The animations and skills are right in line with Diablo 3. Nobody says current Diablo 3 is a bad game. Its just not even close to as good as D2 and its never been considered one of the better ARPG's. This is a modern day Diablo 3 mixed with more open world and current WoW. It will be a 8/10 game. Its not as good as Diablo 2 but then no games have ever been. Its not better than PoE and PoE 2 should continue to be king of ARPG's.

The Devs are the ones that kept saying Diablo 4 will be allot more like Diablo 2. I am just saying its nothing like it in any shape or form. When you play the game it feels right on track with Diablo 3. From visuals, skills, loot, UI. Its better and deeper but still not deep enough.
Does it have that thing from diablo 3 where you can change your base attack with various types?
(P.s. i only played d3 on console so i don't know if it was different on pc)

Played a few hours, enough to know this game is a banger and easily the best in the series.

Only thing I dislike is little fuckbags spamming the mobs im fighting, but hopefully there will be an option to choose whether you see other players in your game. The thought of trying to farm items in popular endgame zones with this MP system shortcircuits my brain.

Playing a barbarian and I love using the lunging attack ability, I just wish with greatsword it wasnt a constant thrust motion but more slashing attacks.

Damn, this game is solid!
Wasn't all that hyped for the beta, but got me hooked pretty well. 6-7 hours in, feels like both familiar and a brand new breed of Diablo and a masterclass Blizzard quality in world building, it's just extremely fun wandering around. Beyond all my expectations.
Still loving the controller support on PC after few hours of testing.
Gonna love this game, only thing missing is the offline mode still. Oh and the Hellraiser side quest, nice touch, hope to see some more horror references :D

Would you say that ragdoll and sense of power from the hit is at least on par with diablo 3?

I saw the first 30 min and those wolves weren't flying when hit by a barbarian like the simple zombies you meet at the start of d3, did they made everything more realistic\heavy?

I thought d3 combat feeling was close to perfection for an isometric game, it had the right type of floaty reaction where enemies fly away but their body still has a certain weight.
There is less rag doll which for me is great. Barb hits feel a lot more impactful than they did in D3. Everything is less plastic.

Yeah it's great, if they can fix the server problems in the final release I can see myself wasting thousands of hours with this game.

Really? I watched this video and the wolves barely react to being hit, they just kinda die right there.

Compare that to the first enemies on d3

Yeah maybe sending enemies so far away with a single hit is a bit too much, but they really dialed down too much imo.

Tbf i only saw combat against wolves.

What do you mean with less plastic?

Not sure but critical hits and heavier abilities seem to cause more intense ragdolling

Personally I like when I do "normal" fatal hit the monsters melt and fall down on their knees

The game just keeps getting better and better. Poison trap is so good and I love the look of it.

Also, the game runs better on PS5 than a 3070 Ti/5800x/32gb ram computer. Yes on PC you can run it at a higher framerate (I'm running it at 144htz) but its not nearly as consistent as PS5. It's constant stuttering or rubber banding, especially with high textures. You would never know that Blizzard made PC games.

So, there’s something off with the combat and I’m trying to work out what it is.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the audio design (which is fantastic) is doing most of the work. It really does sell your moves. But I actually think the animation has downgraded from D3. And I think that disconnect between the audio and visual is what’s throwing it off.

Also really disappointed that there’s no adaptive triggers implementation. Feels like a missed opportunity.

Game is good fun. Got my rogue to 20.

I’ll obviously play it, but it feels a bit underwhelming.

i like the game but it definitely needs some more polish. i wouldn't mind a 6 month delay.

Server issue?

Not a fan of being stunlocked or being able to injured while down. Far too long to recover, all my deaths have been taking a hit and while lying face down in the shite

I mean this has been constant but it can definitely be server related and not hardware. I remember having performance issues with D3 that were server related while the console always ran great. I hope they fix this though b/c I'd much rather play on my 3440x1440x144htz Alienware OLED but with a Dualsense :D

From the very first D4 videos I noticed the animation work was subpar compared to D3 in every way. I can look past that though as long as D4 keeps me hooked but yea Blizzard has lost a ton of talent over the years so what do you expect?

On a positive note the gear looks fantastic. The default rogue gear that you can show during your char customization looked so good. I want to know where to get it. The default Druid gear looks sick too.

So, I heard enemies scale in this game? What a load of bullcrap if that's true.

Cannot quote all of you asking for a ‘difficult game’ - have you played Diablo before? The game was never difficult, the only moment where that could have been the case was Butcher in D1.

Excuse me? Diablo 2 can be really difficult.
If you play straight you'll get you ass handed to you in ACT1 HELL no doubt, you'll actually find loads of roadblocks in the game.
Of course it becomes easy after you bought/traded for your enigma/infinity etc. The regular player probably won't ever get the runes to make them tho.

the game is heavily stat driven, I recon there will be items/skills in the final game that reduce the knockdown time.

Got in for 12-14 mins yesterday at launch. Maybe 14 hours of queue with no number and unable to reconnect even once since. Series X. Anyone else?

