I remember being so excited for the release of RE5. Does anyone remember Capcom had this website for RE5 with some backstory of how the Kijuju incident traumatized Chris and there also was a live action video of Chris Redfield on a date but he couldn't focus or something like that and she ended up leaving. Anyway, like RE4, RE5 innovated all over again in terms of action survival horror being much more fast paced in a military type (BSAA) operation. Not only that, but the other huge change was the first time a RE game in the main series being co-op. Personally, I really enjoyed RE5 along with the co-op and thought it to be an amazing and fun game. However as a RE game, being compared to the old school traditional sense or even RE4, I think that's why some may not care for RE5.
I like how it seems that Chris Redfield gets the military action packed storyline, when I think about it, it makes a lot of sense because Chris has been dealing with B.O.W.s for a long time and he's not new to this situation. Not to mention he is an ex-member of S.T.A.R.S so it shouldn't surprise fans that they go that route for Chris. Plus I like how he gets the high-end artillery in his arsenal.
The A.I. though is bad to me when playing single player. There wasn't much effort put into it. For example: Chris or Sheva will thoughtlessly use strong weaponry and waste let's say shotgun shells for one Majini or if you gave the A.I. a magnum use it unwisely. I haven't played RE5 in a long time alone so I don't remember all the other nuisances, but I remember the A.I. being pretty basic and low tier level compared to what A.I. can do if they focused more attention for that for those who don't have family or friends and don't want to play with strangers.
And yes, if RE5 is in the works to get a remake, I would get it because the original was super fun and I would hope they focus on the A.I. a lot more to make the overall single player experience enjoyable.
Now from what I observed about RE5's controversy about racism is so asinine to me and here's why. For one most if not everyone who claims racism isn't even of African descent and from what I notice is that most if not all Africans that enjoy RE have agreed that RE5 was not and is not racist. I am bi-ethnic (African-European) but mostly African according to my DNA percentages and for me personally I do not think RE5 is racist. Not even if they decided to use an area of Africa for reference that mostly or all were Africans. Secondly, this story takes place in Africa, who do you expect to find mostly in Africa? Well it does depend on the location and from I think I remember is that Capcom went to a region in Africa that had a variety of different ethnicites when getting real world reference for RE5 setting. So that's why you see different ethnicities in RE5 in Africa. And third, what if the role were reversed would it still count as racism? Such as: Assassin's Creed Liberation. The character's action, mindset and scenario is what would determine whether what they were doing was racism, survival, liberator, and so on.
Now the main issue from what I recall was called racism is about a trailer released where it showed a Caucasian woman bursting through the door screaming for help and an African man (Majini) grabs her and drags her back inside. Also I believe this mystery woman with the blonde hair was Allyson who was mentioned on the RE5 website. Anyway, for the US release of RE5 this scene changed from an African man (Majini) to a Caucasian man (Majini) and she was no longer wearing a solid red dress. I don't know if there were other changes according to other countries. That is what initially sparked the racism which then turned into Chris shooting and killing Africans. How the heck did the attention get shifted from what originally was complained about is interesting. And...does not Jill and Leon shoot and kill the zombified citizens in Raccoon City that are different ethnicities and no one claims racism? Because it's about survival and has absolutely nothing to do with a person's ethnicity or the color of their skin.
But apparently it matters for some reason when an infected African man from a video game proceeds to infect a Caucasian woman with the Las Plagas which by the way, the Majini would infect ANYONE, yes even their own.
Now that original trailer had been erased unless someone backed it up.
