PS5 is in the perfect storm right now (Increased supply , God of War:R , The Last Of Us Show & Hogwarts Legacy )

You do know Hogwarts Legacy is multiplatform, right?
Not everyone knows though. You do know that, right?
I can't remember hearing a radio ad for any game here, ever, but "Hogwarts now on PS5" was in the radio, also just happens to be at my busstop where "Hogwarts for Playstation" is adverstised.
Hogwarts seems to move numbers, and has more marketing than the average game, at least here, and will somewhat boost PS (awareness if nothing else) due to this marketing deal. Maybe not even selling anything beyond what is anyway being sold, Sony actually just catching up with demand.
The supply is still rather limited after all. You just have to check the Amazons of Europe. Even the current main bundle with GoW either Disk or Digital isn't available all the time.

I really think the PSVR2 can push it even further once people start actually using it. People that never used VR will have their minds blown and transfer that sentiment to social media and then it will grow from there.

I remember back in 2001/2 when people were trying to say PS2 wasn't worth it either because the only good game it had was GTA3.
PS2 had more variety. If you don't like thrid-person cinematic adventures or Marvel stuff then there's nothing to like in the PS5.

I wish they made more Returnals and less The Lasts of Uses, but if those games are the ones that bring the money then I guess I'm shit out of luck.

Maybe it did but it didn't stop the same tired conversations that we're still having how certain games don't count because, "a, b, and c."

Back then if you no one cared about your game if it wasn't GTA or Halo and the prevailing argument was PS2 lacked any big games except GTA and one game wasn't worth it.

Back then I was just a kid enjoying the GameCube lol.

But that sounds very weird to me. PS2 had tons of JRPGs and other cool games. The "I don't care if it's not GTA or Halo" sounds like something a casual pleb would say.

Just like now with the PS5, just a casual pleb argument in most cases.

Wanting to wait for more games is fine but saying it has nothing good is just a personal opinion.

I feel that after Sony decided to gradually release their games on PC, the industry has become very homogeneous. With the exception of Nintendo games, you can play the vast majority of the games on your preferred platform and at the very worst you just have to wait a few years (timed exclusivity).

And I'm saying this while I'm on the verge of ordering a PS5 mostly due to the ridiculous prices of the graphics cards today.

I remember back in 2001/2 when people were trying to say PS2 wasn't worth it either because the only good game it had was GTA3.
I also remember how in the generation after all you could hear, everyday, was how single player games were dead.
Surrounded by this narrative day and night, from companies and gamers alike who were demanding co-op and multiplayer components from every single game, games of which basic and shallow SP portions usually lasted 6-8 hours and were often even shipped incomplete because of Season Pass and DLCs.

Fast forward a decade, games are more expensive than ever, many companies easily and quickly bank on dumb multiplayer titles for kids filled with microtransactions, and Sony is keeping big budget single player alive with colossal blockbusters selling tents of millions of copies.
Games much lengthier than before, with deeper gameplay mechanics than before, less linear structures and enough meat to make the player feel he spent well his money.

And yet all we read is complaints about "cinematic third person games" from fake-ass sophisticate Doki Doki gamers and people who spend half their day playing GaaS cheap shit and Indies on Gamepass and the other half concerned about Sony on GAF who fail to grasp there's more difference between those "cinematic movie games" than there is between Call of Duty, Cyberpunk 2077, Alien: Isolation and 90% of "first person games".

Just like now with the PS5, just a casual pleb argument in most cases.
I'd argue it's worse.

Pleb arguments are at least genuine, what we read most of the time on GAF is not.

Holy shit the fanboyism.

"The only thing in its way". What does that even mean? The only thing preventing PS5's success are great games on other platforms lol? What do you get if Sony "wins"?

This isn't some sporting event where you have a home team battling it out against other teams for the championship.

What a pathetic display.
Couldn’t have said it any better myself.

The perfect storm of being able to buy a console, a sequel worse than its predecessor, a tv show about the best game from ten years ago and a multiplatform game? lmfao ok.
It's easy to buy a ps5 now, it's been seriously supply constrained until a few months ago.
The sequel you mentioned has a 94 on metacritic and has sold 11 million copies in three months, the sales of the last of us remake are up, the tv show is critically well received and is setting records on hbo and bringing tons of exposure to the playstation brand.
Oh if I'm not mistaken, the "competition", if you can even use that word with a straight face when comparing xbox's performance with playstation's in the market, has yet to release one single current gen exclusive this gen so far.
So yea, your personal feelings on the matter aside, things are in point of fact going great for playstation now, and there's no sign of that changing at all.

A PS3 remake is number one selling PS5 game on Amazon right now ( besides the bundled in God of War )

Gamepass is old news now that PlayStation extra and premium exist.
Yeah I know. I was being sarcastic in my post 😬. Also, just saw the Gamepass family price that I wanted to get and noped out in an instant. Gamepass ultimate is 139kr here and the family one costs 299kr. More than twice the single account. It’s ridiculously expensive. I need to share with at least 3 people to be able to justify this one cost. I was prepared to pay around 150% the 1 account cost, like all other services do. Not more than double.

Some people just want to play the shit they like and dont care much about on what.
And if they associate Hogwarts with PS than it is a perceived exclusive no matter that it is available on other devices too. If a game is selling quite well, of course it helps first and foremost that primary platform, no matter if your superior knowledge would lead to a pretentious argument that it should help all platforms equally.
Your ignorance of actual realities is no excuse.

I guess every game can be a exclusive title if you believe hard enough on it.
For the market, it's about perception. I've seen few people online convinced that they need to buy PS5 to play HL, and had to explain to my friend, who's on XBOX, that she, infact, can play the game there. Companies make these deals for a reason. Sadly, a game like Hogwarts will sell PS5s, and a game like Returnal, albeit exclusive and amazing, will not. FFXVI will sell some consoles I think, Spider-Man certainly will.

Conversely, I remember well informed people saying they'll buy XSX because it has marketing for Cyberpunk and surely the game will have better performance there as a result (Ironically, I think that was exactly the case!)

Mental gymnastics, got it.

Wait you mean the month you could easily find ps5 in the wild sold a lot? Wow mind blowing.
You knew that when you made the comment to begin with but also what about the Last Of Us : Part 1 moving up to number 6 when it was only on PS5 & Last of Us II making it's way back into the top 20?

The funny part? Sony is only releasing two major 1st party games this year that we know of: Spider-Man 2 and MLB that just released. (not counting DLCs and VR2 stuff) Their studios will shine a lot more next year.

With deals like Hogwarts, timed exclusives like FFXVI, Silent Hill 2, etc… that’s all they need for a weak year from the competition.

Next year with deals for games like Avatar and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, exclusives lilke Factions, maybe Wolverine, at least one or two gaas titles and stuff yet to be announced…it might actually be PS5s peak year…specially after the new sku and a small decrease in price.
