pro versions look comparable to the ps5 version from the videos I've currently watching.

I bet the release version on the ps5 will look much better.

I can't wait for the digital foundry content between all the versions as they seem pretty demanding once rt, hair and other "next-gen" features are turn on.

I play games exclusively with the controller even on the PC and there is nothing you can do to fix the controls to be honest. It's one of the worst controlling games I had the pleasure of playing. Aiming shots is a fight.

Might be worth sticking to M/KB if they don't fix it.

I fucking hate m+k.

Man, glad that code was discovered. Had only got it 3 times so was finally able to beat it (had only killed Salvador on my 3rd attempt) last night before I went to bed. To my surprise got it first try.

Also don't do what I did, there is little point to even going for the 15 kills to end the village sequence early on this difficulty. Not only do enemies have more health, but they're also much more likely to transform on "death" too. After killing Super Salvador, just save your remaining ammo for survival, or else you'll probably just run around pega aiming with a pistol for 5 minutes.

Will there be any co-op/multiplayer aspect to this game? I’m guessing that there will still be a Mercenaries Mode, but will that mode have multiplayer options?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Mercenaries will be post launch free DLC. The base game will just be single player and no co-op.

We dont know if Mercenaries will have co-op, they've only just confirmed that it exists and will come as post-release free DLC.

well, that's a demonstrable lie, or you have ridiculously low standards.
the deadzone of the game on PC is roughly 25%, which is fucking ridiculous.

if you play a shooter with anything above 5%, if you have the choice, you're doing it wrong

Dude chill. It's one thing to call out the horrible deadzones, it's another to call someone a liar or say they have low standards for not having an issue with it and enjoying the game.

if you say a deadzone is barely existent, while said deadzone is so bad that many shooters wouldn't even let you increase it that high, then that's either a lie, or someone is used to really bad controls and thinks these are good as a result, which would mean said person has low standards.

having low standards isn't a bad thing. I have low standards when it comes to movies, which is why I can watch basically anything and be entertained by it.
but it has to be said. and on a forum where discussing games is the main focus, in a thread discussing a demo version of a game, that should be what happens :)
