Sorry, but I just don't see where this will succeed where starmen has failed.
And what would you suggest? Wilting? Even if Nintendo doesn't bring the games over, they need to know exactly how they're screwing up.

Don't worry, Wii U is going to change things. Boxes checked.

Wii U will be the same old shit.

Thank you kindly. *Sigh* well, once again, Nintendo wins either way. Those of us that want to play it will get it anyway, still putting money in their pockets.

Nah, no problem man. Hopefully come time someone will create a thread for U.S. importers of the game and how to go about doing it. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would want to import but have no idea how to go about doing that on the European end of things.

I rather support NOE with my money than NOA, they are seperate in their financial reports if I remember right. I've really come to apperciate and respect what they have done this generation.

I'm still buying a WiiU, but I'll hack the hell out of it to play import titles and I'll do the same for the 3DS. They can kiss my ass.

And that's that. Maybe when Wii U comes out I'll just softmod my Wii to play those games. It's not like I'd be waiting that long anyhow (since they'd never be coming to NA).

At least it's a definitive answer

But you'll be able to not touch the games you can't play, instead!

Oh oh and imagine not moving your controller around in that game you can't play!

Hooooo boy. So what we all thought was several days of intense discussion at NOA was probably several days of the intern who runs the twitter and facebook accounts waiting for someone who knows something to respond to their email. Fuck NOA.

Does this at least mean that people will stop whining that people hate Nintendo for no reason? Since buying my favorite developer, all they've really done is block their games from coming to the US. The MonolithSoft that made a million-selling RPG series is now stuck on a system where the highest a non-franchise AAA RPG can do is 100k.

That said, this wording is exactly what Reggie said in that Keighley interview. So I guess I shouldn't be too broken up.

That's it. I'm fucking done with Nintendo. Fuck their bullshit. I will go out of my way to buy a used copy of Paper Mario 3DS and I doubt I'll be purchasing much first party 3DS software. Fuck their new console, fuck Reggie, and fuck Nintendo.

i told you they don't give a fuck. Mother1+2 had fully translated English versions and they didn't release them. Mother 3 is amazing and would have probably sold a few but instead they brought over the abysmal Magical Starsign which sold 2 copies.

I thought Mother 2 was localized. It was called Earthbound. Unless you're talking about Virtual Console or Europe.

FUCK THE WII U! NINTENDO DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT CORE GAMERS
IN AMERICA
WHICH IS EVEN WORSE!
Nintendo doesn't WANT hardcore gamers.
They want their definition of "hardcore gamers"... aka people who buy Dudebro mainstream shooters from third-parties.

Problem is those gamers won't be buying Wii Us.
They'll be getting their third-party Hi-Def fix on systems they already own... namely the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Systems with fully developed online ecosystems, achievements, timely (often exclusive) DLC and multiplayer communities where they play and where their friends play.
And when they want to buy a new system they'll buy the PS3/X360 successor systems that will come out 1-2 years after the Wii U hits stores.

The casual gamers won't be buying Wii Us, either.
The "new motion gimmick of the day" folks will continue to flock towards Kinect while the soccer moms will continue to buy dancing/fitness games on their Wiis.

We will never see a Monolithsoft developed title in North America again. Period. Even on the Wii U. We probably won't even see a Fire Emblem game on any of Nintendo's platforms.

Nintendo is going to sit back and bet that we'll all buy Wii Us to play Zelda in Hi-Def on their controller with a screen that only one person can play on at a time. That's their gamble. They may be right. They may not.

I'm getting serious early 90s vibes from this thread/Ninty's decision.

It's like waiting for my shittily dubbed Neon Genesis Evangelion VHS tapes all over again.

In the NES day Nintendo fully localized Mother 1 but never released it. The beta cart eventually appeared on ebay and the buyer leaked it online.

Don't matter. Hardcore games like Animal Crossing 3DS will start coming soon.

Also title needs to be more sensationalistic. If we're going to have a shirtstorm we'll need as much people on board as possible.

There was a GBA game called Mother1+2. It had Earthbound Zero and Earthbound in it. Of course Earthbound is translated it being the only game in the series to come out in America eighty years ago and thanks to Nintendo's comically awful marketing campaign (which literally was "IT STINKS!" replete with scratch+sniff stickers that smelled of vomit) it sold like shit and they blame it on Americans not wanting that type of game.

Embarrassing.

It's pretty sad state of affairs when there are literally hundreds if not thousands of people just begging to give a games company money for a bunch of games - some of which are already fully translated - and they still refuse.

Maybe they don't believe it's a serious enough movement? After all, it's not the first time where internet fandom didn't exactly translate healthily into sales for a highly coveted product; maybe VGP had the right idea about opening up the preorders campaign and sending the info directly to Nintendo?

Are people really not going to buy Nintendo hardware or software again because of this?

I'm trying to work out if I find that surprisingly determined or hilarious.

Guess that seals the decision then. Time to import then ditch Nintendo.

One of the greatest RPGs is not getting localized into English for who knows what reason. You're damn right we're not gonna buy hardware again.

OK, since NOA obviously is NEVER going to localize these anyway...how about changing the entire thrust of Operation Rainfall to "Allow 3rd parties to localize these".

Too bad, i guess they don't like my money. :/

I don't want to keep buying Nintendo products after that dickery. Damn...

I guess i'll have to finish my japanese classes and stop worrying about this kind of shit.

Yeah, at least Gaf will be playing together come September. Either making a brand new or rebranding/bumping the Wii mod thread would come in handy in August.

What a missed opportunity on Nintendo's part. The people involved in this campaign, they're at least part of the core they intend to suddenly "win back" on good will for the Wii U generation. This would have been such a swan song for the Wii and almost guarantee a portion of the audience following them through their next console. Really unfortunate.

Why should I if Nintendo of America has just explicitly told me "we're not interested in releasing anything that isn't Mario/Metroid/Zelda or appeals to casuals"?

I was going to say I feared some hacker group were going to target their online infrastructure.

Then I remembered there wasn't much to attack to begin with.

I hope you mean Nintendo of America, because you could only import the English version from Nintendo of Europe.
