‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega’s rude comments should kill her career — but they won’t

I dont know Ortega sounds latin/spanish to me. I always assumed any min now she was bound to say "As a Woman of so and so decent."
Depends how you want to skin it I suppose, skin tone is definitely white.

It was supposed to be a joke before BTW

There was a line about a dress she has to wear for a school dance and she says, ‘Oh, my God, I love it. Ugh — I can’t believe I said that. I literally hate myself.’ I had to go, ‘No.’”

I'm with Jenna
It's funny how the writer of this article thought this would make people dislike her. Just imagine if Mark Hamill didn't take a multi-movie deal and did the same to save us from everything he repeatedly warned everyone about.

Shes now an executive producer so should have a lot more of a say like other tv show leads who get Executive Producer credit.

The Katherine Heigl comparisons are on point though. That chick was on top of the world and couldve easily had a great career like other rom com actresses, but blew it by being a bitch.

This wont hurt her with Wednesday but no director worth a damn is going to cast her in HIS movies. TV shows are different where showrunners dont really direct or write episodes and go with yes man directors. Movies are directed by dictators and this will hurt her career in some way. It's already definitely cost her some parts she doesnt even know about.

I was always skeptical of this idea. The vast majority of rom com "it" girls are on top for 2 - 3 years at most. Heigl was on a successful show for a bunch of years then had a bright 2 - 3 year peak making movies. A Sandra Bullock type career is the exception to the rule.

I think she was just getting to her mid 30s and the industry called out "Next!"

The diva drama always felt like a media creation to me.

They are consistent. Consistent shit. It's actually mind-blowing how terrible writing is in almost all of modern american movies and shows. Its like someone lobotomized whole generation of writers.
This is false. There are good and bad exclusives on every streaming service. Netflix has a lower batting average than HBO and Hulu as of now, which is why they seem so bad in comparison. I’d put Netflix almost neck and neck with Amazon though in terms of consistency.

In some ways I think this is a good point. I do feel that the NYP article is ironically full of the sort of "how dare she, this person should be canceled" sort of moral police mentality that people hate about wokeness in the first place, and I do ultimately side with Ortega in this, but we are still talking about two different situations.

Ortega was pushing back at writing that she didn't think was appropriate for the character based on her personal opinion, while Cavill pushed back due to not sticking with the source material, and doing their own thing instead of following the books. Similar, but still fairly different.
And both projects turned out to be quite good. What does that tell you.

I mean, Hollywood is a big carny show. But basically everything goes. The writer of the article isn't wrong- that behavior might bring some actors down. But Jenna Ortega is basically the hottest commodity in town, and any project that cares about making money should want her involved. And she's not wrong. Jenna vs. some CW-level TV writers/directors? No contest. (notice she doesn't go after Tim Burton, lol)

She is now getting a producer credit on the show, and those writers are being told to

She would not do this to Tarantino or Cameron, but knowing that we´re talking about Netflix, I fully support her work.

20 years old.
Yeah while true and is all fine she was still 14 when RE2Remake was released and that kinda puts it in prospective. ( Correction she was 16)
Don't personally like her, Ghostface needs to slice & dice.
Plus this little comment
When she literally owes her frame to them.
It's ironic

She's not toxic. She just talks too much.
No actor or actress would admit every problem they had on set, they just stay silent and pretend everything is ok, like basically every member of the cast from Buffy. These are the usual problems actors reveal only many many years later.

So the shit writers we have these days finally got told they're shit from the main actor who actually cares about the role and that's a bad thing?

Fuck off

Reminds me of Henry Cavil being a nerd who actually fucking loves The Witcher and wanted to drag the show kicking and screaming into being more representative of the source material, and now he's no longer with the show

https://fandomwire.com/the-witcher-...ng-due-to-his-over-enthusiasm-to-play-geralt/

Nothing she said was that bad and these shitty publications are desperate for views on her being one of the most popular actresses seemingly overnight right now. She's also 20 and bound to say a dumb thing or two in the limelight this doesn't even rank among the list of young fame corrupting.

Was she in RE2Remake or do you just use that as personal point in history to base things off?

I'm not sure if I hate more entitled little shit millennials, or modern hollywood soy writers.

Bro Millennials are up to 39 years old and tired af, leave us alone lol. At 20 she's firmly a middle Gen Z at 13 – 27. I was recently shocked to learn my cousins tween child who has a personality and can speak and shit is not even Gen Z anymore but already Gen Alpha.

Don't sound like that boomer fart bill maher who will always make it sound like millennials are teenagers protesting on college campuses even when we're gearing up for retirement lol

Nah just a reference based on the posters comment who said she was 14.
And with RE4remake coming out soon it seemed appropriate 👍

Dunno what to think about it.

Ortega is solidly a zoomer/Gen Z. Not everyone who you think is entitled is a millennial, either. Hell, I see entitlement among Gen Xers and boomers quite a lot these days.

That said, I despise Hollywood writers then, now, and forever.

Now: 2023
RE2Make: 2019
Ortega in 2023: 20 years old
Ortega in 2019: 14 years old???

The math doesn't check out.

(Edit: This was a joke apparently? If so, it flew over my head, oh well.)

The one concession I'll make is that a lot of bad ideas/habits we ascribe to zoomers were actually popularized, if not formed, with us millennials. Sometimes I feel guilt that I didn't do enough to nip these in the bud before they could reach critical mass. All I can do now though is teach my younger relatives to not follow in the footsteps of some idiots from my generation.

If she understood the character and thought the script wasn’t in line with it, then try it. If it works, it works.

I would expect this and hope for it in actors who care about their character being portrayed properly. Reminds me of Henry Cavil with the Witcher.

Nah your right I did fucked up, it released in January 2019, and Jenna would have been 16 in 2018.
But you get what I was saying 😂

She was 15 in those photographs man, I'm sure she's "developed" somewhat since then.
Lol she looks so young even now so i had no idea about the age in those pics:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

She doesn't look particularly curvy in that sexy pic someone posted tbh.

Off-topic, but she’s got some beautiful freckles which are unfortunately often hidden due to makeup. Probably not the best picture either, she looks like she’s about to do a cam show in the bathroom.

Anybody else find this shit a little creepy? Horny bruv, post this under the brunettes post or whatever the fuck.

Admiring a beautiful woman is considered "creepy" now? I'll agree that the photograph in question was a little inappropriate, but it was on the first page of Google search so I went along with it and added a funny comment. Also, have you noticed the traffic on the explicit threads of NeoGAF, there are tonnes of horny people here. I mean bitbydeath bitbydeath posted the exact same image as me. I'll probably change it as some people tend to get overtly offended and there are those who believe she is underage, and I'm a person who wants to maintain peace on NeoGAF.

I'm trying to figure out what Resident Evil has to do with all this.