Doesn't help, but nope. Longest I queued was 30 minutes, this morning was straight in.

GMT zone.

To those stuck in forever Queued message.

Create a new battle.net account, create a new psn account, link those two, you will be able to log in. You'll have to start over, but it's better than being locked out completely.

Game is definitely addicting. I mean none of this shit will even transfer over and I look at my clock and it's 8am. Jesus. I like the Rogue but it def won't be my final class. My build is a disaster and doesn't really flow well but then if I go respec I'm gonna have to learn all my skill positions again and it's just a hassle. I went ranged from the getgo but the further you get down the tree, the more I can see myself wanting to play melee with traps and backstabby, invis, invulnerability type skills. Ranged is fine but it feels like a gimped sorc with too much casting. I think once I get to level 20 for the beta rewards then I'll switch to Sorc and play up to max beta level. Then next weekend do the same thing with Necro and Druid.

3070/5600x/32gb ram here and I need to play on medium 1440p with DLSS on if I don't want that stuttering and/or rubber banding...

Ridiculous

But the game is crack and it's the true sequel to d2, really love it so far

Level 18 rogue, just two more to go to get the unlockable then wait till next week. I've skipped all cut scenes etc so it still feels fresh at launch.

How does the MP even work. I have seen other players but what is the point ?

I'm not reading through the whole thread cause I'm a lazy fuck with a short attention span.

What's the consensus so far? Better than D3? I need to know if this game is gonna be one spicy meatball.

Well, the skeletons are certainly off. Not sure if it’s on purpose, but it’s as if they’re animated at 20fps whilst everything else is at 60. The ragdoll physics seemed to have been toned down. The casting animation is stiff, on sorcerer.

Some others are great; the basic rogue crossbow animation is very good.

Bit of a mixed bag.

Level 18 Barbarian now. Just going to get to 20 and then stop and try the necro next week.

I really am enjoying myself, but I feel overpowered for everything. Whirlwind with the fury generating upgrade just melts through everything.

I'm not gonna go looking now but it has those very stiff animations from the D2 remaster. They aren't AWFUL but I expect better from Blizzard who used to be the best at this type of stuff and especially polish. The game needs some more polish IMO. The stuttering on PC and the textures loading in late and shit like that really bugs me. I'm having zero of those issues on console but I want to take advantage of my very expensive PC.

You won't be able to judge that for a long time. First you're gonna need the full game to release, then you're gonna need people to spends hours upon hours grinding end game and then seeing how well they support the game as well as the season pass stuff. It also depends on how you felt about D3. D3 went from very contreversial with the AH and the always online shit to being completely revamped with a good flow of content and tons of difficulties, new sets and the list goes on. I loved Diablo 3 even though it was very different than D1 and D2. I also feel like D4 is gonna be a great game. I don't think you can compare it to D1/D2 at all. Overall I think people will end up really liking it because so far the story seems WAY better than D3 and the game has a much darker, more serious tone which is also fantastic. It's gonna sell boatloads because its a brand new Diablo game, that's the only thing that's a given.

got in and played for a bit. i'm blown away and i'm in love with it. i was worried because i am burned out by Diablo 3 but fuck yeah this is what I've been wanting. I'm going to sink a fuck load of hours into this game for sure.

i'm torn because i want to play the shit out of the beta but i want to wait until launch at the same time to get the full experience. i know it's just up to lvl 25 and act 1 which is only a small part of the campaign (and the game won't really start until after the campaign). the campaign in Diablo 3 was not great but it was serviceable. i'm already a lot more interested in the story of D4 than I ever was of D3.

I was questioning myself about dropping £90 on this game but i already feel it's totally worth it.

for the PC players who are interested in performance here are my MSI graphs from the early game. i'm on a 9900K, 32GB, RTX 4080. i'm playing at 1440p. the game is maxed out and i'm running DLSS quality. my GPU is hardly breaking a sweat. the lowest it went was ~100fps during a "cutscene". the game has some small hitches but nothing major.

Rx536B0.jpg

CPU never went past 60C but was mostly sitting at ~50C.
CPU usage never went past 68% but was at 20-40% whenever i looked at it
RAM was max 16.5GB but droped to 13-14GB for a while
GPU never broke 40C.
GPU usage was topping out at 91% but was often at 60-70%
VRAM got as high as 14GB (i don't have high res textures installed). it seems to increase the longer i played. not sure it's a memory leak?
my GPU fan never went above 30%
max fps was 141 but was mostly solid at ~135-140fps. any major drops are only for a second which i suspect was during loading screens or cutscenes.
frame timing shows stutters but as i said above it didn't bother me. i'd say they were mostly during when enemies first appear or loot drops.

Knowing that this gme will be massive and they are planning content for years makes me feel warm inside, the tone and visual presentation is so good. One little tiny nitpick for me is the basic ui arial font which gives me early 2000s dungeon siege vibes but I know it's for clarity sake
