Its all going to be about RT performance and its likely they wont talk about TFs on these from what is being said
All of this RT talk but i think even more important would be DLSS equivalent.

Jfc, just buy/build a pc. I mean what can you expct from this realistically?

All the ps4 pro did was let you play checkerboard 4k games, for non first party games, they games only ran at like 1200p. it did not offer much else in the way of improvements. Df says the ps5 is equivalent to like a 2070 super, so will this be equivalent to a 3070 or 3080?

Yep, I agree. it's the most logical thing to do for Sony. PS4 Pro was the 4K 30fps gen. Now with almost all games being 4K + DRS + 60fps the best thing to focus on is RT.

I mean The Witcher 3 on PS5 is a great benchmark for PS5. The 60fps mode is now awesome (and fps is great now with the latest patch), but the RT mode still runs at 30fps with performance issues.

PS5 Pro marketing should (and probably will) focus on RT at 4K60fps (with DRS and reconstruction but who cares at this point?). And obviously PS5 Pro will be a no-brainer for PSVR2.

All of this RT talk but i think even more important would be DLSS equivalent.
Some Sony 1st party devs (Guerrilla, Insomniac) already have their own very good reconstruction techniques. They don't need DLSS. What they need is to lend those techniques to others Sony devs (like Naughty dogs that are still doing native rendering).

Exclusive speculation without any specific details! If it ever happens, Insider Gamer can say see, we had insider knowledge. If not, they say nothing.

Surefire method for generating engagement now with no downside. Sites can say whatever rumors they like are 'confirmed' by 'sources' when they don't have any confirmation nor any real sources. We've got to stop amplifying this bullshit.

My 'sources' just confirmed that Half Life Alyx is coming to PSVR2 and PS6 is coming in 2028. It's that easy.

I see people are going to keep denying PS5 Pro until reality slaps them in the face, just like they did with Sony games coming to PC.
I'm sure it's real. I just hope for everyone's sake that the Pro upgrades don't cost $10 per game. I couldn't bear to watch that happen to my GAF bros and sistas. I can practically already see the threads on the TLOU1 Remake Pro Upgrade when I close my eyes.

in PC spiderman there is Insomaniac own reconstruction technique IGTI and its average at best at much worse when you drop from quality to balance and lower. So i think some machine learning cores like tensor in RTX GPUs would be still nice for PS5 Pro.

I hope we do get one, but does seem a bit early considering we are still transitioning to true next gen games.

But then again when is the right time? Do it too late and it may be too close to the ps6 release and at that point is it even worth the effort.

I don't see why not. There's a precedent for it and there are always consumers willing to pay more to get better performance. That's who it's for, I'm one of em. I want the power of the latest tech without giving up the Pro's of a console ;)

After having to play Resident Evil 4: Remake Demo in downgraded performance mode, because the PS5 couldnt handle it I'm ready for a Pro right now.

In 18 months time it will be an absolute necessity for those that are serious about gaming. Think what's on the way, and how they're likely to run on the PS5...

Two new Final Fantasy games...
Stellar Blade...
Spiderman 2...
Death Stranding 2...
New Mass Effect...
That Warhammer game with the crazy hordes...

Who wouldn't resell their base PS5 and throw in an extra couple hundred quid for the Pro to play these 4K/60 with RT.

What? All the games are pushing the current PS5 to the limit as all look PS4 at 60fps or barely next gen at 30. A PS5 Pro can't come soon enough.
Are you saying that Geometry Engine/Primitive Shaders and the I/O hardware are being used to their max potential already? Are you sure of it? API stopped evolving to get more of the hardware etc?

Were 4k tvs really that common in 2016?

I think this idea that upgraded consoles were only justified by their widespread adoption is really overstated. First, I'm not sure it's even true, and second, it limited the market to those who already had or were willing to buy one.

If this time we got much better RT at 4k60 then that seems at least as good an upgrade as 1080p to 1440p...

Thew 4k TV adoption thing is really overblown

Andrew House himself said Sony had internal data that showed about mid life of a console people were leaving for the PC and the PS4 Pro was made to keep people in the Playstation ecosystem, essentially giving people a new toy

These Pro consoles are 100% about making them money and all this BS about games not pushing current consoles I can guarantee you the bean counters don't care.

All they care about is if people will buy them and they can make money

I think RTX3080 level performance*, will be possible. Better RT probably as well.

*In general I mean, could be more or less, similarly how it is now with RTX2060 level performance

PC implementation is different than what's on PS5.

Just in time for games to start flexing and see 1080p-30 fps on non pro consoles

Buying first iteration of consoles is becoming more and more meaningless buys, especially with that cross gen stretching beyond any previous gens.
